"Of his own volition," means that we said he was going to be fired, and he chose to resign. Interesting that this came so soon after, "Postgame, Whittingham said that he would 'look at everything really hard in the next 48 hours and make some tough decisions.'" (Joe Coles, Deseret News.)

@@edkiely2712 Did you just tell someone they "don't know this!"..."you aren't in the building..." only to add your own statement without having been in the building yourself? Are you naive enough to believe it happened exactly as Kyle Whittingham reported it to the media? Do you think the media is going to be privy to exact conversation details between Ludwig and Whittingham? We are speculating here. However, most offensive coordinators don't just step down on their own, in the middle of a season, when things are going well. It's clear that Utah couldn't continue with the same offensive plan each game and expect different results from what they were already getting. Utah is 108th in the country in points per game. We can't throw, we aren't dynamic in the run game, we can't score in the redzone (if we even get there at all). Our offense isn't and hasn't been working. Ludwig and Whittingham talked about it, and Ludwig decided to remove himself from the equation. Whittingham probably didn't try to talk him out of it. When alumni with deep pockets are mad...when fans buying tickets and merchandise are mad...when recruits (and probably current players) are questioning the program...you have to make changes. Ludwig knows this and took the soft way out. The other option was to refuse and then be fired in a game or two anyway. It's speculation, but it's far more likely to have happened that way instead of Ludwig randomly deciding midseason to leave because everything was hunky-dory (because it wasn't).

I don't buy the Jaylon Glover comment. Before the year started he stated that the battle for RB1 was clearly between Bernard and Glover and now suddenly Glover is on the practice squad. So Mitchell, Vincent, and Stanley are all above Glover? They've all had playing time, but Glover hasn't taken a single snap this year. Getting tired of the gaslighting.

If we can't beat Houston this year we're in real trouble. They've only scored 44 points in conference play and we've scored 58. And on defense Houston has given up 115 points and we've only given up 82. That puts us as the 3rd best defense in the conference. On offense we're 15th out of 16 teams so there's no confusion as to where the problem lies. I honestly don't know how the defensive players can keep busting their butts only be let down by the offense every week! They have to be frustrated as hell.

Both of these takes are insane to me. Kyle is a top 10 coach and has been for years. We have very poor quarterback play and the rest of the team is playing like they’re struggling to know where to place their confidence on the field, Isaac just can’t regulate the guys yet. As for “not winning a single Rose Bowl,” winning a Rose Bowl would have been the highest achievement in program history and would have been accomplished having run the gauntlet over multiple top 15 teams, which we did. How can he be blamed for not accomplishing once what we have never accomplished before?
