I was a life long friend of J.D. Sumner and all of the Stamps Quartet all my life . We just lost Ed Hill last month . He was known for the statement at Elvis's concert , " Elvis has left the building " . This was Elvis Presley's favorite song !
A wonderful singer and a great friend to Elvis, JD even said Elvis helped him more than he knew, he helped save his marriage, his career and helped him get off alcohol, I wish Elvis had more friends like him!
Elvis loved JD’s voice! Whenever he hit them deep, low notes he would look to JD for his reaction. Even on stage. Watch for it. It’s beautiful to see. 🙏
Years after Elvis' death....they still sing it so emotional and beautiful. In the Elvis on Tour film they sang it also just superb. Such sublime voices.
For me, heaven would be listening to Jd the stamps quartet and Elvis all singing around a piano. There are some I'm sure who got to be that fortunate, sadly they wouldn't have thought so.
At one time, JD made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for hitting the lowest “C” note in the piano singing with the Stamps Quartet. He also hit that note singing on Elvis last LP on the song, “Way Down” which hit the charts after Elvis died.

Rip JD Sumner. The best bass singer ever.
May J.D. and Elvis sing praises to the King of King forevermore in heaven.
J.D.'s voice is INSANE! His speaking voice is lower than most guys' lowest notes!
