Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you're investing into can't make good use of that capital. So, if you're trying to invest in businesses with actual growth, looking at dividends is a waste of time. Why are you investing into a company if they're returning capital to you because they think you can make better use if it than they can. It's not much different from bond investing. The way I see it, if you have a $1 million at some point, that'd be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 50k - 70k in dividend income.

Our rent where I live is now over 1000 for a one bedroom I think it’s mostly because people from Cali moved here it our rent went ridiculous high even if you were trying to buy a house people from Cali our paying 100 to 150 thousand over asking price and I would move but I need a job and I can’t say I could find one easily by moving
Yea, 1000.00 a month for rent is impossible. In Cali. You will be homeless before you find that. Unless you rent a room somewhere but that's just roo.m.
I think you will be able to literally change your life with it... I am grateful to have jumped in at 40. Kick some ass and find yourself financially independent!!!

Great video Joe! Yes, it takes time to build up your portfolio but its worth it. I'm in my early 50,s and just retired from 15 years on the job. I'm living off of dividends using F.I.R.E. method. As always great stock tips. I own a lot of the quarterly payers like A.T.&T, MO, XOM and get a divy every month as each of the aforementioned companies pay on different months so there's a steady monthly income, but I do have some spare cash set aside and will look at the ones you recommend to enhance my monthly income.
In theory this is possible, but you should also mention how much investment is needed to reach $2000 with just an avarage monthly yield of 1.25% .. that's 200k .. with 200k you can buy a very nice house in most countries.
@@mlb1mhs yeah, North America is probably different. I am from Europe. If I had 200k i could buy family homes near the coast. Not mansions, but decent with 3 bedrooms average, and some nice chunk of land around it.
@@kjell4439 the point of this is to generate income. If you come into a good chunk of money, say $200K-$300K and buy a house or sports car you will either depreciate or slightly appreciate. Will your $200K home be appreciating an average monthly yield of 1.25%? No. Use this strategy and in just over 8 years you'll have a house AND still have $200K generating $2K a month (not adjusting for inflation). No one is saying you need to generate this high either, aim for $100K and work from there while paying a mortgage then upgrade, etc. Or play options for lower upfront costs with greater risk.

I'm glad RUclips recommended you video. I totally subscribed once I watched your penny stocks video. Now I'm watching this one on dividends. Great info!
Hi Joseph. I watch a lot of these channels and just recently found yours. I find it to be one of the most comprehensive and understandable for newer dividend investors like me. Thank you.
Here it is two years later and the only winner from the 7 recommended dividend stocks is SBR. If you bought and held SBR since Joseph's recommendation you'd be up over 100%, plus dividends. Could have, should have, would have!! The other 6 dividend stock recommendations didn't fare well at all, especially ACP. All in all, not a very good 'batting average'. Hoping 2024 will be a banner year for stocks! Good luck to all.
Agree with everything you shared, I built my dividend portfolio during Covid and couldn't be happier with that decision. Like you said, there's no smoke here, it takes money to make money, but less time than if you worked for the rest of your life.
Do you have other dividend stocks other than the ones discussed in the video? If yes, do you mind sharing. I'm trying to find the best ones for me. Looking for long term like 20 years. Thanks.
I hope these are good long-term recommendations. I bought each in small amounts last May as a test. Even re-investing the dividend, after nine months SBR is on pace for a 45% annualized return, PSEC for a 1% return, but the rest are all down an average of around 9%.
I'm not looking to pick a fight here, but if you look at the historic return via price appreciation of these symbols, you'll see that over time the standard "issue" with dividend investing holds true. Below are the total (not annual) returns for the tickers mentioned since their inception. Remember, when the price goes down, so does your principal AND your total dollar payout (since the dividend is a percentage of the price). It is more realistic to anticipate a 3% dividend and an average 3-5% annual price appreciation unless you are employing some incredibly aggressive and complex strategies. Data from Google Finance returns rounded to the nearest whole percent. Horizon since Oct 2010 - 5% QYLD since Dec 2013 - negative 11% PSEC since Jul 2004 - negative 45% ACP since Jan 2011 - negative 38% Sabine since Dec 1982 - 173% (appx 3%/year, compounded) Dynex since Mar 1988 - negative 66%
It depends on where you are at in life. If you have a ton of money to invest and are near retirement, I think that high yield dividend stocks are worth it. But if you are just starting out and want to grow your investment long term, there is too much risk with super high dividend payouts. I think the growth is more important when you are young and starting out! IMO.
Great example at the end of "in less than ten years" you'll be where you need to be. One hack to speed up the process might be to have your dividends be reinvested into more shares of the stocks you own
So true that's called DRIP "Dividend Re-Investment program" anywhere that does fractional shares usually has this as an option! Until you're ready to live off your dividends you just consistently revinvest!
The Robinhood app does a great job with this. If you don't have it set up that way, it automatically reminds you to set that option. My account is still small, but with the rate this is going up, I wonder if I should set up part of it as a Roth IRA for taxes, since I don't max out my contributions to my 401k presently.
You should also mention a tax element to this as well since the 24k would not come as tax-free from a div portfolio so technically you would need a minimum of 15% more for the initial capital in the fund up to 43% more to get that 24k return after tax. But solid picks, I will explore these further.
Agree about the taxes point. REIT, BDC, etc. dividends taxed as regular income if held in taxable account. I’d like a similar segment but focused on qualified dividends only, taxed at 15-20%.
Leave Cali. I did. Large homes are available in other parts of country for less than $100k. My 3 bedroom 2.5 bath, w car garage, large back yard cost $570/ month. I'll only go back to cali to visit.
Thanks for the video. Your right I did the math before I watched your video and with a thousand a month you can reach that number with monthly contribution. Amazingly $3k a month will get you to millionaire status with almost 20 years. Most of us don't have the luxury or means to invest thar amount but small amounts can compound. Time needs to be on your side and not live beyond your means.

Develop a trading plan and always adhere to it. Set stop-losses for every trade.. Don't risk more than 2% of your margin per single trade keep your emotions separate from trading. Never trade to compensate for your losses only trade when you feel it's the right moment....
I've been following several stock investing channels since I started investing over a year ago and this is by far the best. Thanks for the in depth explanations sir! Keep up the great work! 👍
@@ΒΞΔΝ Nope, NLY is down 20% over the last five years. VTI is up 105% over the same time period. (VTI represents the total stock market) Sure you'd be getting higher dividends with NLY that whole time, but it wouldn't make up for the losses.
Nice video i have liked your dividend videos as you show actual dividend companies. I dislike when other RUclipsrs have videos about top dividend stocks and then the stocks they pick are boring old blue chip companies that pay dividends of 3% or less which I do not really consider dividend stocks as they are more mature old growth companies that happen to pay a little bit in dividends. If I am looking for growth companies I will watch videos about them but if I am looking for dividend paying stocks I am looking for companies that typically pay over 7% or more.
I used to think capital appreciation was more important than dividends but I am starting to gravitate towards maximizing dividends while capital fluctuates

Question: What if you dollar cost averaged into the stock and reinvested the monthly dividends into getting more shares of each company on this list? Would this not reduce the amount of money needed to make that $2000 per month? It would also reduce the time it takes you to get to your goal. By the way, I appreciate you take the time to put this list together, I will do my own due diligence and do further research on the stocks mentioned in this list.

I just Googled her name and her website came up right away. It looks interesting so far. I sent her an email and i hope she responds soon. Thanks
Several of the biggest market experts have been voicing their opinions on exactly how awful they think the next downturn would be, and how far equities may have to go, as recession draws closer and inflation continues well above the Fed's 2% objective. I'm trying to build a portfolio of at least $850k by the time I'm 60, therefore I need suggestions on what investments to make.
@Robert I've been in touch with a financial analyst ever since I started my business. In theory this is possible, but you should also mention how much investment is needed to reach $2000 with just an avarage monthly yield of 1.25% .. that's 200k .. with 200k you can buy a very nice house in most countries.

I'm a long term investor so, high monthly dividend is more important for me.
I hope these are good long-term recommendations. I bought each in small amounts last May as a test. Even re-investing the dividend, after nine months SBR is on pace for a 45% annualized return, PSEC for a 1% return, but the rest are all down an average of around 9%.
Are you down 9% after considering the dividends you received?
@@Peltonimo Hi, James. I appreciate the interest and question...Please reread my post for the answer.
Horizon since Oct 2010 - 5%
QYLD since Dec 2013 - negative 11%
PSEC since Jul 2004 - negative 45%
ACP since Jan 2011 - negative 38%
Sabine since Dec 1982 - 173% (appx 3%/year, compounded)
Dynex since Mar 1988 - negative 66%
@@wfla2285 100%
You should also mention a tax element to this as well since the 24k would not come as tax-free from a div portfolio so technically you would need a minimum of 15% more for the initial capital in the fund up to 43% more to get that 24k return after tax. But solid picks, I will explore these further.
Always set 30% aside from your dividends for tax purposes.
you can stick them in a Roth IRA and not even worry about tax :-)
Agree about the taxes point. REIT, BDC, etc. dividends taxed as regular income if held in taxable account. I’d like a similar segment but focused on qualified dividends only, taxed at 15-20%.

I'll take slightly less dividends if it will allow me to keep my capital or even better allow for my invested principal to keep growing.

Please is Julia Mac accepting new clients? How can I get in touch to her. I am currently depressed because I have lost all my money trading

Plead with her to trade for you. I wish you the best
That intro was GREAT. You got a thumbs up immediately
I'm in $DX and like it.. another mreit to consider is $AGNC it pays monthly as well! Also for a kickass yield try CLOs like $OXLC and $ECC. $ECC just raised its div and $OXLC most likely will next quarter! Some other monthly payers to consider... are $PCI and $AWP . Good luck to all!

Where do you invest your stocks?
@@xZaaminator I use TDA
Question: What if you dollar cost averaged into the stock and reinvested the monthly dividends into getting more shares of each company on this list? Would this not reduce the amount of money needed to make that $2000 per month? It would also reduce the time it takes you to get to your goal.
By the way, I appreciate you take the time to put this list together, I will do my own due diligence and do further research on the stocks mentioned in this list.
yes
So did following the dollar cost averaging work with the dividends and get you the 2k per month? It's been two years.
You really got me with the NY & CA comment 🤣
I would definitely prefer a little bit lower of a dividend yield coupled with the higher (increasing) share price vs the higher yielding dividends with a lower (decreasing) share price, but that is just me. Less anxiety lol
I'm with you James. I also require that both my dividends and share price increase faster than inflation.
Ur channel grew quick!! Good workk
Love your Videos, thank you so very much...
This channel has gotten HUGE! Congrats sir!
Trading momentum stocks can get you to that 250k faster. The catch is you have to be very attentive to your portfolio on a daily basis.
Facts
I think you're wonderful. I'm wondering how you feel about DRIP stocks that use dividends to purchase more stock over time
Yeah, I've got HRZN. I've accumulated 167 shares. My goal is 240 shares. I don't have any of the other ones. I do have STAG, though.
Both good. Tough year for BDCs and REITs but will turn next year
I'm Canadian so I also benefit from the Canadian dividend tax credit - I prefer the tried and true - so chosen sectors are - banks / Telecom / Reits / Hydro utilities 😁
247k. Man I'll buy just to have some extra cash flow and buy as i go. Rent in Los Angeles, CA is 2400 for me so I need allot more. Haha. Thanks for the advice tho
I've put together a monthly dividend portfolio myself that has performed pretty well for me and it's only 6 stocks. It consists of GAIN, UTF, EOI, AWP, FAX and DIV. I would love to hear your thoughts on them.
Nice I own some shares of GAIN, you should look into MO Altria.👍
@@jiiggys4629 owned MO for quite some time now.
Very, very interesting. I'm not sure I trust these, but that's possibly because I'm not familiar with them. I will now hit the books and study up on them. Thank you for the education.

Thanks to this video and a few others I have just completed my second best month yet in dividend returns. Although I had a couple of dividend stocks over the years, I seriously started back in late March and begin of April with full on dividend chase after watching Joe and Jaspreet of MM. Anyway here are my results from taking Joe's advise: June: $6,507.92 for the month, $295.81 per work day, or 36.98 per hour. Thanks! And I keep rolling these dividends right back into current and new positions, tackling the next available exdate minus 1 for a snow ball effect.
Hi Steven, if you don't mind me asking... How much of your own money had you invested when you had these results?
what is exdate minus 1?
As of 10/19/22 for DX - Dynex Capital , I calculate the total return as -5%. (previous close of $11.95 and 5 year adj close of $12.69) So it is no longer a good monthly dividend choice to pick correct?
