I guess the rollicky rhythm *might* date it, but the lyrics are timeless. This is great song that people can still apply relevantly in their lives.

Chanel 9 TV in Australia had a 5 hour sports program on Saturday afternoons and the ending credits were this song with dozens of sports clips of winners and failures from all different sports from around the world. A brilliant piece of film.

These guys were really tight back then and they had so much joy playing music together. just sheer joy. That is until the pressures of family and money and maybe to a certain degree pain. You just never really know what someone is thinking or feeling at anyone time. I just looked up Larry Hoppen the lead vocalist on this song has been gone from our presence 10+ years. I have read that he was a very giving person who would help out anyone. I have been fortunate to not to have known that many people who chose to end their lives early. Maybe aging was a factor. He was 61. But the sting of death touches all those who loved and will cherish his memory. Ironically Larry wrote one of their comeback hits. "Love Takes Time". Larry never had enough time to Love himself.

Nevertheless, a fabulous song on several levels, not the least of which is its vitamin-like ability to spread happiness like a nourishment wherever it plays.

No, they didn't. It was used in 77 and 79, not 76. You can find the promos here on RUclips. And ABC didn't pick it in 77. The late, great Harry Marks had the inspiration for the 77 spot on his own and produced the promo before showing it to ABC execs because ABC had said they couldn't afford to finance a promo campaign for the 77 season. They loved it and had Marks continue, but they ruined it by insisting that the stars of their shows appear in the following years, which made them a lot more expensive (and hokey, with lots of mugging for the camera).
