nice tcec and unity:)
Yo, Montu, I would love to see you show off the meta build using a longer video. It would be quite interesting!
Glad Stellaris is as well balanced as always
Perfectly Balanced, with absolutely zero flaws, as a certain someone might say.
@@xanithdegroot5407suddenly I have a craving for tea. Yorkshire gold maybe?
Why do I feel like cursing someone named Todd right now? 🤔
I don't drink much tea but I could use some
To be fair, I don't think it could be balanced without killing much of the fun.
I think fleets and resources need scaled down to make each more impactful. I also support efforts to improve balance, but some degree of imbalance makes the universe feel more real for lack of a better word.
Paradox dev: "they figured out another exploit, sir."
*Paradox CEO slamming his head on a wall: "fuck it, lets just make Stellaris 2"
I wish they would. Maybe then we could get a game that doesn't perform like a one-legged octogenarian in the late game. XD
Stellaris 2 when?
@@zafraz10771st, they need to finish eu5. maybe after. though, i've heard they are developing another game along side eu5 already so...who knows when...
Come off it! New features being OP is a deliberate feature to encourage sales.
@@schroecat1well I play on huge galaxy and choosing a few non-default settings plus the performance improvements eliminates the serious lag I used to see.
Every single time I tell myself "Hey, why not give those Xenophiles a fair shot finally?" and then something like this happens. Again.
Nah is still boring, thecworst part of stellaris is a war and fan pacyfism is funnto play bcs you cant just easy take over galaxsy and you need think how do stuff to they attack you ect
Xenophobia was already the only morally acceptable path, so why disguise it?
@@bizmasterTheSlav nah is not that good like biger therytory you have that slower is your tech progress traditions ect and as xenofob you based only on your pops or instand slaves wars. For reson xeno pacyfist have alywas bigest fleets and production, they not need send 90% of resorces into hold own therytory, fast multi game is the place for xenofobia but long multi and singiel is better for xenophila
@@Darlf_Sevil I don't care about pure effectiveness, though. I am not a minmaxer, i am a roleyplayer. I kill and enslave xenos just because i enjoy roleplaying as humans.
@@bizmasterTheSlav so why you talk like abaut optymalization not proleplay, alos wtf is wrong abaut paradoxs game player that 99% wana purge evrything. Im litle bit scard abaut it
You can lend fleets to vassals right? No need to dismantle your fleets to bring you down below a rival, and your vassal can be invited to the war....
That could cause issues with vassal relations, but it could work!
@@MontuPlays my other thought was selling them to the salvager Enclave to at least get the resources refunded
Do mercenary enclaves count as your fleet power?
@@animewarrior3 Oh I didn't think of that one, good question.
@@MediumRareOpinions When you set them up, no. When you hire them, yes. So you can hire the fleet, win a war, disband the fleet, rinse and repeat.
That 20% instead of 2% is way too big of a bug for me to want to use this.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to butting heads with the galaxy, after the tradition works more correctly.
It is worth mentioning, you can rival Fallen Empires to always have the full benefits from "Match"
It's also worth mentioning that this could be bad for your health
untill they declare war on you that is
Actually they don't seem to do this, atleast not early game (although I haven't tested vs. Military Isolationist). When they do attack it is to humiliate, which isn't nice, but since you are not running Supremacy but Antagonism you don't lose your diplomatic stance and you can rival them right away after the war ends.@@lifeking1259
@@Jernsaxe I suppose though I recall that when I surrendered a war against the isolationists that they assasinated my ruler, might just be console thing though
@@Jernsaxe If they humiliate you, you get a massive influence income penalty, removing a large part of the bonus this tree gives you though.
I like the flavor of Enmity when youre playing Broken Shackles or Payback. Makes perfect sense to rival MSI.
Makes sense to have if you have a Determined Exterminator or Fanatic Purifier neighbor as well.
@@atoth62 exterminators can´t be rivals no?
@@tunencio7288 You can probably rival exterminators, just that they can't rival you. Honestly, its not something I've tried, so can't say for sure.
You can absolutely rival them.
I love enmity so much. I wasn’t expecting it to be one of my favorite features of the patch but after playing a game with it, I absolutely love it, both gameplay-wise and flavor-wise. definitely
going to build an empire around it once the research bug gets fixed and the unity is rebalanced!
The unity probably won't be rebalanced too much. As it scales poorly, relative to other bonuses.
It's similar to the +3 per embassy that Diplomacy gets with stricter restrictions. Good early game, poor scaling.
Though unless you want an early Federation, Diplomacy is meh.
@TrueWolves any trade focused build should have diplomacy as 3rd at the latest tbh.
@@animewarrior3 because you want an early federation for a trade build.
I was doing this with Barbaric Despoilers to also abduct pops during the wars, switch between humiliate and raid wars, and use the mercenary enclave capacity to manipulate my fleet power for rivalries. It's pretty strong.
Personally I dislike that they made the rivalry tradition all about taking on the whole galaxy rather than having one specific foe, and I would have liked to maybe see a benefit instead to the effect rivalry has on improving your relations with your rival's enemies and an encouragement to maintain both rivalries and defensive pacts.
Wouldn't that be cool? They could make a whole DLC about long lasting rivalries. Arch rivalries. No, we need a stronger word. Nemesis. Yes, that sounds cool. They could even name the DLC like that. Stellaris: Nemesis. Rolls of right of the tongue, doesn't it?
This version of the Enmity tree with favouring many rivals really is more something for the Nemesis expansion, while a version of focusing on ONE, but much stronger rivalry would fit better with the humanoids species pack imo.
If violence isn't a solution, you're not using enough of it.
*Enmity ensures that you always have ways to use more violence. A lot more*
Slap this bad boy onto the teachers of the feudal shroud build. My gosh that would be a disgusting amount of tech/unity
I'd love to see a maxing-out sublight speed build, getting navies as fast as possible through traits and other stuff like that! Great video anyways, keep up the good work!
You forgot to say that rivals can actually be invited to join a war against you without beeing allied so having many rivals it also has some kind of risk
And after half of mid game good players have no one to di it except falens
@@Darlf_Sevil Does that really matter though? Since at that point you've basically won already.
@@lanttu10 bcs is boring alos end game crisis
Through hatred all things are possible.
Cries in driven assimilator not getting rivals :(
“You are a driven assimilator. You assimilate.” FUCK THAT I WANNA ANNOY THIS GUY
Only if I had a chance to have rivals... A small price to pay for 70 mods...
I like combining "Heroic Past" civic with my first tradition point into aptitude. Getting 3 starting traits early is very nice becuase i can pick good leaders early.
I absolutely love emnity. I think it perfectly encapsulates xenophobia and adds flavour to it in the way that its truly about whipping your popularion into a frenzy to defeat external enemies, real or imagined
After watching this I started a new game
Took expansion as my first then took emnity as my second tradition
It's year 2364 and I have almost made everyone vassals as they either come to me asking to be my vassal after I make them a rival or they agree to it when I ask them too after I make them a rival😅
While I can get a huge buff by humiliation war I think making everyone my vassal before mid game starts is rather busted
2300 is mid year 2400 is end game year I am playing grand admiral but on late AI buffs as I haven't played a lot for the last couple years
It's pretty obvious that both the increased research/unity and antagonistic stance will be nerfed into the ground.
Uniti im not supre, diplomacy have alos u ity stuff and is 3 per empires who wana have some contact and most base game is 18 empires on 800 stars
beside the bug with the +20% instead of a +2% research bonus with "Reaffirmed Superiority",
I feel like the bonus shouldn't be for all rivals we have when winning the war but instead only for every rival we were actually at war... óÒ
I would say that would make a bit more sense. In that case, the percent bonus could also remain a bit higher in my opinion!
Best tradition is the friends we make along the way
SOMEHOW a megacorp in my solo game has managed to get FORTY planets to my 15 at like 100 years in and has overwhelming fleet and science. I WILL take them down. But this... this is the PERFECT tradition to help me with this. Excellently timed video.
I think a full on Rivalry empire with Payback and the new Nationalistic Zeal would be fun to try
Maybe Pompous Purists as well for more resolution blocking
Second strike was the first thing that stood out to me. That definitely feels cheesy right?
Just prepare the agenda beforehand so that immediately peacing after a war conquering territory from a rival, just add more claims, enact agenda, and immediately another declare war right after back to back.
I can understand a shortened truce (like half), but back to back doesn't sound fun.
Suddenly ”I have no enemies” is a bad thing to happen to you
Paradox only has two kinds of updates: ones that don't matter, and ones that break the meta until they inevitably get nerfed in the next update.
I have a feeling that this guide won't age well.
That is the first one, that perk iscgood but nor op. Bcs of it you will all time fight and probady your action create a federation aginst you in singiel and multi, or you have to much usful ally aroud you grow fast and in mid game is be hard to find any rivals . Is optional op and most time just ok tradition.. like most of them
Well, aside from the bug, this tradition boosts influence, leader capacity and unity which are really hard to come by early game, and gives small bonuses and an edict for the late game, so overall pretty balanced since this tradition helps you start off strong but becomes irrelevant by the 2260s
@@maxpont8989 alos give chance to your action make a enemy federation
Crazy strat: Make an enemy federation and when you're too stronk for everyone, use your extra envoy to mend relations and join it.
With this update, payback is now my favorite origin. Free station hub, bonus to fighting superior enemies, and this tradition tree, it's pretty great.
Had an idea to expand on this, can you use Mercenaries to float a lesser fleet power only to hire them to win said wars?
That would work! You could un-hire the mercenaries just before you win the war to let you rival all the other empires again too!
@@MontuPlays Nice! Could you also tie in Slingshot to the Stars so you can rival and fight empires on the other side of the galaxy? Hard to lose wars when your opponent can't reach your borders.
Second strike could alternatively be used to humiliate a rival then break the truce and go in on them again to turn them into a vassal. Giving you the 10 year bonus and then a vassal.
I think the better thing to do for second strike is to 'weaken' your own fleet by turning one of your fleets into a mercenary enclave so you can rapidly switch between a massive and small navy depending what suits you at the time
"actively oppose that like button?" But I don't want to dislike this video D:
I said oppose damn it! Actively!
I feel like "Actively oppose that like button" might have the opposite effect of what was intended lol
At this point you should take the existential iteroparity as you are constantly at war, end it for another buff and rebelote.
Sounds op to me
instead of outright dismantling fleets to bring your own naval power down, try saving a completely empty template (no weapons, no utilities, no armour/shields, lowest level of power reactor and jump drive, etc) of each ship type and retrofitting some/all of your main fleet back to that state.
If you have a federation or custodian/imperial navy you can just use those as your 'first response' fleets, or you can save half of your own fleet for that first response capability and 'mothball' the rest. Its much quicker and cheaper to do it this way rather than outright wasting the resources and time building those new ships all over again, and while they're 'mothballed' you pay next to no upkeep to keep them around waiting. upgrading them back to fighting shape is also much quicker and cheaper than building new ones.
this is also the quickest way to get your first merc enclave up and running, by just building 50 completely empty corvettes for less than/not much more than 3k alloys, starting the enclave (2k alloys, some energy, and influence i think?) and then sharing your tech with them and paying them to 'build up' (you get 1000 energy back per time you share tech, and the first 'upgrades' are soooo cheap. i think you can upgrade them 3 or 4 times before its equivalent to the cost of getting them started). if you have the influence to keep them from being used against you/resources to keep them constantly hired, its actually cheaper to feed them all your alloys and energy to get them to their max upgrade level ASAP because their fleet size and power is so much stronger than anything equivalent that you or an enemy could build for even 100 years.
add on the ability to build up to 7 of these enclaves (megacorps have 3 civics that can add up to +4, ascension perk +1, senate votes +2), the civics you dont have to keep forever, and can reform out of once you've built them (merc enclaves stay once built, they dont just get destroyed when you have no 'capacity', it's mercenary enclave capacity to 'build', not mercenary enclave 'available capacity to concurrently hire'), and the senate votes can be repealed to get back your lost naval capacity and ditch the war restrictions, you can basically have an infinitely 'rotatable', on demand navy and keep your entire personal fleet mothballed. and they pay you periodically.
other empires will find it tough to actually take your 'fleet power' from you because (in a perfect galaxy..) you're never using YOUR actual fleets. you can also use this to quietly rig the galactic senate, hiring mercs before votes finish and terminating the contract immediately after you get your outcome.. if you have excess energy to waste then this is easier and often cheaper than extorting favours from empires with other resources/envoys, spending influence to steal their vote power, moving envoys around, etc. you can do all that as well, but enclaves should always be the first way you try to increase your diplo weight
if you're super quick to get the community started, you can easily get on top of the first 'council', then force through the galactic custodian vote before year 50. the game is already yours at that point, just force through the votes to keep you ahead like gdf fleet and removing custodian term limit. if you have no federation by this point, you can force though the imperium by year 60.
I tend to have an aggressive playstyle, especially when roleplaying as space Romans as I so often do. So my first tradition is always supremacy. However emnity has since become a fine addition to my collection of traditions. It will be great to take as a second tradition, then my third tradition could be prosperity or if I’m feeling quirky diplomacy. And then my fourth tradition could be some sort of ascension tradition.
That consummate contrarian got my attention! Sometimes another empire might purpose a resolution in the galactic assembly that you don't like or which could be a determent for you. Having the extra weight to oppose it could be really useful! 🤔👌👍🏼
Especially given that you also get another 30% weight for having 6 rivals. It's a very powerful effect.
"Pop growth by neighbouring Rival + 3" What kind of sense does that make?
This is my new auto-pick 🎉
I knew the new tradition was powerful but I didn't realize it was busted powerful 😅
Ah yes stellaris coding is top tier as always😂
About the coding
When ship designing my corvettes they show as
.x evade but when produced it shows normally
Also speed shows as 3000+ when designing but shows proper speed after being produced
I think that rivalry thing is good for gestalts in early\mid game, when there is no sense in conquering neighbors because you cant(yet) convert their pops to drones.
Vs AI vassals is better for sure.
Playing Space America... Grows faster when fighting someone
not even 5 minutes into the video, and this is genuinely the "I am not your enemy, I am THE enemy" tradition
Can you do a video on Council Mechanics? Could've sworn you or someone else did a Tierlist for Council Proposals, but it seems to not exist. Must be remembering an alternate timeline. ;)
Another S-tier video! Than ks
I forgot, but can't you rival FEs as soon as they are no longer overwhelming? In which case the Match trait is wonderful if you have the robot FE in your galaxy, as they will stay passive and it will be a long time until they are no longer technologically superior to you
Nvm, I should have waited until the explanation of the new diplomatic stance. So as long as the machine FE is in the galaxy, until the late game that trait will make your reseachers 15% cheaper and at least until the mid game your fleets cheaper and faster to build
The virgin AI opponent: you dare rival me reeeeee
The chad multiplayer opponent: let us agree to mutual rivalry for better bonuses
It took me more time to write the bug report in beta than they need to put three 0 in the file... I guess i wont bother next time.
Enmity is legit the schoolyard bully. They don't want to end folks. Cuz its how they get their money/kicks.
But for real, there are few things so unifying as a true threat to your life. And to a lesser extent, someone to hate and blame all your misfortune on.
every "new" DLC brings out imba/op stuff so it sells to the power creep players
That quiet wailing noise in the background is probably Pacifism crying how it has somehow become even less viable now.
How do you get rivals your size if you’re playing a rush build though?
Ranger only playthrough when?
It's on the cutting room floor right now!
Yoooo
Wish there was a tradition that added that extra 1 to the max naval cap
This can't won't be nerfed to heck and back. I bet that research and unity will be reduced to flat amount of research and unity, not a percentage, for example.
this tradition in a nutshell:
"violence is never the answer, it is the question
and the answer is YES"
Enmity is so much fun as a slaver build >:D
"You can use Enmity with *ANY* empire" - not with fanatical purifiers, you can't.
Could you do a tutorial on intermediate strategies? I have a lot of issues moving from the early game to midgame and figuring out how and when to properly make dedicated worlds (ie research worlds, unity worlds, and so on).
any planet that has bonuses to something and/or 8+ districts to something, dedicate it to that task asap. If the world has nothing special about it, dedicate it to tech if it only has a few total industrial districts, alloys if it has many. You can also use tech worlds/soon-to-be tech worlds to help pick up the slack where your economy is suffering (energy/food/minerals/etc.).
This should be good enough to get you by up to the endgame start.
Well, I wonder how long that'll take to hotfix out?
Ngl if all traditions were this good it'd be quite fun
Hilariously I think this update also broke gestalt AI, every game I play ends up with a machine or hivemind having uncontrolled pop growth that eventually ends up creating a revolt empire that has no name and has 1 non-gestalt ethic alongside gestalt. I hope this gets fixed….
so what your saying is
evasion destroyer meta is back
Everything perfectly balanced
What about when you cannot declare rivals or everyone can now?
I feel like highly aggressive Spiritualist empires are going to have FUN amounts of unity generation with Enmity.
The whole tradition gives of ww2 Germany vibes with the rivals being the USSR, UK and USA.
In multi it van work well but in singiel after mid game is a 2 empire in galaxsy who not like me and i can rival them so is erly tradition
Eh....even with the broken final pick, it depends on rivals.....that almost never happens to me......either i'm weaker....or stronger.....
This is so good for unity generation, which I find to be a major issue for most non-gestault/genocide empires.
Errr I mean influence, I understand why influence is in the game but it is a very annoying inhibitor
20%???? Nah Perfectly Balanced with no exploits what so ever.
So it's not that you're bullying Ep3o, you just declared him your Rival for the bonuses.
I couldve sworn its Emnity
Me too, but apparently we're all having a mass hallucination
@@MontuPlays it's the berenstein bears situation all over again! Berenstain just looks wrong!
Montu try not to play a hive mine challenge.
Better for early game than endgame, but I guess that's not so bad.
Perfectly balanced...
*As all things should be.*
Do stellaris devs consider testing anything they build or do they just release it first?
We need more official traditions. There are mods adding many great traditions. However, we console players don't have this option...
Does Pompous Purists synergize well with this? I can imagine a pretty nice RP build for something like that.
devs playing 5D chess with this 20%"bug" to make everyone try enmity 🤔😂
You cannot use Enmity with Inward Perfection.
man image a hive mind having this ability
... they do
@@MontuPlays ok that is just a little scary since they start out rivelys with all life
Bro can you do a op empire build for 3.9
Idk, having to constantly make sure that you don't eclipse your neighbors sounds really finicky and annoying to me. Enmity sounds good for PvP where your opponents are (hopefully) not dogshit at playing the game, but against the dumb as bricks AI I would rather pick a tradition that doesn't become obsolete 30-50 years into the game. And since I don't play PvP, well, I kind of doubt I'll ever use this once they fix the 20% bug. At the moment I could see some fun shenanigans with this in combination with an Eater of Worlds psionic rush build at least.
would this work with the every click video guide?
this is bonkers
Economy tradition still far far better, immpact evry empires on evry point of game and this one well if you be to good you end up have no one to rival xd alos rival 6 empire aroud you can end up making big federation and hardctime for you
I didn’t see this tradition option as a machine robot assimilator
Insane
I'm too much of a cheater. All of my neighbors are dead or pathetic.
It depends on map size and density.
I play on a potato that can only handle 2 empires and 200 stars, this isn't that useful :)
It's probably also rather useless in 1 v 1
wahoo
so basicly the covernant form halo aggainst the old humanity
Is the 2%/20% bug fixed yet?
quick use it before paradox exterminates the whole tradition instead
Damn Hunger! They ruined Hungerland!
Lol, become space North Korea 😂
a tradition for the low low price of $15.
i don't think Enmity is the best simply cuz i don't have access to it.( dont have the DLC it comes with xD )
