I'm from Kentucky and this spoke to the bluegrass soul I didn't know I had. There's an old general store they play at down the street and Ima bring this knowledge there. Thanks.
Good video! Newer, older guitar player here, but an accomplished trumpet player, so reading music and playing scales and having those experiences is making me learn more about scales per string and literally like you were doing finding the open string note on a different string when I’m playing a scale or when I’m playing a lick which I commonly seem to gravitate towards my A string, and then I’ll go to my E string to gain some depth to my scale or little riff, when I get to the lower notes, and yes, Billy strings has been my favorite guy the past couple years, Tommy Emmanuel was my first guitar picking hero, and then I seen him, and Billy Strings playing together, and it was obvious to me, these are my favorite guitar players, next to my icon of Johnny Cash. I was able to go to the Johnny Cash Museum last summer, and it was just so inspiring and motivating, especially being of the older crowd learning guitar later in life, but thankfully, I have the music background from my trumpet playing days. Guitar is at a whole other level, literally like learning a whole new language, I seem to gravitate to the string playing versus chord playing, so picking is my go to with my playing on the fretboard and guitar, so your video was definitely inspiring 🎸 🎼
Well-done. You two played-off each other quite well. A fun collaboration I didn’t expect. You two should look at an annual collab video centered on fun and music and a bit of humor.
Wildwood Flower Carter Style is traditional bluegrass played off C scale . It has an unusual form. The 1st 2nd and 4th measure of the progression are 5 measures long instead of the of the usual 4 measures . I mentioned this to you in the past ! Check the tune out Sean .
You guys have great chemistry. Perfect bite sized lesson for 10 minutes.
Thank you!!
