That's a tough question... I chose DaVinci because I can use it on Windows or Mac and it seems a little more future proof. I think FinalCut is more optimized so it will run smoother and has better/easier tools to make newbies look professional. If you have a Mac and are just starting out I'd probably say FCP.

Glad you found the channel! Yeah it's tough trying to find the right setup sometimes... I do have Xbox/Nintendo, but it's just not the same gaming on those as it is a PC. I really did like the Mac stuff but just didn't want to truly invest with them. I agree about the peripherals but was a little surprised you through headphones in there. I don't know if I've met an Apple person who didn't swear by the headphones too!

@@thesahdstudio personally i work with boses and am thinking of trying out the top of the line sonys with active noise cancelling next. as an editor i need to be able to have a cabled connection to avoid any latency with sound. Apple headphones don't exactly fit my need profile but I am sure they are nice. One more thing I wanted to mention for flexibility - best thing i got for my macbook pro workstation is a dock that handles all the connectied peripherals. so its super easy do disconnect (just one cabled connection) and go into laptop/couch mode 🙂

RIght?! I mean it's great fun playing around with s-log in these huge files but, unless you are making a film or content that is specialized it's just not worth the effort for most people, especially just for making RUclips videos. Nice camera though! You love it?

I believe if you go back into fusion you can just refresh the clip? But honestly it's been a while since I've played around with this feature so I'd have to check. If I get the chance to do it tomorrow I'll let you know 👊

You know I did play around with final cut and it worked great. I have switched back to Windows though so my Goal to edit efficiently and resolve still my priority.

Glad you found the videos!! I have a high end PC now and I miss my M3 Max MacBook Pro lol... But honestly it wasn't perfect either. There are things that you can do to make the process easier... Even now with my sick setup I make proxies for everything. So if you aren't doing that now that's probably the easiest bet as DaVinci makes it really easy. I even made a video on how to do that if you haven't seen it yet.

Nice! Let me know how it goes for you! One little tip, one you find the ring that fits your lens, put a tiny piece of electricians tape on the outer shell so it doesn't slide to the left or right once you put your phone on there. Hope that makes sense. I use it every video and still love it!

Yeah I hear you... and I agree. I think some channels really benefit from higher quality BUT the point remains that the idea/concept for each video needs to be thoughtful and to answer the viewers problem/curiosity.

Well this is my smaller channel. But regardless... What computer do you think people of this size of channel should have?

Thanks for the comment! To be honest I don't remember but I'm assuming that was the case. It's a very dark room and I mean if you notice the background if I would have done a side-by-side it is more bokehy... It's definitely better overall but yeah it's not as radically different as going to like an f 1.4 or something... Which costs a ton more. It's a great size and great value lens that's better than the kit lens but doesn't always look better in every situation.

I know some people like zoom lenses but I just love how wide open prime lenses are and how good they look it's hard to use anything else! What's your main lens?

@@thesahdstudio I have same Sony 24mm GM lens, I used to have 20 mm G Lens, but finally I’ve sold it and bought 24mm. And to be honest this is my favorite lens ever. For portrait I have Sony 55mm 1.8, but 24mm I use much more often ) may be I would keep 20mm or tamron 17-28 just for vlogging

@svoropaev Nice! I have the Tamron 17-28. Honestly I thought I would use it more than I have. It is nice to go wide but if I had to pick one I would probably choose the Sony 20 mm. But maybe the grass is just always greener on the other side??😆

@@svoropaev Oop, sorry I didn't respond to this! Didn't see it. Honestly I'd probably just take the Sony 20mm... but if I had that, I don't even know if I'd need the 24mm. It sure is case by case when deciding on what gear to get. I think zoom lens are great for when you are BEHIND the camera, but if you are a one man band and are always in front of the camera, you really won't be using the zoom much and should focus on picture quality where the primes always win (in my opinion).

It looks great! I did a lot of testing when I first got it but now that I've had it for a while and I've been really busy with the kids back in school It's mostly just getting used as a regular monitor and it's fantastic Zero complaints!

Hello there! Thanks for comment. And yeah I know what you're going through. Honestly, the Max chips rip through video footage so well, it's such a treat. It's hard to go down to the Pro chip after you have experienced editing with those media engines. I would probably rather have the M3 Max than a M4 Pro personally. But it depends on you... the type of codecs you work with... how long you plan on keeping the computer...etc. I'm not sure what you spent on the M3 Max, if you bought it on sale etc... you might look to buying it 2nd hand with Applecare as I'm sure people will be upgrading to the latest thing OR just buy the M4 Max when it comes out. Then you'll be set for quite awhile and the sting of the payment will lessen after a year or so lol. Maybe what you should do though is return your Max and get the M4 Pro. You seem to be entertaining that idea and hey, it might be enough for you. Because of the footage I get from my Sony, I needed a Max chip, but it could be different for you. I hope you are able to make a decision you feel good about! I mean heck, do what I did and get a M1 Max... it'll still rip for you and save you big bucks.

@@FrederikStendahl The m3 max chip is incredible. I am jealous. Enjoy it. Sure the m4 will be SLIGHTLY better, but will you actually notice those differences in your day to day usage? I can pretty much guarantee you won't. Like I said, the m1 max is still a beast to this day and the m3 max is quite a big better. I would have loved to keep it myself but the price when it first came out was just too much for me especially since I'm not in the ecosystem. Keep me posted with how it works for you!

@@thesahdstudio true story, I will probably not notice the difference in the end. So far it’s smooth and lovely in 16 inch. I just still can’t believe I paid so much for a laptop, I never understood people who did that, as I always have been a pc guy. But I have the portability and to be honest, it doesn’t bother me to edit on a 16 inch laptop. It’s VERY expensive, so I understand your choice. But personally, I’m a guy to loves to get the new things on the market, because I’m afraid of missing out, and regret, which is stupid. Happy to hear that the m1 works out for you needs 😄

Thanks! Ok there's two ways... #1 is through the camera. Since I have such a slick lens I set it at f1.4 and get that look naturally. #2 is through the software. In Photoshop it's easy to select the object you want, duplicate it, then add gaussian blur to the background image. Easy peasy!

...it's fantastic! :) I loved it. Was it overkill? Definitely. Would I do it again? I would! I got my Beam second hand and a great price. I'm not sure it's worth the full sticker price though. On my other channel I reviewed the Pebble speakers, and while they weren't great, I compared them to some Edifier speakers I recently bought (refurbed) and for the price those are the best bang for your buck. The ones I bought were the MR4's fyi.

Wow really?! I can't vouche for Premiere but Final Cut and Resolve work well with just the Pro. What footage are you working with? Perhaps there's a codec issue.

Thanks! I'm sure it's not the perfect test but I did the best with the gear I had. I ended up selling the Canon camera as it wasn't great for video but I've always missed that camera. I'd love to play around more with Canon. They're just nice to use!
