I like to keep a box of those cheap diamond burrs on hand, they’re very handy for things like tidying up pierced work and rough stock removal, they’re quicker than using hand files. Also good for things like adjusting badly cut stones (I do a fair bit of work with boulder opal). The finish they leave isn’t the best and they can be a bit chattery but so long as you know their limitations they’re fine. They seem to last pretty well too, if I’m using them on stone I run them wet.

I'm glad a professional finally agrees with me about some of these cheaper burrs. Some you can't get away with but others are great.

hmmm, EU just has the same Chinese products, but 5-10 times more expensive... I guess the carefulness made people break them less easily, thus lasting longer.

China CAN do good stuff, but you don't know, before you get it, if you've found a good source, is what I have learned from others.

I know I'm not a patron, but I am really interested in finding a way to make collets with no collet block? It seems like there is no way around it but it also feels like the technique is just there in the ether waiting to be found.
