My dividend journey began when I realized that two particular expenses in my budget were always going to go up and never go down. The two expenses were taxes and insurance. I realized that the dramatic rise in both will need some added income. So, I started buying shares paying dividends. I can now see that this will be the path I need to take to make sure those two expenses will not overtake my future income.
As a beginner, educate yourself, Learn the basics of investing and the stock market. There are many resources available online, including books, articles, and online courses. It’s a good idea to diversify your portfolio across different stocks and sectors to minimize risk. I’ve heard of people accruing over $550k during recessions and inflation, its important to do your own research.
People often overlook the value of financial advisors until they experience the downside of emotional decision-making. I recall a few summers ago, after a difficult divorce, when I needed help reviving my struggling business. I did some research and found a licensed advisor who worked diligently to grow my reserves, even amid inflation. As a result, my reserves grew from $275k to around $750k.
How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances.
Certainly, there are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with Sophia Maurine Lanting for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.
Thank you for this tip. It was easy to find your coach. Did my due diligence on her before scheduling a phone call with her. She seems proficient considering her résumé.
My strategy combines ETFs for dividends and growth, including JEPI, DIVO, QYLD, SCHD, and JEPQ. Last year, my dividends totaled $102K. but not sure how to mitigate risk thus far for this year.
I wholeheartedly concur; I'm 60 years old, just retired, and have about $1,250,000 in non-retirement assets. Compared to the whole value of my portfolio during the last three years, I have no debt and a very little amount of money in retirement accounts. To be completely honest, the information provided by invt-advisors can only be ignored but not neglected. Simply undertake research to choose a trustworthy one.
Certainly, there are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’Aileen Gertrude Tippy” for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.
Thank you for sharing, I must say, Aileen appears to be quite knowledgeable. After coming across her web page, I went through her resume and it was quite impressive.
I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since this can protect my portfolio for retirement. I'm seeking to invest $200K across markets but don't know where to start.
The professionals presently control the market since they not only have the essential business strategy but also have access to inside information that the general public is not aware of.
I agree, having a brokerage advisor for investing is genius! Amidst the financial crisis in 2008, I was really having investing nightmare prior touching base with a advisor. In a nutshell, i've accrued over $2m with the help of my advisor from an initial $350k investment.
Credits goes to "Mary Elizabeth Fugelsang" one of the finest portfolio managers in the field. She's widely recognized; you should take a look at her work.
Well, I feel investors should be focusing on under-the-radar stocks, and considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises plummeting stocks that were once revered and I don't know where to go here out of devastation.
My current holdings are: SCHD 5K Shares SOXQ 750 Shares, SCHG 750 shares, JEPQ 100 shares, VOO 275 shares and VGT. 275 shares. I'm 50 years old, FIRE and don't need the money, How best do i perserve and ensure growth of my portfolio for my grand-children?
Having SCHD and JEPQ are smart additions in my opinion. it's all about balancing your risk tolerance with your long-term goals. Partnering with a fiduciary advisor can help streamline your strategy.
I love SCHD and currently own 2604 shares. I regularly buy more shares, but I also invest in growth stocks/ETFs. Right now, I focus on growth, but I plan to switch to dividend-paying value stocks/ETFs eventually. It’s advisable to engage guidance for a well-diversified portfolio instead of relying solely on speculations. That’s what works for my spouse and I. We've made over 80% capital growth minus dividends.
Hey, I'm trying to find a certified one to boost my investments/portfolio, but it's tough online. Can I get a rec from you, since you know about this stuff?
Jennifer Leigh Hickman is the advisor I use and i'm just putting this out here because you asked. You can Just search the name. You’d find necessary details to work with to set up an appointment.
People will have to accept reality that we won't ever return to 3%. If sellers must sell, home prices will have to decline, and lower evaluations will follow. I now look towards the stock market to fuel my millionaire goal. Sure I'm not alone in my chain of thoughts.
I like both. But in my experience, most of the millionaires I know have gained their wealth through diversified investments and they all had a sort of financial advisor helping out with informed decisions.
@speak2selwyn I've worked in real estate for over 25 years and have neglected a major stock portfolio, however I need a different plan now.. mind if I look up the professional guiding you please?
@speak2selwyn thanks for the lead, just searched Karen by her full name, easily spotted her consulting page and was able to schedule a call session, she seems highly professional from her resumé
Bro…… it’s so old already and the fact that RUclips will block or get rid of real comments if it violates their rules but doesn’t do anything with the bots
Dividends from SCHD are typically taxed at the qualified dividend rate, which may be lower than ordinary income tax rates for many investors. However, the main focus for markets now is Nvidia, which has powered a large chunk of the S&P 500’s recent earnings. Nvidia’s stock, up more than 90% this year, rose 2.5% in New York on Monday, sending the Nasdaq 100 index to another record high. I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $350K portfolio, to boost performance. Here for ideas...
I think the next big thing will be A.I. For enduring growth akin to META, it's vital to avoid impulsive decisions driven by short-term fluctuations. Prioritize patience and a long-term perspective most importantly consider financial advisory for informed buying and selling decisions.
More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.
The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.
This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilising a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.
My CFA Carol Vivian Constable a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
Thank you for sharing, I must say, Carol appears to be quite knowledgeable. After coming across her web page, I went through her resume and it was quite impressive.
HRZN is my largest monthly paying company. Also have JEPQ, PFLT (will look again at PNNT), and watching to add SCM, partly because it pays mid-month the same as HRZN (and MAIN). I've swing traded AGNC, always watch it for dramatic drops to do it again. Need to look at SVOL again, but it likely holds companies I don't want to be involved with if I can help it. Hope you made it through Milton unscathed (other than power out). Still have a BIG limb on the roof, but no damage otherwise.... Thanks, Joseph.
Another great one Joe! Am not sure that I'll rent that NY apartment with blood on the floor for $1800? I'll pass. This was well done and well timed for Halloween 💞🤣🤣
Just because it's a ghetto does not indicate the people who live there is bad. Pension funds & crooked politicians create ghettos. Not crime or cockeroaches.
Why has HRZN been dropping ? I got in @$12. Would you double down on HRZN ? HRZN has been dropping for the last couple of months. today it's @$10.19 4 days later Oct.23rd mid day HRZN is down to $10.00
I have been a dividend focused investor for a long time. This does not mean I don't own growth stocks, I do. A well rounded portfolio should be a mixture of both categories. I invest in the market, but never put all my money in market.
The strategies are quite rigorous for the regular-Joe. As a matter of fact, they are mostly successfully carried out by pros who have had a great deal of skillset/knowledge to pull such trades off
In the case of Puerto Rico, gringos need to wear a bulletproof vest, drive a bulletproof car, and carry a gas mask (if you're thing is not 407 person nor a pro white powder individual). Bringing your own doctor and ambulance is a most (If you call 911, they never show up to your place and if they do its 5-10 hrs. after your call). Also Consider hiring a fully armed security team to be with you 24/7 (Do not hire local, they will be the first to set you up). Remember, you get what you pay for.
Lie. It is true that lately an anti-gringo sentiment has been created because they have tax incentives that the average Puerto Rican does not have, but there is no physical aggression towards them as long as they do not belittle us or try to screw us. Regarding crime, the normal thing is that drug dealers kill each other and do not screw with foreigners or locals who are not in that "business."

Nothing like that. Fact of the matter. During the last major storm. 90% of P.R . came to the USA with mexico. Gringo bought. All the real estate away from the suckers who sold.
