- Two videos in one year? I'm really growing as a creator or something.
Thanks for the support on getting this challenge idea off the ground, with that I've got a number of ideas for other Dead Rising challenges in the future I'm a little more confident in.
This is the longest video I've made so far, and I hope to keep it that way where possible. I might have to try and cut back on talking plot in future videos, since it'll probably get repetitive if I'm replaying a game as well as the length getting increased.

What about a playthrough where every load zone you must drop all items and improvise your arsenal each new area. Example you might be in the food court with the uzi,a knife, and wine. When going to the park you must drop everything and only use what's in the park until you enter another area. Repeating the process.

Here's a challenge I made up for Dead Rising 2 Off the Record
I call it the wrestler Challenge
The rules are simple you can only use weapons that have been in pro wrestling you'll have to wear the wrestler outfit and all skill moves are allowed

My experiences with Dead Rising Survivor AI as someone who always saves everyone:
When saving the morons locked in the room next to Crislip's by Cliff, I have to remember to open both doors, otherwise one of them always gets stuck. Also, I have to give Rich the Machete because the other guy sucks ass with it for unknown reasons and Barbara just doesn't fucking use it.
Sophie tends to run in the direction of the convicts. Apparently she wants death.
Burt and Aaron love to get caught on 1 zombie, after plowing through multiple hordes by pushing.
Pamela and Heather cannot leave by the toy store window, despite the fact that Pamela always enters from the toy store window if Frank does.
Hand holding is useless 99% of the time, and should be replaced with the superior carrying.
Ronald will only leave the restaurant if you break down the barricade, despite that sucking and being slower.
Leah is aggressive as fuck despite being wounded, so leaving her anywhere safe to manage other survivors is near impossible despite her being a carryable survivor. Tip: leave her in the gym. Survivors can't activate the sliding doors by themselves. Just make sure you get her out of there if you're also managing Burt and Aaron. They love to chill in there even if you open the doors for them or break the windows.
Tanya, despite her AI following Ross, constantly gets sidetracked uselessly pushing small groups of two to four zombies that aren't even in her path.
Yuu and Shinji love death, as stated in this video. They will give single zombies a nice kiss on the cheek and love hordes even more.
Taking Isabela to Carlito's hideout is torture since she insists on shooting any zombie within a 2 mile radius. Same with Brad after Carlito 1.
The four survivors you save from Jo love to eat shit from the Small Chainsaw as they hug the shit out of Frank and constantly get caught by zombies. When they aren't hugging the shit out of Frank, they're busy getting stuck in doorways because they've never heard of courtesy before.
Despite also being a psychopath who just had access to weapons, Paul is a moron who will die quicker than the survivors you save from him. If I wasn't saving everyone every playthrough, I'd only save him for the molotovs later.
All of the survivors you save from the Hall family are worthless except the antique guy, who is only good because he is carryable. Everyone else loves to immediately walk into hordes of zombies despite the safe room being nearby. Thank Satan the top floor remains clear after killing the Halls. RIP Thomas.
Kindell isn't good for anything besides shooting you in the back. You'd think having a shotgun would make him a good survivor.
Alyssa loves to get stuck behind the gun store counter. All about that 2nd Amendment I guess. Also all three of the gun store survivors have the same issue as Kindell to a lesser degree.
Kent hates being photographed, and will constantly kick zombies instead of doing his goddamn pose. He will also sometimes skip straight to another locale before you get the first picture.
All of the survivors you save from Sean get slightly better with the Brainwashing book, and yet they still adore getting grabbed and also taking hits from the Small Chainsaw.
Greg is annoying. Just tell us where the shortcut is, I don't want to follow you until you finally agree to join. Especially since you have no weapons and run directly into zombies when Frank is nearby.
And finally, we've all seen this one. Getting a group of three or more survivors to get close enough to the vent to travel to the safe room takes far too long. They'd rather bump into each other than climb it seems.
For the last thing, you'll have much better luck setting a waypoint for them than by climbing up and yelling at them to get over here.
It sad to say that I love dead rising 1 survivors, they just have some charm to them that the dead rising 2 survivors don’t have really, yes dead rising 1 survivors are very bad but I can handle them unlike in off the record where in that game it feels the survivors always get grab far away and since I’m too far away I can’t save them and they die all from one grabbing zombie. I have play dead rising 1 so much so I think I got use to the ai and escorting them has been easy for me besides from some survivors.

So far I've beaten 6 of the Dead Risings with 0 kills starting from fresh file. And I've beaten one at the lowest level you can.

Took me all day to get through it, but very solid video! The effort into the editing was apparent, I especially liked stuff disappearing and reappearing on the list after you reload.
I’d be down with this in the second game too, but might be too easy. Maybe putting something in towards crafting could count as using the item? (Or no crafting/using each bench once?)
Would also like to see all bosses if possible but maybe a big ask lol
I was considering banning combo items altogether from the DR2 challenge, actually. Your idea of only using a bench once is quite intriguing, though; I could make it so crafting a combo weapon breaks the bench as well as the items used to craft it.

This was really awesome and tense seeing all usable weapons and food just slowly dissappearing towards the end. Watched the whole video in one sitting and it was worth it just to see you stuck in a bookstore in the darkness on the wrong side of a warehouse with a radish and some trash weapons lol

The small chainsaw you can pick up after defeating the clown is by far one of the best melee weapon in DR1 (only if you have them before Overtime mode, or they will despawn), when you have the Entertainment book, the Engineering book, and the Criminal Biography book, it can last for 2160 hits!
Yes, that's exactly true. However, my comments suggested not using any of these things for the challenge to prevent it from being too easy, so I didn't bother with it. I'll probably keep away from the Small Chainsaw in future DR1 videos as well, though I thank you for the advice!

When The NiskelLP did that challenge, he named it as beating bosses with stupid weapons. You can see that both have same ideas but naming the challenge is different. While SkillfulSkarmory calls the challenge using items once, TheNiskelLP calls the challenge using stupid weapons.

I love the idea and I'm definitely giving this a try. I'm actually working on a sledgehammer only run while going for Saint as well and yes it's as painful as it sounds. Another Idea I'd suggest is a projectile only run with weapons that can only be thrown

To anyone confused about the explanation, it’s this:
Any Item that Frank picks up can not be replaced with another of itself, after breaking or despawning! And there can never be any item duplicates!
Think of it as a Pokemon Nuzlocke with DR weapons taking place of Pokemon.

Amazing video, man! Was 100% worth the wait! I honestly quite liked the layout, personally - if anything, it looked pretty sleek.
I've gotta wonder, by the way... do you think in the future, you might expand your content to something outside of Dead Rising? If so, what might that potentially be? Not that I'd have ANY issue with a channel of this quality dedicated to a series this underappreciated, but as unfortunate as it is, there's only so many challenges possible in these few games (or at least I THOUGHT so until I read through other comments... people can be pretty creative, evidently).
Either way though, keep it up man! It's unbelievable that your content doesn't get more attention.
I do plan on expanding at some point, some time. I had always planned to be variety challenge channel anyway, but the Dead Rising challenges got very popular and I enjoyed making them... so I'm just doing those for the time being.

Since the name of this challenge run is to use item once, I had the experience of beating Jo using Isabella's motorcycle. As soon as Jo is down to 1 HP, I finish off Jo using Isabella's motorcycle. In exchange of course, I had to reload the game to make sure the last hit I used against Jo is using Isabella's motorcycle. If I kill Jo with any other weapons, I reload the game to ensure that I only kill Jo using a motorcycle. Then what will happen is I will have a hard time stopping the motorcycle and accidentally hit 1 of the hostages. Since I was sitting on the motorcycle before the cutscene ends, the motorcycle stays while Frank West falls off. I will tell you that whenever a motorcycle is present, The Cultist don't ever show up. This may be hard to believe but Cultists apparently is scared to show up when a motorcycle is in Frank West's possession.

To be fair, cliff actually would’ve been worth killing because of how good the machete is. And Kent’s magazine could’ve been used to level up. Also you could’ve baited Adam into getting hit by the ride. It works trust me. This could’ve been a bit easier if you did these but not by a lot lol. Good video!

@@skillfulskarmory Also, if you kill Cliff, you get access to the book that doubles the effects of healing items instead of 1.5xing them. It would definitely help your healing items each carry you a little further.

Here’s an Idea for a challenge
1 type of item only challenge
How this challenge works is that you pick one type of weapon, healing item, magazine, Car etc and you can only use that type of one items
Example: If you pick Katana you have to stick with only Katanas the whole game
You can also have a healing item as well but it can only be one type like Orange juice.
You can have mutiple items with you but it can only be one type.
Like example Two katannas and 2 orange juices in my inventory.
You can pick whichever item you want to use (minus achievement Bonus items like Mega blaster)
Also if you pick Mini chainsaw you would have to fight Adam with your bare hands so yeah it’s harder to do.
That’s my idea hope you see it.
Anyone who completed a 5 day infinite mode can easily accept your challenge using only 1 type of weapon. For example, I got a lightsaber which means I can stick to that 1 weapon for the whole entire game. So lets say I use lightsaber once and you say the rules for that is I have to stick to lightsaber for the whole game. No problem. So after 1 use of going into missions and then each time I return to the safehouse, I can drop the lightsaber, go inside the air duct and refresh my lightsaber. A lightsaber is even more powerful then a chainsaw. That means I can use lightsaber from Day 1 all the way to the end.

As for Megabuster, also the same rule because that is also another item found inside the safehouse. So lets say if I stick to Megabuster once, I can do it throughout the whole entire run. No problem too. Many pyschopaths can be killed by that blast. I would not mind using Megabuster for the whole story mode run. Megabuster is unlocked after killing 53,594 zombies and completing the Zombie Genocider achievement/trophy in a single playthrough, obtaining any ending, and saving at the prompt.
@@theggamer2824 People can still choose another powerful weapon in the game you know even if you restrict the Mega Blaster or Lightsaber. For example, I could go to a gun shop and pick up shot guns before meeting Brad at the food court. Anyone can keep going back to the gun shop for a fresher gun the same way how people goes to Wonderlife Plaza to refresh chainsaws. If using 1 weapon is a challenge, then this means anyone have option to pick which kind of weapon is powerful even if they were to start from level 1.
As for Adam the clown, that would mean if I wanted to commit to Katana, I can be free to use Katana on Adam. But if I wanted to commit to chainsaw, I have to beat Adam with my fists.

Mannequin Torso can be located in the elevator. So as soon as you leave the security room, there is a Mannequin Torso lying around near the warehouse elevator. So lets pretend I use the Mannequin Torso in my first battle, then that would mean I have to use Mannequin Torso for the whole entire run. That means if I am on my way to go back to the security room/safe house, I can always refresh it by pick up another Mannequin Torso before entering the elevator. So if the challenge is to commit to only 1 weapon, anyone can accept the challenge and choose a powerful weapon for the whole entire run.

What about a playthrough of Dead Rising 2 using only Boss weapons? (fists until you obtain one, probably)
Then think what will happen if you challenge Randy. That would mean the boss weapon you would already have in your possession would be Leon's bike because Leon's bike cannot go inside. So the weapon you may obtain upon killing that Pyschopath would be Randy which means using a Chainsaw using the boss's weapons. Or if killing Carl, you take his Shotgun. If killing Slappy, you have to take the flamethrower. If you kill the 2 magicians, you get access to the sword and the rocket launcher.

The Quickstep's first usage was erased because I died and reloaded, allowing it to be used later instead.

@@skillfulskarmory hey no problem my mistake on the rules part but overall it was entertaining to see how difficult it really was like I said I commend you for going through all that to prove it can indeed be done despite the clear difficulty but I would like to ask do you have any polls for these challenges or perhaps do you take requests and other types of challenges on the Dead Rising games? Cause I am sure I can come up with one or a few

Actually in the same thread as that tied list someone in the replies mentions that the two Japanese survivors are coded to be absoloute beast accurate with guns for some reason. Obviously not helpful for this challenge but pretty good to know for casual play since there's handgun cops outside the bookstore
That makes sense regarding Gordon; it's bizarre that neither him or Aaron did their crawl at any point throughout the escort, I must've gotten really lucky.
Regarding Shinji and Yuu, that's really interesting to know. I'll have to keep that in mind for casual playthroughs or future challenges, thanks!
It's quite ironic that Yuu and Shinji are good gunslingers but then I remembered they were on vacation specifically in Midwest America. Maybe they're firearms enthusiasts lol
@@haevansgate300 Maybe Yuu and Shinji did Kyūdō back in Japan. Perhaps they were students in Japan taking a Spring Break vacation at Willemette. So the idea is that maybe Yuu and Shinji did come from a place where he learns archery which is common in Japan. So the idea is if they can master archery, they can master using guns. Even way back in Edo Period, there are some of the samurais that eventually learn to use guns instead of sticking to swords.

An idea for off the record there was a cheat dlc and you can make the clock have 4x speed. there are guides to get it on pc you also get no saves sadly

Once you tell people to do that kind of challenge, that challenge can also be made to be too easy. I mean what if SkillfulSkarmory already did 53,594 kills to get that Zombie Genocider achievement and get any ending? So lets suppose if you were to ask me to do the whole challenge using guns only. I would easily accept the challenge and speedrun the whole thing saving all survivors and killing all psychopaths. Don't forget that if I were use Megabuster for the whole entire playthrough, that would be counted as using guns only. So you may want to be specific because if you don't specify it, then the standards may not sound like it is that high. Guns only challenge can also mean a most powerful weapon in the game and can also mean bonus weapons earned from killing 1337 zombies and getting any ending.
Another example, if you requests melee weapon only, I could be using a lightsaber that I got from infinite mode. Lightsaber would be the most powerful melee weapon in the game.
I am sure Janus from Dead Rising 2 would want to see guns only because if Janus sees don't see a gun in any inventory, he won't join. In my experience, in OTR, Janus does count Protoman's Blaster as a gun.

What about beating Dr with no heals or guns only
Think what happens if people started from level 1. Once they level up, they automatically heal. So won't the ground rules be that leveling up to heal is acceptable?

By comparing this to this link, the title of this video can also be called Can You Beat Dead Rising Using Stupid Weapons? ruclips.net/video/gnNw9YhchZk/видео.html. If you look at this link, TheNiskelLP describes it as stupid weapons. After all, part of the challenge you are doing is trying out different kinds of weapons to beat psychopaths right. So while you call it using items once, The NiskelLP calls it beating bosses with Stupid Weapons. Same idea but the way how it is named in a youtube channel is a different story.
Not really, Skarmory was forced to use stupid weapons because his options became limited as he used up the good weapons which was also difficult because he started on a fresh save with no upgrades so beating the game forced him to ration all weapons throughout his playthrough. Niskel used stupid weapons just for the fun of it and had a fully leveled Frank, not to mention he also used multiple of the same weapon instead of being restricted to a single use of them.
