The Fabia deserved the top spot IMO. A remap will actually see 180bhp reducing the 0-60 time to around 6.5 seconds and a top speed of a 140+mph and still manage 50+mpg so the extra £250 for the remap and the £200 extra you would spend on insurance you would actually get back from saving on your fuel cost.

    • @CarsWithJB

I agree, it's my favourite, but as said I have to keep things as unbiased as poss! Agree with the remap too - you can get some serious performance out of that 1.9 block

I highly recommend the t sport. Amazing, quick economical car. All my mates have new fiestas and polos, while I have my 16 year old Yaris that smokes them😂😂 keep in mind that the only problem I have with it is that the seatbelt thing that pulls it back in is quite weak, so often u find the seatbelt hanging out the car scratching the paint and the bit underneath the door. Just let anyone know if they are gonna go in it so u don’t damage anything. Also the dials being in the middle of the dashboard instead of behind the wheel are so much better, takes time to get used to but is brilliant. There are plenty of mods available too. At the moment, I have wind deflectors, exhaust and a speaker system. I plan on new rims, painting callipers and 4d plates. I’m gonna upload videos regarding the Yaris on my channel, and on my insta too(same name). Chuffed to see it at number 1😂😂 also, the car is quite rare. I’ve only ever seen one other on the road, and only saw max of 5 on sale on autotrader at a time. There are (I believe) around 1,600 in the country. Rarest colour is blue, most common being grey.

I went for a VW 1.2 04 polo with 72k miles for my first car last year. Didn’t last long at all, engine light was near enough permanently on just all round quite bad. Switched it up to a 1.4 1998 Honda Civic ej9 74k miles with the car and insurance costing 2500 together. My insurer for the polo wouldn’t insure me on it so I had to start over as I hadn’t finished the year. So far cant fault the civic at all

I can vouch for the C2 VTS, it’s power is a little useless as it’s all at the top end, but they sound amazing with a good 4-1 exhaust and will out handle 90% of the cars for the price with a set of good Koni or bilstein shocks. Not a fast car by any means even my Abarth 500 will gap it, but my Abarth handles like shit compared to my mates c2 we put koni str.t dampers and H&R springs on his, my Abarth comes with koni FSD shocks and eibach springs AND has larger anti roll bars. But the c2 still is 100% better. It’s safe to Chuck around and predictable, it has lift off oversteer but it’s controllable and isn’t prone to under steering. Get yourself a Loeb edition c2 vts and you’ll get thicker anti roll bars by 1mm, nice red colour and graphics and red seats. Great thing about the C2 is my mate has had his for a year now, it’s been thrashed on the limiter daily, jumped big jumps at 70mph, given a good pushing in the corners and now has a Kevlar clutch and oil cooler. The only thing we have had to replace is the front top hats and the front ball joints. It’s a quality car, the interior might be a bit shit but it’s strong and well built, change out the steering wheel for a Citroen c3 or c4 and it’ll make it perfect, 100% a solid car 🤌

Be aware the ULEZ totally snookers you for the majority of VAG (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat) 1.9TDI engines and it extends a lot more widely from 2021. Probably best to check diesels in general if you're doing much driving in London. Petrols of this era (2005 on) comply with Euro4 much easier generally than diesels do to Euro6.

i can say fabia vrs from personal experience is a solid choice. But I have no idea how you managed to get that insurance quote. One thing to look at is rust right behind the front wheels

Big fan of 5 of these cars...sorry JB, the vRS is still a diesel! I've only driven 1- the C2 VTS, although only been rallying in it so no idea what it's like on the road! I'd pick the Yaris or Swift though, if my commute was on b roads and not motorways I'd even be considering swapping out the GS for a new Swift...but it's not ☺
Forgot the question bit- VW have the widest variety of decent 1st cars, but Fiestas are still just the best car for nearly everyone (I've still never owned a Fiesta).

Haha I'm gunna have to disagree with you on this one, the vRS is my fav of the bunch! Having been in one, it boggles the mind how well it pulls, and I'm not a diesel fan by any means (i.e. if they had made a petrol version I would have been all over it!) - VW group generally would be my pick, but can't argue with a fiesta!

@@CarsWithJB The vRS is impressive enough, but revving the balls off a petrol engine can't be beaten!

I'm being tempted to purchase a fabia MK1 vrs seeing on on autotrader in black and really good condition with lower than average milage. Might be a good first car/project 😸😸
