At Christmas 2011 we stayed at The Empress. A fellow tourist, a young guy, told us at breakfast that the previous night an apparition of a man in a vintage suit stood next to his bed. He was startled and told the man to just "go away" several times. He then swung a punch at the man from his bed which went through him. The moustached man,showing no emotion, then straightened his tie and vanished. This young guy knew nothing about Francis Rattenberry as we were part of an Australian tourist group. He said he didn't believe in ghosts until then.
Ohhhh! I was reading this aloud and our hair at the back of our necks and arms raised lol that’s creepy. We had a weird electrical issue when we were there, like portions of the room had power the other half didn’t, if that was a ghost, we didn’t really think about it until after we have read the horror stories. Hopefully we can visit this place someday, really looks beautiful. I have heard a lot of ghost stories of the Empress too.👍
