Prime is not a bad company. It is what you make it. I got a buddy of mine teaming with his wife. They are buying their truck.
Just bought a house. He makes lot of money.
I know someone who doesn't have to work. He owns 15 trucks, teams on all of them. Buys new truck whenever he feels like adding another team. Private financing, he averages $120,000 to $160,000 a week in revenue, that's before expenses.
My point is opportunity is whatever you make it.

Man!!! When he said “ get out and help that new driver… “ and “ THIS IS A COMMUNITY..” that hit home! Been on my own 4 months , started training about 7 months ago, and I’ve helped a few new drivers already the way my trainers helped me! I know it Made a difference in those drivers days! If you have 20 years or 20 months ,we should all learn something new every day and help other drivers when need be!! Love the vibes this guy puts out!

Mountains are crazy and now I will start learning how to drive in the snow. But its all amazing and a learning experience.

Look for a 13 speed manual for your first truck.
If you plan on running the Rockies regularly you might want an 18 speed manual.
Always go down one gear lower than you went up and DO NOT TRY SHIFTING GOING DOWNHILL.
Use the Jake brake to slow the truck and feather the brakes every 5 mph like 45 back to 40 or 40 back to 35 until you're all the way down.
This prevents the brakes from overheating like the 24 yo that crashed going down I-70.
      Stay safe

Don't lease from the company you drive for. If you can't pull off a load board you're getting screwed. I had $17k gross last week with a lease purchase truck & carrier only gets 12%. $12k after ALL expenses. You can't do that with these lease purchase programs where your carrier controls what freight you pull...

The system wants you to lease. So they can make a butt load of money off you. I only took 1 load less than $1000 but that was an intrastate load.

I love when he said every driver has a day 1, week 1, month 1 and year 1. Nobody began this career a super trucker. Nothing irks me more than driver bashing other drivers that are new or heckling them on the CB because they struggled backing into the spot. And one thing common in all these rude super truckers is none of them ever offer any help or advice. Just bashing and criticism. I pissed a friend off once who had only been a driver for less than 5yrs to my 20+ years. And he was just talking mad shit about new drivers and how stupid and what not they are in the shop amongst a bunch of other driver and one new guy with his head hung low. I was just listening shaking my head feeling bad for this new guy. When he made the mistake of pointing me out and saying “you know what I mean Bill” of course I said yeah I know exactly what you mean. I remember how bad you sucked as a driver when you were new and couldn’t back into a spot for shit even when the two spots next to it were clear. Oh he was mad 🤣🤣🤣 then I started sharing some of his new driver stories because I knew all the embarrassing newbie dirt on him. Kindness and helpful advice to a long way, why can’t people do that instead of bashing and heckling the new guy. And sadly I’ve seen driver trainers talking shit on new guys. Those guys shouldn’t be teaching anyone anything!

Here at Prime, new trucker been off my trainer truck for 3months now. Love Prime setup. Jumped right into it as a lease operator. My fleet manager has poor communication which is making my Prime experience not so golden. It's hard changing fleet managers. Only other issues is Prime under bidding on loads. It reduces the bottom line. You can't keep rejecting shitty loads; and now crappy pay loads are not being balanced with great paying loads.

What makes his attitude so positive I believe is that he's probably been in alot worse situations than what Trucking can throw at him.... Just sayin...

Does anybody ever drive a truck that’s paid for ??? Trying to find someone who drives a paid for truck and talks about how things go without a payment to worry about. I’m thinking about buying a truck with cash and starting my Owner Operator experience debt free. It’s a big chunk of money so I wanna make sure it’s worth it
