  • Welcome to an intimate tour of St. Ann's Academy's Interpretive Centre and Chapel in Victoria, BC, Canada. Join me as I walk through this National Historic Site with volunteer extraordinaire Ronnie Booth, who has been sharing the Academy’s rich history for over three months. You'll hear fascinating details about the building’s origins and its role in the community, along with a visit to the beautiful chapel, a place of deep personal significance to me-my younger sister was married here before passing away from breast cancer 11 years ago. Across the street is St. Joseph's Hospital, where my sister, my father, and I were born.
Special thanks to Ronnie for her warm and informative narration, bringing the history and heart of St. Ann's Academy to life.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge that this footage was captured on the unceded territory of the Lekwungen people of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations.
My channel is dedicated to bringing you new adventures every weekend, allowing you to explore the world of planes, trains, automobiles, food reviews, and tourist attractions in the vibrant capital city of Victoria, Vancouver, British Columbia and across this vast country of Canada. As my horizons expand, so do the journeys across the vast and beautiful landscapes of Canada. New flights are added to the Planes Playlist at 4:00 am Pacific time every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There are almost 250 seaplane videos in the Planes playlist. Thanks for taking your front row seat with a first class ticket in the lounge.
In the spirit of giving back, my channel is monetized, and I am thrilled to share that 10% of my earnings will be donated to various charitable organizations. By tuning in, you're not just enjoying captivating content; you're also contributing to a greater good. Together, we can make a difference!

Great looking thumbnail, Corrie. I think it is interesting that the main entrance was actually built during the second addition. The building looks exceptional, especially given that the newest part of the structure is over a century old. I wonder what the original entrance looked like, and where it was situated. Also some great information on the refurbishment of the architecture. Kudos to Canadian Paint & Paper for their diligence with recreating the brush-work in the painting style of the time. Lovely vault ceilings in the chapel. Thanks for sharing the tour, Corrie.

@Astromechy, it's funny you mentioned the thumbnail, I have lots of pictures of St. Ann's in all seasons but none captured the whole building. As I was putting the final touches on the video, I realized I had better go back and see if I could get a picture of the building, this was the result my camera was on as wide angle as it could be. Not too bad. It is a stunning building, and I'm happy it got an exceptional renovation and seismic upgrade. Like you, I love the ceilings in the chapel. Thanks for your always kind words, engagement and support, I am truly grateful. Best....Corrie

@KensHobbies409, the tour kind of caught me by surprise too. I was cutting through the Academy heading to the harbour. I saw the sign that said "tours on Thursday", the angel on my shoulder said "go in, see what it's all about", the result was this video. It is only the second time I have been in this historic building and it's mere minutes from my home. Thanks Ken, I am truly grateful for your kind words and support. Hope it's not too cold in P.G. yet. Best...Corrie

great video my lady. Saddened to hear of your sis. Like most families it touches most of us. I have my mom, and 2 sisters who also died from it as I also deal with it.. Well done like you have done it before

@gettingold59, Allan, you are a kind soul. It's unfortunate the comment you make is so true "it touches most of us". My sincere condolences for your losses. The Terry Fox Foundation is one of my chosen charities. Terry Fox is true Canadian hero. As I don't have a memorial place to visit my sister, instead, I visit the Terry Fox Memorial when I need to pause and reflect. The Terry Fox Memorial is about a kilometre from St. Ann's Academy. Visiting St. Ann's brought back a flood of memories, I hadn't been there since my sister was married there. I had such a lovely time with Ronnie, the tour guide of this video. This is a format of video I would like to explore more often, hidden gems and interesting places. Stay tuned! Best....Corrie

Even though i am an only child and none of my immediate family have been affected we lost my sister in law to it just over a year ago. I also lost a sister in law to diabetes five years ago and my brother in law two years ago. So as you can imagine i have seen first hand how the loss of a family member affects those left behind. I am just thankful that my wife's diabetes is under control and i have my health. Thanks for a thought provoking video.

@gettingold59, Allan, I did not make it to Martin's grand opening. Once the hype slows down, I will make my way to the BC Aviation Museum and have a good look around. I always find it difficult to record with lots of people around. Thanks Allan, I am truly grateful for your kind words and support. Best....Corrie
