THIS IS HOW ALL CAMERA VIDEO SHOULD BE MADE. Literally 5 seconds in and I can see the difference myself, instead of wasting 20 minutes for a review that shows quick jump cuts. Subbed!
This video has massively helped my decision and today I just bought it as my first ever lens for my a6400. Thank you so much. The low light test is probably the most honest, true and best one I’ve seen in all my searches on RUclips so thank you very much for that I really appreciate it. Great content! 🎉
Hey thanks for watching and letting me know! Have you received the lens yet and have a chance to play with it? Now that I've since upgraded my camera/lenses, thinking back that combo of the a6400 / 16mm really is DAM good for the price. I hope you have fun playing around and enjoying that combo. I sure did! Appreciate your support 👊
Awesome! 👊 Glad you found the video. It was eye-opening for me when I got this lens and really started to understand the different a couple stops of light truly makes.
Absolutely drastic difference between 3.5 and 1.4. This is the video that I've been looking for to justify buying the Sigma 1.4. It's crazy that the ISO is at 100 in that last clip. Thank you for showing it so clearly.
Very true about telling the difference on low light, but I love the smaller size of the kit. And to my eyes, it almost looks better the rest of the time except if someone wants nice bokah.
Wow up until the low light I was shocked that I actually preferred the kit lens. The biggest difference was the bokeh. Maybe kit lens is not as bad as I thought
I also did a video on my channel where I compare the kit lens to others... I think a lot of people (including myself) rush to get other "better" lenses because we are sort of told to. I think the kit lens is just fine until you know exactly the style you want. Check out that other video if you are curious: ruclips.net/video/Awty-_HqAGc/видео.html
@@Pjetrinskij I have not. What lens are you using? Are you using just wide af mode? Have you tinkered with the metering or any other settings? That sounds frustrating!
@@thesahdstudio not sure mate, I use the kit lens indoor with low light, and I see that the camera is making the light pulsing due to the autofocus. Is that suppose to happen? 🐣
@@Pjetrinskij Tough to say what's going on without know all the settings you know? Sounds frustrating. If I were you I'd tinker with the settings (changing ISO, autofocus modes etc), I'd also see if it happens at all focal lengths as maybe it's just a matter of the camera not getting enough light. There's nothing more frustrating than when your gear doesn't work!
Wow. Kit lens is underestimated.... Kit lens Low light performance is poor but it's ok for me. Since I don't have enough money to buy sigma16mm I'm gonna use kit lens with lights.
Oh yeah! The kit lens is totally fine, especially if you're near a window or have enough natural daylight coming in. The kit lens is absolutely fine to start with! 👊
Such a nice short and fully understandable video! thank you sir! I am planning to get my first camera for BOTH video and photos... this whole process of deciding which brand to go for, what lenses to get etc had made me so anxious. What would you suggest for up to 1000 euro budget? Also a quick question, at the end, why didn't you change the F stop so that both are at the same (F3.5, sorry I might be a little clueless)?
Thanks for watching in the positive vibes. To be honest I bought that lens for bokeh and only ever use it at f 1.4. it was one of my earlier videos so I just wanted it to be quick and didn't really think too much about making a full comparison video. I believe I compared prime to kit lenses in different videos.
@@SebsDuran it really is. I completely changed my setup since then and honestly the amount of difference it is... Probably 15-20%?! Not huge for the extra thousand or so dollars lol. Sony is just great though.
Low light performance is insane also it becomes really easy to shoot in whatever light conditions we are in. The only issue with this sigma 16mm is the size (Little bit bigger)
That little lens spoiled me for future lenses! Once you get used to that wife aperture it's hard to use anything else lol. And yeah, the size is a bit big, especially on smaller aps-c bodies but it's still not that bad compared to full-frame stuff.
Hi, Can I get your opinion quick? The 18-50mm lens, 16mm lens and 30mm lens. Talking head videos/ vlogging. Which 2 lens can I keep? I just realised I passed my budget and the 16mm is no longer returnable. What do you think?
Heyo! Ok keep the 16mm for sure. Is the 30mm the Sigma? Personally I would probably rather have the two prime lenses for video as I just find they look much nicer. But with that being said it depends on what kind of video you shoot... having a bit of reach with the 50mm on the zoom is nice however MOST of the time you can just move back and forth to get the shot with a prime so... those would be the two I keep. Now with THAT being said, I had the 16mm and 30mm and ended up selling the 30mm also since EVERYTHING I do on my channel I'm able to do with the 16mm. Hope that helps!
I believe my white balance was usually set around 5500k for that setup. Although to be honest, it has been awhile. Thanks for watching and for the support my friend! Appreciate it 👊
@@miksvillamor sweet! It's a good value light for sure. I think my next one will be bi-colour just to have a little bit more flexibility but you can do that in post anyway. What size softbox will you get? Let me know what you think!
Any settings in particular you are wondering about? I keep the ISO as low as possible. Usually double the shutter speed of the frame rate and open as wide as possible. For these I doubt I was even using any picture profiles then lightly tweaking the colours/exposure in post. No luts here but I'm not against it. In fact I made a video lately talking about how easy and awesome custom luts are!
I know right? I just sold my a6400 with that lens and was sad. I just picked up the 35mm f1.8 and, while it's cool, it's not the Best lens I've ever owned. I haven't really had time to test it out that much so we'll see...
It's been awhile since I've had this setup so I don't remember exactly... It would have been 30 fps, 1/60 shutter speed, custom white balance... standard picture profile, I also would have had the lenses open as wide as possible, so with the Sigma f1.4. Hope that helps!
@@thesahdstudio I got the sony zv e 10! been really unhappy with its kit lense low light performance tho so i copped a new sigma 16mm coming in a few days 😂

I just bought a a6000 and I'm aiming for low light photography and it's borderline unreal to do with kit lens which I have so far ;)) but well a challenge hones your skills :) with time I will buy a proper lower aperture lens
Do you mean with the kit lens or the Sigma? I'm sure either would be fine but with the Sigma lens you get more pictures that look like they are out of a magazine because of the beautiful bokeh. The flash is nice if you know how to use it!

Some clever video editing can go a long way too you know? Not sure what you are using, but Davinci Resolve has things like magic masks and all sorts of ways you could blurry up the background if you so choose. It really depends on the look you are going for right? The Sigma really offers that 3d POP that a lot of RUclipsrs want... and it obviously pulls in a lot more light. Tough call arranging your priorities lighting / lenses / mic, etc... as it totally depends what you are trying to do. My advice is check marketplace for used lenses and try and get a wicked deal.
