Welcome to the first gen gang....these bikes are very easy to work on..if you do the valves go stainless steel,I use kibble whites and haven't had to do any adjustments in over a year!
Needs a valve adjustment. Hard start when warm is one of the first symptoms of valves that are too tight. Loss of power as well. Get the valves adjusted and I bet she will start like a brand new bike again.

I paid $1500 for a 2005 back in 2010. Not sure why it was so cheap but they guy had a while ranch and I paid what he asked. Best bike ever.

Don’t give gas when kicking just flood it out that’s why it has a hard time starting
Id get suspension ohlins front rear valved for offroad.
