A little about me:
Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
He plays and teaches guitar on his RUclips channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.
#guitar #guitarunboxing #unboxing
The fact that he opened the box and it said right on it, "Open Other End" is pure Sean!
I noticed that afterwards haha
As a life long pianist who just picked up the guitar- your videos are making the learning process incredibly efficient for me. The way you relate simple patterns to structural theory is concise, useful and entertaining. Thanks
How’s the learning going?
Those semi hollow guitars have a distinct sound. I had a session musician sit in on the recording sessions for my last album - Chasing Ghosts in the Dark. he used a Gretsch on two tracks and really made the songs come to life. A great guitar at a great price!!! Thanks for the unboxing and the song!!!!
i bought the larger bodied one with the P90 pickups and its a gem, and after such a great experience with it i bought a solid body one also with the blacktron pickups,,LP shape but definatley not LP sound,,,such terrific guitars ,,,great song to bro,, great channel you have cheers from australia
I just bought a Gretsch Streamliner last week. I love the way it plays and sounds.
I had trouble finding a bass that fit me perfectly and sounded good. The Gretsch Junior Jet is that bass. Great fit, great balance, great sound, well built controls, stays in tune. Love it.
Yeah, a 2655 streamliner center block, love mine… light, and resonant even when used unplugged ❤
Nice to have someone demo a guitar with actual music and singing. Great voice.
Thanks for saying so!
Agree!!! This is music. A musician. Using it the way it’s meant to be used. Bonus is the Travis picking , which is “that great Gretsch sound” Chet sound.
I was just going to type a similar thing. It’s good seeing the guitar being used in more ways than just blues licks. Thank you!
I’ve had a Gretsch Streamliner G2622 since 2018. It’s been an excellent guitar with 0 issues. Very solid! Only thing I’ve done was change out pickups. Absolutely perfect budget guitar.
The only major thing
@@ricopedrajrs Nothing wrong with the pickups, I just wanted to put in some filtertrons. Still have the guitar and use it live and daily. No issues still.
Nice tune. Nice singing. good lyrics. Sweet guitar. Best utube I seen today. thanks!
Thanks so much!
The solo picking at the end sounds really fine.
I got one just like yours and plays GREAT. I have small hands but I can play her all day long. I was looking for a Country, Rockabilly Guitar. I found it. Love Your show. Keep up the good work.
Great looking and sounding guitar! Loved the song. Fabulous vocals too!!
holy cow Sean! this is the first video I've seen you sing in! :O Fantastic performance! It's really tempting to pick up that Gretsch, especially for under 5 bills! My wife just got me a Les Paul Modern for Christmas so I probably shouldn't even try. Thanks for your humor and great instructional videos :)
Just discovered your channel from your reaction vids. Amazing singing and music, and also love your vibe! Subbed
That was beautiful! Thanks! I really like the neck access on these models.
Glad to see you getting a Gretsch. Since this guitar is really similar to one of you D'Angelico guitars - can do a side-by-side tone /playability comparison in one of your Q&As? Also, totally did not expect such a warm sound from it.
Had a couple of low end Gretsch, 1 solid body, 1 semi-hollow.
They were good enough that a few years ago I bought a MIJ G6128T Jet Payers Ed. with DynaSonic pups in Sahara Mist color.
Took 6 months to finally get my hands on it because I won't buy what I can't play first.
It is a permanent keeper.
Upgrade to some real TV Jones and an Electromatic can sound like a Gretsch Pro model. The body construction is good enough to take it.
REALLY liked the tune at the end. I just steal songs......cant write for anything. Appreciate those who can write good music.
Thank you so much for saying so about the song!
great guitar! i have a 'full-size' Gretsch semi-hollow (they don't do smaller version in lefty) , love it! first thing I did was get proper chrome knobs and switch tip, though, it looks much better for that. And just put humbucker-size p90s on, and that works really well.
I’m up to 2 Gretsch’s, both Electromatics, a G5230T and a G5220. The former has a Bigsby so I had to install locking tuners and a roller bridge to get tuning stability. The latter is a hardtail but I still upgraded the tuners because the stock ones are terrible. Other than that, perfect fit and finish on both and they play wonderfully. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a Gretsch at all, but you might want to do a few upgrades unless you spring for their top of the line MIJ models.
I just saw a video on another channel that mentions you and the kind of man you are in real life. All I can say is my estimation of you has gone up 1000%. Way to be there for a friend. Count me as one of your biggest fans! And his cause he rocks!
Thanks for saying so! Dovy is the man.
I just bought one, two weeks ago. It’s great. Loved it from the moment I picked it up.
Congrats on the new guitar!
Sweet! I love the color! I like that its a little smaller!
I think the one I just got is wonderful. It has a buzz on the G string and it might need the intonation to be checked over but it plays wonderfully.
I have a Gretch Resonator and it’s great. My band’s lead player has a semi hollow 12 string Gretch from 1967. It’s a beautiful looking and sounding guitar. You should never have shown this guitar. Now I think I need one.
I have this G2655 in Gunmetal, but that Midnight Sapphire is a stunner!
Gorgeous looking - that colour! Recently bought a solid body Japanese made Gretsch - they have a sound all of their own, no doubt about that. Your song does it justice, or it does your song justice . . . whatever. 😃
Which one did you get?
@@Mike28625 You know, I'm honestly not quite sure! It's a 2018 MIJ and from what I can see on the website it's very similar to a G6128T Players Edition w Bigsby but mine is red and has thumbnail fret markers. The guarantee says (handwritten) G613 (or 5) 1T-PE (Players Edition, I presume). Original retail here in HK was USD 2.5 K but I got @ 50% because the new line of Chinese made models had arrived and this was sitting at the back of the shelf looking lonely. HK a good place for deals - high turnover! It's immaculate and groovy.
Hope you like it. I have a 2005 62 model 6122 and a 5422-12 string. I like them both.
I’ve heard those are amazing
@@seandaniel23 Yes, my Country "Gentleman" Classic was a lifelong dream (played by the lead guitarist of The Beatles) and my 12 string is almost as easy to play and weighs less and sounds great (to me) through a VOX amp of course !
Mine is in walnut, and they threw in a whammy bar. The neck is my favorite, not too skinny and not too fat. Comparable to a 339 (vs. 335), a go to for sure.
Nice one Sean, big hello from the UK
I bought the mahogany colored version of this guitar it's an absolute joy to play it ended up being one of my favorite guitars to gig....
Nice! Yeah it's amazing!
The best Gretsch guitars are being made right now, at all price points. I own 2 vintage ones which are fabulous, but any time I pick up a new one regardless of price or country of origin I wonder “why isn’t this the gold standard right now”? They’re still so so damned good. The cheap ones feel expensive. The modest ones feel vintage. The expensive ones feel premium.
And the vintage ones are reasonably priced compared to Gibson and fender.
Indeed iconic, but thankfully not an exclusive club. Incredible value
I bought my first Gretsch in July, a 2015 G5620T Electromatic Center Block with Bigsby. It was hanging in a PHX guitar shop for SEVEN years waiting for me. It's so good, and fun to play, but would be better in more skilled hands.
"Is it even a Gretsch if it's not semi-hollow?" Yes, Sean, it is. In fact, when I hear "Gretsch," I think full hollowbody with a Bigsby. Nothing better!
The best!
I got 2 hollow bodies in September and 1 was Gretch the guitar was beautiful now that you opened yours it looks just like yours the pickups got to go the neck feels a little cheap but I do like it it for the money but my other one is a D Angelico an it’s a DC Deluxe an I’m telling you they build great guitars an the pickups are made by Seymour Duncan an the guitar is built to please! I enjoyed your video an you have nice voice hope you enjoy both guitars 👍
Both incredible guitar manufacturers!
I justlove but love the sound of it
I got the G2420T last year. Full sized hollow body. It feels and plays great. Not my favorite pickups but I'll probably change them eventually.
Would love to try one of those
Good to hear some vocals from you.
I got my 1st guitar this week. I walked out with a gretsch. I'm excited to learn.
You're gonna love it!
I'm also a new/beginner guitar player. How has this guitar been for you ?
I wish I got a Gresch a long time ago! Also a Peerless (any model but espcially the Gigmaster or Tonemaster.) - well underrated in playability and construction.
I have a Gretsch 5435 and once I played it I was sold, in fact, any other guitar iv picked up, I compare it to my Gretsch, none of them measure up for me and I play rock on it for the record
Malcolm Young thought plenty highly of Gretsch solid body guitars, and he used them to create AC/DC.
…good enough for me!
But yeah, aside from their Basses, which I have and are very underrated, it’s the semi-hollow thing for sure.
….until you stumble onto a good copy of something they’ve made on and off over the years…the CORVETTE.
Really amazing and ACTUALLY unique guitar. Good ones are rare as hell.
This Streamliner is wonderful. And for that PRICE?? really sweet MUSICAL sound.
One of these is DEFINITELY going on my short list.
Thanks for the review!
😎👍👍
😊😊😊I have a gretsch streamliner left handed great sound
The Streamliner has been on my radar for a while as my designated Gretsch purchase. Now may be the time!
You won’t regret it .
I have several guitars and picked up the their acoustic/electric Rancher. Not bad.
Wow! what a guitar- you are one lucky man.
Got a G5421 Electromatc and bought it five or so years ago for €339 new!
Still got it.
Just add a Sire S3 hss 😅
That guitar you got is very nice, not just for the money. Not the best but at least a keeper.
Find someone better than this dork. He just uses a lot of needless terminology, and is desperate to seem cool. The best guitar is dependent on the player of that guitar; like any artist, it has more to do with the person playing and that person’s particular idiosyncrasies. I love every guitar I have ever played, for different reasons. I am a painter as well, and love specific brushes and my favorites have little to do with anything someone who claims to be an expert might say. Hell, I was a professor of fine arts for years, and I always told my students the same things. Trust your gut. Ignore people like this dweeb.
Thats Sweet Dude !!
Thanks! I’m lovin it!
What a deal for that sweet sound with so good looking ❤
😊your a cool guy I have a gretsch streamliner my guitar is left handed all my guitars are left I have nine all budget guitars I have two daughters and four grand kids I been singing and playing over 50 years I can repair them also
Awesome song, Sean
I have 2627 and a 5622 with TVjones pickups both have bigsbys can't decide which I love more incredible guitars for the price
Love the guitar and the song :)
Some Gretsch s are high end with a medium price love the brand
I wonder if this will be me on Christmas morning🤞
I don’t know about the new Grestch’s, but I’ve had my ‘67 CA Tennessean for 56 years now and wouldn’t trade it for the world ! 👍🙋♂️🖖🏻
Nice one, got a 5421 myself.
😊there great guitars my gretsch streamliner is my favorite
HAY SEAN ! Me Too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine is a Gretsch Stream Liner, hollow body ! Ol West
I have four gretsh guitars, two semi and two chambered bodies. One each for the bedroom and the basement.
Streamliners are good for the price, nicely made and a Gretsch, what more can you ask for?? Another one.
Do you feel this guitar would be a good guitar for a beginner/new player ? Thanks!
Who doesn't love the sound coming from a hollow body guitar?!!?
Sweet (guitar) Water!!!
Ayyyy!
total sweetness!!! Oh, and did I spy and Emerald Ryders logo? Tryin hard not to Ryde?
More accurately trying hard not to buy a new kick drum resonant head
its a jazzer Man!!!!!!!!! if you got a vox amp and a suit you could be a brittish boy band!
Cool it is but the oversized fret markers spoil it for me. The 1st fret fretboard wood has been almost completely eaten by that block.
Sean, Good morning. Whats your take between the Gretsch 2655 and the D'Angelico DC Mini, at twice the price? jeff
What a treat...
Nice thing about Sweet Waters they offer a lot of credit too they're pretty damn generous.
You make your first payment of a guitar on time they pretty much know you're a good paying customer especially unless you got like $3,500 lying around for a jumbo Gibson J LOL
Have fun with it you'll enjoy it I couldn't quite tell though is that one of the electro madics or is that a full-blown gretsch jet?
Right off the bat here Sean...you are definitely cooler than you actually are! oooh a Gretsch!!
Beautiful guitar, so...
How much was it?
I may be mistaken but I believe the bridge is called a Cadillac bridge, Cadillac fender bridge.
Beautiful song man 😢 where can I find it
I haven't officially recorded it yet but I'll try to soon!
Nice guitar, but you make any guitar sound great! Love the song.
You should sing more often Sean. Great 🙂
What do you do with all these guitars? It seems like Company's have sent you dozens of guitar's adding up to in the five figures somewhere...that martin d35 is like 4 grand alone...I'm a bit jelly..🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
hey! I have the same guitar but with the wammy bar.
slightly diff fret markers and mine is sea foam.
Is that a guitar or a mattress?
Um, what model is it?
Do some more video like this you singing and playing simple finger picking.
Going to buy that same one as soon as I can. Been wanting a Gretsch for a while!
You’re gonna love it!
Had a look and can't see, what's the song called? It sounds great!
Refreshing that someone bought something to ,.. 🥃🥃
You should sing and play more often ... great song
I want to see you play Stairway on it, that’d be sick bruh
There should be a place in hell for whoever invented unboxing.
Amazing video, as usual! Quick question, as I'm having trouble determining which color this is. Is this the gunmetal or the midnight sapphire color? Thanks in advance for all your help.
Compare it to the Epiphone 335 and others in the same price and type category. What is the neck like?
I find myself playing in the neck position on all my Gretsch guitars
How about YOU... * Why don't you. change peddles forever? I did... in my room. * What I mean to say is: 'Make the peddles; like old school "game cartilages"'... And make the peddles like game stations. * * So you have your "fuzz",' chores', and your "phazer", in a cartilages. And you plug them in. Or trade out different ones. "game cartages"/ game station type peddles works!
Get your friends in the music biz to think of the future ... [What do you think?]
How does it compare with your D'Angelico ?
Any head dive on this Sean?
Get a Good. Godin Summit Classic HT's are sweet
Good job at showing the guitar... Looking at 1 on ebay... But every video i see on this guitar everyone is playing mellow gold stuff... Anyone got a video with this guitar and playing some ted Nugent..i would like to see what she can do
Blessings
😍
I love gretch
Now a Bigsby. Killer.
Nice lyrics Sean.
The use of the word “gigbag” ain’t doing you any favors either.
