What is rare in this time is for people to graciously and unreservedly apologise and admit they are wrong about something. It takes a strong character to be so honest and humble. Onya mate.
It is something that we Aussies love. We like people who are able to look at things again when constructive criticism is given. It is hard for people of the current era to appreciate music from another decade. I and so many other Aussies love to introduce people to our catalogue of musicians who don't/ haven't cared for the American music machine. Keep it up - we like your honesty. I subbed today. 👍
It's cool dude. We get it. You need to hear Farnham live to appreciate how good he is. Same with most Aussie artists tbh. We Aussies really like our music LIVE!
If you’re gonna work your way through John’s catalogue your in for a real treat. Probably the finest entertainer who ever walked this earth. Not very well known in the mainstream outside of Australia because he didn’t want to have to move overseas to develop his career and we (aussies) love him all the more for that. His music is a huge part of the soundtrack to my early adult life and I’m loving revisiting it. Thanks XO
As you watch John especially in concert, going to Jon’s concerts is not sitting passively it’s a complete immersion in the magic the positive energy flows between the musicians, the singers the crowd and John and builds during the concert everybody participates and it becomes magical.
I'm so glad you gave John another chance and saw his true talent. I was annoyed with your first reaction to "You're the Voice" but decided to give you a second chance and watch your second reaction to the live version. I realised that people of your generation have no idea of the conflicts occurring during the era the song was released in and naturally think the original video is lame. I'm so pleased to see you're genuinely enjoying John's talent. You will probably be just as impressed with Jimmy Barnes and Diesels bodies of work too. I can't recommend just one song, they are all great in my opinion.
Jimmy Barnes was from a group called "Cold Chisel" and he is also a solo artist. Diesel ( the guitarist) was in a band " Johnny Diesel and the Injectors" he and Jimmy married sisters so they are brothers in-laws. Maybe check out some of their music. Both highly regarded in the Australian music scene.
It's rare for an Aussie to hold a grudge, you are doing well because we appreciate honest and genuine people, we see that in your. Australia used to have a really strong music scene in the 80's and 90's, a lot of great music and bands.
John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes have made subscribers in most channels that react just explode. Its amazing music and they are a perfect duo. They have sung with all the greats all around the world but only in the last couple of years have they taken youtube by storm. The more you search the more you will be amazed.
Sad to hear that people have been rough on you. Nothing wrong with giving your honest opinion. Glad that you have found these great Aussie artists John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes are pretty much national treasure here in Oz. Jimmy's brother-in-law Johnny Diesel who was on guitar also has an impressive lists of hits you might like to check out sometime.
Trouble is, aussies have so many national treasures that it’s little wonder that other countries don’t know lol I’ve come to know now watching reactions that we were absolutely spoilt growing up (me) in the 60s/70s/and 80s lol
My brother. No need to continuously apologise about this. We (Aussies) generally don't want to "cancel culture" people. If we don't agree we will give you our opinion. BUT Also realise that this is YOUR channel! and people who watch this are watching your reactions, so please just be open and honest, stick to your guns. No one is always 100% correct (especially when it is opinion based). P.s. This is your first time hearing Jimmy Barnes? WOWZERS!!! This is going to be a fun rabbit hole for you to dive down. Jimmy is ICONIC in Australia and has (IMO) the best Aussie voice of all time (I prefer Jimmy's raspiness than John's style).
People rarely apologise and own things, absolute respect for that - us Aussies appreciate that quality in people. You've got a new subscriber in me. Enjoy getting to know our world class artists 🤩
Jimmy is just as iconic and loved by us Aussies as John is. I have had the privilege of seeing both live on stage several times. They are both brilliant entertainers.
I enjoyed your reaction:) it is always fun watching someone else enjoy the music as much as we do! I am not sure if you have listened to(just stumbled onto your channel) Angels, and Amazing Graze with John Farnham. The live version of Angels is a treat, and I am pretty sure you would enjoy it:) Thank you for a fun reaction, I can't wait to see more of them!
They are legends. We still ❤️ them, there talent is incredible. I was blessed to see them live in concert a couple of times. Still trying to remember how many. John Farnham is my absolute no. 1. Jimmy Barnes a close second. I regard John Farnham as the G.O.A.T(Greatest of all time). That’s just my opinion. ❤️❤️❤️John Farnham & the magic that is his voice. ❤️❤️❤️❤️your reaction to this one!
Loved you humble intro and to be fair, I think the stark differences you saw between the studio versions of some Aussie artists vs the live versions is exactly why some don’t make it as big as they otherwise might have internationally. The album versions have a tendency to be overproduced and take away from the raw emotive magic that you get live. For Australians to really love an artist as much as we do with the ones you are going to get recommended to you, they have to spectacular vocally live (and make you feel the song’s message) and/or be an amazing storyteller. Have fun on your journey !

Jimmy Barnes's band, Cold Chisel, wrote and recorded a song called "When The War Is Over". John Farnham did a cover of this as well and you should check that out. It's brilliant. I'm also loving your channel. I have spent an entire afternoon watching all your uploads. You're very genuine. But us Aussie can get a bit feral sometimes. We protect our own like den mothers. Jimmy is another soul singer that is an amazing Aussie that was in a band called cold chisel. That band is great. Then jimmy went on his own. We need to send you Aussie treat to eat while watching these clips.
Congrats on growing your channel Mike, and long may it continue. I laughed when you said you'd never heard of Jimmy Barnes, another Aussie icon. There's a whole other rabbit hole for you. And the guitarist, Diesel (Mark Lisotte) is another icon of Aussie music on his own.

We Aussies are a pretty cool bunch hey. There are some that don’t, but the vast majority of us are willing to forgive and move on. We all know that John is devastated and perhaps some of the harsher comments were an attempt to protect him when we know he’s down kind of thing. Just a thought. Btw, subscriber number 595 here 😊
