is there rly noone who watches this awesome runner doing this in the background? wtf man.
It was like 3:30 in the morning when the run started. Only people that would watch it live are people in different timezones and maybe a few madlads staying up past their bedtime.

Is there any specific reason why speedrunners always choose the girl trainer? Almost every time i saw a speedrun, always saw they go with the girl.
I think there are some differences, and if i remember correctly the boy has shorter dialouge than the girl trainer
The natures of your Rival's Pokémon change depending on the Rival's gender.Picking the girl has the positive advantage of having Brendan's Grovyle being Rash nature on the second battle. Rash nature is negative Special Defense, which allows us to need to use less X Sp. Atks to defeat it. It is very useful being able to one shot that Grovyle as it can kill you with Mega Drain from full HP.
The battle I am talking about can be seen at 50:19.
As for other speedruns, it really depends. Most of them have similar advantages, in some it's preference, and in Generation 7 playing with the boy would be faster for instance.
That is not true. I'm not even sure there is a single frame of difference in text between them.
@@wartab probably thinking of other games (platinum iirc?) That have dialogue differences

Wouldn't it have been smarter to play Omega a Ruby because of how good Mudkip is against Team Magma
Mudkip actually has less trouble with Team Aqua in several sections, like Mt. Chimney.That said, there was a bid war to either make me play Alpha Sapphire or Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire won that bid war.The games are essentially equally fast.

I am taking tips on which Pokémon to use. I am about to speedrun this.
I usually just go for Mudkip-Latios-groudon
anyone know the silk scarf was removed right before the brawly fight? Shouldn't it help with the echoed voice for the gym battle?
He mentions it: the second pokemon knows knockoff which it will use when the game sees you holding an item - you would loose the scarf then
Correction - you won’t loose the item, but the attack and text is probably slower then running without
In addition, Knock Off deals 50% more damage to a Pokemon holding an item- going from 65 base power to 97~98 base power.
There are multiple reasons.
First, the Machop will take too much damage. Keeping Silk Scarf will knock it below 25%, which is when Brawly decides to heal. This sucks, because Machop is the one that deals the big damage.
Then, Makuhita knows Knock Off. Even with Silk Scarf it is not guaranteed to kill it in one hit. This is problematic, because Makuhita will usually use that move if you are holding an item. And Knock Off becomes quite powerful when you are holding an item.
So overall, it just makes the battle much riskier and doesn't even save time in most cases.
