- We received some bees last week and this short little film is just taking a look at the food they eat. As we get used to this new relationship we will only take honey if there is any spare and I will take a little wax for making salves.
If you are interested in making salves and other herbal remedies consider my Introduction to Herbal Medicine course. One of the six modules is all about skin care and topical remedies - www.danusirishherbgarden.com/...
There are other courses too if you are interested in learning about herbal remedies - www.danusirishherbgarden.com/...
Another way to connect with the plant world is via the Wise Woman Way training that I offer. This is a transpersonal course using shamanic and druidic techniques as you travel around the Wheel of the Year.

If you are not sure where to start, consider taking a look at my books, The Weed Handbooks Volume 1 and Volume 2 as they offer an easy to understand introduction to plant medicine and how to use it.

Thanks so much for watching. We appreciate all your time and the comments. xx
My parents were beekeepers and I remember my mother making a special trip to tell the bees on the morning my father died.
I think that is one of the most important things to do - pass on the news and especially of deaths, births and marriages. I am very interested in all the folklore around bees. xx
That’s the same thing that my great grandmother had to do. My great grandfather’s bees had left the hives and she found them swarmed on his grave. She had to tell them that he had passed away and that they either needed to go home or find a new home. They all left and went somewhere else.
@@Geraldine76 I have heard of that happening.
Beautiful Bees …I love watching our Busy Bees we have Honeysuckle, Fuschia, Thistle, Poppies and lots of Wildflowers …but our Lavender we planted last year hasn’t come through yet …
I know it’s usually July we have had over a week of heavy rain though. Lol
We have Cherries, Lettuce,Tomatoes, Beetroot and Mint and Grapes are growing well…no Grapes this year as we only planted last year but my friend in Ireland has a good yield this year he planted the Grapes 3 years ago so we are very hopeful.
We don’t have big Gardens but we do what we can…We love our Wildlife and our daughter is doing really well…after undergoing Heart Surgery. I need to teach her Gardening and Natural Remedies now. We don’t live near them so is been difficult at the best of times.
I love your beautiful Land of Ireland Thankyou for sharing all your knowledge and Wisdom with us Terri and Lol Thankyou for your lovely videos they keep me sane atm. ☝️😅
🍒🥬🍅🫐🥕🍇❤️🌻☘️
I grew up in Scotland 7 years and then in England 52 years lol…my Dads family were fae County Mayo and Kilkenny nr. Derry.
You have had a quite stressful time so glad to hear that things are going well. Enjoy your flowers xx
I love bees so so much. My colony died last winter, so I have an empty hive now. I grieved and am now asking for a swarm to choose us one day 🐝 ✨
Sorry for your loss and fingers crossed a new swarm choses you xx
How exciting to have your own bees! And soon, your own honey! Keeping bees is a win-win for all. 💗 🐝🐝🐝
If they can spare any honey we will be glad of it but we won't take it all. Still a win-win to have all the extra pollinators xx
"Ask the wild bees what the Druids knew."
Ah yes - love that phrase. xx
Ever since I started raising bees, my life has changed for the better in many ways. Have fun at the meeting see you next week!
Carolyn I am sure that will happen for us too xx
I’ve been keeping bees for the last few years. They have taught me so much, humbled me and I am so grateful for them!
I've only just got them but love them and am so grateful to have them xx
My brother tried raising honey bees here in Upstate New York. He found that the bees were constantly sick. He had to medicate them so very often that he was discouraged and gave up.
I don’t use chemicals in my house or yard and I’m trying to plant my yard with native plants and flowers. I’m trying to help all I can, avoiding plastics as much as possible. Today is very hazy here from the Canadian wildfires. Our world is crying out for each of us to do what we can.
You are right, a reconnection with our Mother the Earth is desperately needed. xx
I heard that the sound of bees buzzing can have a very healing effect ❤
I can believe it - just standing next to the hive, the sound is very soothing xx
I wish you all the very best with your beekeeping adventure :) Thanks for sharing!
Thanks very much Frederic. xx
Fabulous...so chuffed for you. The bees could not be anything else other than happy to live in your lovely garden. 🌻🌞🍀. I hope the Bee convention was good.
Thanks Moira - the meet up was very pleasant and we met some very nice people. xx
Short but sweet! :) 🐝🐝🐝 And thanks to your husband/videographer, as well. He has a wonderful eye!
He really does! He enjoys getting the special shots and the B roll. I think it is because he is an artist that he sees so well. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Well, I'm an artist, so that's why I notice all the time! :)
I know the bees are very happy to be in your lovely garden! There's also folklore about "telling the bees" when events occur in the family. Apparently, they like to be informed. : )
I had read about that - so much to learn!! xx
Oh I love this video. I have many bees who stop by for a meal daily. Hahaaa
I am in and out of hospital for many issues and this turn when I came home I discovered to my great delight that my Plantain, Valerian and Mothetswart are all thriving.
Thank you so much for the guidance you give to all
My Rich surprised me with a statue of Bridgett 28 years ago. She hasn’t aged a bit and I adore her.
Cheers from South shore Long Island USA and 🐝 blessed
Many blessings to you too and wishing you well with your health. xx
Beautiful gardens, bees & puppies! Thanks for sharing & I hope you enjoyed the bee session! Blessings to all 🤗💗🇨🇦
Blessings to you too and thank you very much. xx Yes, we enjoyed the session x
Wow - what a lovely idea Bee keeping, can’t wait to see all the lovely honney and videos on the bees progress these beautiful insects are going to bring you 🙏🏻🐝🐝xx
WE are just offering them a home and if there is any spare honey it will be nice to get but we plan to leave it for the bees to have over winter. xx
Congratulations on your bee's 💖
I was blessed with a swarm 3 years ago at my home , I was prepared waiting for a swarm someday. That day had came I was so ecstatic I still am I love having bees at my home 💖 it is enchanting ✨💖
I already feel the enchantment. It is like having magic at the end of the garden xx
Bee sound is healing
I believe so - to me it is soothing and relaxing xx
I brought bees to the land this year. We are forming a wonderful friendship ❤
Glad to hear that - that is our intention too. xx
your garden / the land needs your love, as you said - and the bees! wonderful!
The bees are like another layer of love😀 xx
What a great idea to put a small beehive in the garden🐝 and also the plants that attract bees 💫🐝
We are offering them a safe space and a chance to multiply xx
Hello from Wallingford, Connecticut, USA. Our daughter has been a bee keeper for two years. Last week was the beginning of her second honey harvest. I’m using some from last year! Good luck and we so enjoy your weekly films😊🐝 🍯
Hello to you too xx
Keeping bees is fabulous!! I now have 11 hives and live catching swarms.
I will probably have to learn how to do that😧 xx
I love your videos. I especially love when the dogs run through and start playing. Maybe, can you do a video just on the dogs? Tell us about them and film them running freely. It would do my inner-city heart so much good 🐶
Here is one from a couple of years ago -ruclips.net/video/_fk34O0j7NQ/видео.html xx
This is such a perfect addition to your beautiful land. It just makes sense, oh and I love the necklace. 🐝
We've been meaning to do this for a very long time and it suddenly just seemed like -it's time, now! The necklace is a moonstone from my daughter. xx
Wonderful that you got bees! l love the sound. Enjoy!
Inside here today as the smoke from the Quebec fires is really bad - worst I've ever seen here and you can smell it too.
Look forward to hearing about your bee adventures. Many Blessings
Blessings of safety to you Cynthia - I hope the fires are put out soon. How do they happen, it hasn't been that hot has it? Take care! xxx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Most are from lightening but it was very dry this Spring so they have a lot of fuel. They are mostly in unpopulated areas and not easily accessable so they just let them burn.
@@cynthiahamblin-perry5880 I hope the smoke doesn't get too bad. xx
Bees are very important for the ecosystem and for humans, beekepers act as guardians. We've been keeping bees for more than 25 years and we've always been blessed and rewarded with their sweet and precious gifts like honey and propolis, a great adventure indeed since 2 of my 4 children seemed to be allergic to bee stings, we then solved this problem by adopting an increasingly healthy lifestyle in harmony with nature. Unfortunately this Spring, due to really unusual strong rains and cold, our bees are not so strong and we did not collect a single drop of honey yet, I heard that this situation is common among ny friends throughout central Italy. We all hope things will go better in Summer. I wish you and your bees a beautiful sweet adventure 🌸🐝🏵🐝🌺🐝🌼
Thank you so much and I wish the same for you - that your bees are restored to health and all goes well xxx
💚🙏
good morning dear Terri................your bees were in paradise........good luck..............Blessings and Greetings from Daggy,Kiel,Germany☘☘☘
Thanks so much Daggy xx
Hello there Terri, happy 🐝 time, thankyou for loving film, all t h e freshly watered green ery,and flowers. Im so pleased your bees are settling in n their new home. Have a wonderful week.😊take care,x
Thanks Hetty - wishing you and yours a great week xx
Welcome Bees ! How exciting for you & Lol. 🌞🪻💚
It really is. xx
When/if you do open the hive, and inspect for honey, queen cells, bee pollen, etc. Take the opportunity in finding the queen in the nursery. Use a small Q Tip of bright red/orange/yellow fingernail polish, lightly dab the back of her thorax - so she can be easily spotted later - it does no harm to her - and the other nursery females make no fuss about it.
The Bees look very content in their new home! I'm looking forward to my Silver Wattle coming in bloom & the arrival of the Bees! In the meantime our native Blue-banded Bees have been enjoying some Thai Basil that never seems to stop blooming. They are a Blessing & Joy Always🐝 'Eat Honey, for it is good for you' 🍯Wishing You a Beautiful Full Moon Terri🌝❤
And you too xx
I learned about bees when I needed to move them out from a roof eave without killing them.
Best tip to not being stung: stay out of their flight path 🐝 you'll definitely have fun tending them.
It's lovely already just knowing they are there. Thanks for the tip! x
I couldn't help but notice how your pendant necklace on top of your tattoo looked like a bee!! 💛
We have a farm called beesplease and they will help you set up. You can host a hive which is the easiest. Looking forward to more about your bees.
We are bee keepers and yes, I agree, I love to hear them ❤🐝
Lovely sunny day... Your bees are happy in the new garden 🤠
Yes they are - we have had a look at them and they are VERY busy xx
Bees 🍯 🐝
It's going to be quite exciting watching your progress. It's so important to do what we can to assist our bee population. I have an abundance of flowers and herbs that seem to keep them happy and I'm always grateful.
I bet they just adore your bountiful property 🐝💜. Warm hugs and thanks to you and Lol from Arizona.
Hellooo dear Terry! Thank you so much for this short but sweet update 💛 Wishing you, your beloved and all the wonderful beings of your magical garden lots of love, light and golden future ☀️⭐🌻I hope to subscribe and join one of your online courses very soon! Hugs and kisses 🤗😘
Big hugs to you too Francesca - I appreciate all your good wishes and you are very welcome to any of the courses. Have a wonderful week xx
Thank you Terri and Lol. All the best in your new adventure. Bees are our future, absolutely. Have you heard about St. Gobnait? It is nice to 'hear the busy bees', hard at it. Blessings from Canada. 🐝 Bee well.
Thank you Karen. Yes I have heard of her - she seems to be very similar to Brigid - with the connection to bees and to ironworkers, smiths xx

It is most wonderful xx have a great week xx
If your bees keeping, its best to keep some plantain tincure on hand for bee stings , it work wonders at reducing swelling
Yes, thanks, I have it here as well as Plantain Balm for just that xx
Good luck with your bees! That prospect of having honey from your own hive is wonderful. Cheers!
Yes, thanks but we won't be taking any honey unless there is a real surplus. Have a great week. xx
Beautiful 🐝 Thank you Terri 🐝 I am so happy for you 🐝 I don’t have a hive, but I have lots of bees in my garden. My soul is always so happy when I am around them. One thing I didn’t used to know was how many types of bees 🐝 there are, and how some of them are very small. I love seeing them and being around them.
I had noticed that myself - we have Miners, Bumble bees and others that I don't know the name of and then our own hive of bees now. It is wonderful to see the diversity xx
Have a great week Terri! Looking forward to your journey with bees, much love, Maria from Australia
Thank you Maria - we are looking forward to this too xx
Bees are very interesting
I love just st seeing & hearing them buzzing I have few types that come in to the gardens
I talk to them as I walk my paths in the gardens.i love just the fact of everything I do in my gardens they come in joy the plants and flowers 🌺🌹 I have added just for them . Hopefully Terri you'll have great success with your little bee's.
Thanks so much Michael. We have done the same and there is plenty of water for them so I think they will be happy now that they are resident xx
Dearest Terri...gorgeous bees...your garden looks incredible...!!! ❤❤❤ hoping to visit you one day!!! Love as always!
Love to you too Olga - enjoy your week xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden 🥰
You’re so blessed to have the bees 🥰
Incredibly so! Great good fortune xx
So happy to see your bees so busy beautiful filming as always hope you enjoyed your trip Xxxx
WE did although it was way over our heads but we got to meet some lovely people xx
You should get a little screen for the bottom of the hive opening. It will catch all the bee bread that falls off the bees. It is high in nutrients and vitamins. It also helps with allergies too. I give it to my kids and it has really helped with their allergies. I wish I could have a hive, but my friends have land and they have bees so I can still get the local honey and bee bread from them.
Thanks for the tip! I had heard of bee bread but no idea what it was. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Bee Bread is all the pollen that the bees have collected throughout the day going from flower to flower. They use it to make food. Sometimes once they are going into the hive it falls off. It's really good for you.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Pollen traps are good at certain times when the bees are bringing in plenty or are at risk of reducing laying area for the queen by plugging it with pollen, only leave them on for a short time though, it is important for them to have lots of fresh pollen from different sources. Let them establish well before harvesting anything they produce. Good luck!
Thank you for the introduction to bee keeping. Looking forward to hearing all you learned from your meeting. Safe Travels.
Thanks Susan - we had a very pleasant time and met some lovely people xx
I love your bees! I am hosting leaf cutter bees in my garden. ❤️
We have evidence that they are here too. I wonder if they will all get on. Have lots of learning to do. xx
So excited for you and your beautiful bees❤️🙏
We are too. We are lucky that we have a really good beekeepers association here and they can help us to with hands on experience. xx
we had our own bee hive on the farm when I grew up
How lucky to grow up with them - and the wonderful smell of honey and wax. xx
Wonderful bees, looking forward to next week.
Us too! We will be opening the hive sometime during the week and having a look to check on them xx
Hi Terri, I’m so happy for you! What species of bees are they?
Thanks Michele - they are known locally as Connemara Blacks so they are Apil mellifera, mellifera. They are the original European Honey Bee, very calm and tranquil and lovely to work with xx
Thank you for the information, Terri. I will look that up. I’m just curious. I love making beeswax candles.
Wonderful and so exciting for you to have bees x
A new journey - very exciting! xx
I enjoy learning as you are also learning.❤
Learning is a life long activity😀
Your show is very calming.
Glad you found it so xx
I have a bee house to help out. Not allowed to have a hive. I love the bees. Can’t wait to hear what you’ve learned. Blessings
Blessings to you too Susanna , and on your bee house - everything helps xx
I have some bees also, I have travelled a similar path as you are and I relate very well with your content, its my favorite. Thank you
You are so welcome Mark. Great to hear from someone on a similar path xx
Your videos lift my heart.
Awww! Thank you - so glad they do that for you xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden My Grandad grew his own veg, my Gran grew herbs round the side of the house. I remember her lavender bags in the draws and camomile tea as a kid. I miss them a lot but I found your channel and it ticks that box. Thank you.
Hello Terri, I think it's going to "bee" really interesting learning the process, wonderful too.

It is definitely interesting, we have a lot to learn xx Blessings to you too xx
How wonderful you’re diving into bees! I’m making summer lotion bars for gifts to keep loved ones from drying out this summer with all the gardening, swimming and sun exposure. I also bottled up rose water for sun burns. I look forward to learning how you use the honey and wax.
Well Samantha that will be some time before I show that as we are not intending to take anything from the bees until they are settled in and have anything to spare. I am dreaming of harvesting wax particularly, so keeping fingers crossed that they will be generous xx
We are starting with bees as well. Looking forward to comparing notes. Cheers!
Sounds great! Good idea. We are pure novices but hoping to hit a learning curve. xx Good luck with yours
Bees what a great addition. Thank u for the education
Hope you had a great visit with the beekeepers. Xx
They were wonderful - so friendly and helpful but this was a meeting for the advanced bee keepers really. Still we definitely know that we know next to nothing😂 - a steep learning curve coming up. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden All the best with it.
Wonderful video and the visual quality is really good! I love your gardens and medicine plants. It rains far too much where I live and high winds often as well. But I have seen wild honey bees some years. Good luck and Bee Kind as always.
Thank you very much! Where do you live? We get lots of rain too😂
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Three weeks later-----We have about 150 inches or 3,800mm per year on average on the north end of Haida Gwaii, BC, Canada. The winds often reach hurricane force gusts and are very intense. It seldom gets hotter than 22C in summer. Still, it is magical and beautiful here.
Oh! PS, I had a dream about 10 days ago about a queen bee giving me a bunch of bees from her hive saying she had to go away quickly and could I please take care of these bees. She didn't communicate in words. I'm still working on the dream. There was a woman who crossed over a week before that who had once had a wonderful cafe called Queen Bee's. She was very generous and kind.
Hiya Terri I missed this visit soo having a peek now simply fascinating. Blessings luv 🇨🇦🐝

Oh, Terri! Splendid!
Yes - it really is. xx
It's very exciting that you have got a bee hive, I look forward to following you on this journey, well done, and thanks for sharing.
It is very exciting - I am loving just having them and looking after them. xx
Thanks for that... Spot on timing, I've recently been give a couple of old hives 👍🏼
Brilliant - good luck with yours xx
I love bees. I plan on getting a hive and raising bees. Every year near my little cabin there is one tree in particular a large group goes to in early spring. I hope a group splits and i can have native bees in my hive.
If you have a hive I think you have to bait it with something the bees love. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thank you for the tip.
I lost a two year old colony to wax moth last winter, but as soon as I cleaned out the hive a new colony moved in. They appear to be doing well, but I plan to keep an eye on things.
Keeping fingers crossed for you - what good luck that they moved in xx
I would love to do this!
We are looking forward to getting stuck in. xx
Such happy looking bees! Thank you for adopting them!
We are happy to give them some space for themselves. It is unlikely we will take anything from them as the objective is to just give them a safe space but we have discovered that we do have to interact with them more than we thought to ensure they do stay safe. xx
What a good thing bees
So important to look after them. I have been doing some research and what is going on out there is horrific!! xx
Beautiful
Thank you - glad you liked it xx
Wow! Wonderful... I've planted loads of wild flowers this year.. hoping to help bees and others that are suffering due to modern brainless corporated industrial farming methods.. they shouldn't really be described as farming at all... oops! I digress 🤣.. I hope all goes well with the hive and your life in general 😀 take care 💚🌳🌻🦋🦉🙏🧙♂️💕
Thanks so much Sean., I agree it is sad the way many farmers don't even leave the house these days - ????? I don't understand it. xx
Naturally I couldn't help but subscribe, I like your presentation, you seem very kind/thoughtful.
You are very welcome here, hope you enjoy future videos xx
Lovely 💕
I think it will be xx
the honey that the bees make is the food of the bees and we should leave their food to them and only take a little of it as medicine and only like that. And we must not forget the wild bees .
At least 50% of the people here leave the honey with the bees which is wonderful. We will be the same xx
Good luck with your new venture. X
Thank you Bernadette xx
