Was that Wanda Sykes as that robot? Alright...ngl i was assuming she wouldn't be a good fit for borderlands but I'm kinda curious now... I've got a soft spot for synthetic lifeforms
Have you had a look at Tales from the Borderlands? Its the same setting but written more like The Walking Dead, I found the humour hit 100% better there too.
I’m about 6-8 hours into the game and I’m having a good time. It’s dumb but it’s fun. The Borderlands humor gets really old really quickly so I agree with you there. But gunplay and loot is still really fun and rewarding in these games. Glad I decided to pick it up.
I don't understand why every is making a big deal about the multiclass system. I mean in borderlands 1 You had THREE skill trees. Not two. And in Borderlands 3 you have up to 5. So, yeah I bought this game, played it for an hour and sent it back.
In other words you sent it back before even unlocking the second class... Fact is, if you played for an hour you most likely did not even finish the damn tutorial. Yet you manage to have strong opinions on the game?, curious.
The new animations and graphic style for the reviews are great! Like having the score show up on top of visuals from the game gives the video more momentum and character
I'm not sure about that. From what i heard the DLC saved Borderlands 3. Plus the gunplay and loot is even better than in Borderlands 2. Maybe in the writing department it is like that but as a whole not really.
8 is very fair. Borderlands pushes its comedy down your throat way too hard, which is a shame because it does have legitimately good jokes, but they are always sandwiched between a few clunkers. Nice last line for the review
That’s a definite style. I don’t care for it and I think that a lot of people who prefer wit to a shotgun approach won’t be able to take the game. But a lot of people do like the rapid fire , “you don’t like that? Here’s another one.” Approach.
8/10 is a fair score; cause I do agree, Borderlands' wacky humor can be funny, but it does have a heavy tendency to be overbearing to the point of annoyance...
That will not apply to most reviews, certainly not any reviews that Brandon VOs. That's a new style that Ben is going to be experimenting with, in which the writer will be voicing their own reviews. In general, I try to keep out statements where "we" is even necessary, but sometimes you need to relay a personal anecdote for something that happened during your playthrough. -Bloodworth
Maybe this is just me, but the script for this really felt like it was just Ben talking to us. Allies reviews in the past leaned more towards a general professional tone, while this seemed like Ben's personality and manner of speaking was at the forefront... if Ben wants to voice his own reviews in the future, it would not be a bad thing! I liked it!
First, Im liking the new animations for the reviews. Feels fresh for EZA... Though just some constructive criticism. Sadly, I feel the Pink/Teal theme is very "retrowave" style, which was largely popular in 2017-2018, and many other outlets use that same type of theme. I dont mind it. But those two colors combined may make it hard to pick EZA out of a lineup, since they were very much the "style" for a few years. Again, i like it, i think it looks good in this review. But im just worried how "original" it is in the end. Second, Just my opinion here. But ive been WAY over borderlands since BL2... I played 1, and beat it two or three times?... it was "new" at the time, the humor, the gameplay... but they just repeat and repeat, game after game, nothing changes, and the humor is VERY tiresome and childish, i was ok with it when the series first came out since it was new and not many games had that humor or gameplay... but man... this many games later and it stills feels, sounds, looks, and is written just like BL1.... This series, is NOT for me. Really dont like when a company is a 1 trick pony that wont change.... though.... you could say "from software" does the same thing, which is true... but those games are good... lol
I feel like borderlands is just trying to hard to be funny now forcing humor onto u it’s what stopped me from completing bl3. I miss the old art style and gameplay
this is one of those reviews that makes me think of dunkey's game critics video. like after the 3 minute mark its relentless with how many flaws the game has. so im just like "damn they really didn't like this one" final score shows* "Wtf?"
A game for me could have 1 masterpiece thing and 145 flaws and it would still be a 8/10 for me. As long as the central gameplay loop is fun then it could have as many flaws as it wants.
Ben is way too tedious for my tastes. He seems like a very nice person. But everything about his opinions on games is excruciatingly tedious. And he seems obsessed with communicating every little nitpick precisely.
People like you don't understand how the review process works. They don't start at 10 and remove points per flaw. In regards to this video in particular, it sounds more like you focussed on the things you wanted to hear rather than what was actually said. Ben praised a bunch of things. I wasn't surprised by the score.
Love the new colors, animations are good but need more work to make them look professional if that's the goal. If not then they 're perfectly suitable!

Hey ash whatcha playin used to be hysterical. I don’t know if it still exists or not. And her acting is generally extremely good. It’s not her fault of the characters she’s playing aren’t any good.
@@JazGalaxy Hey ash watcha playing was my least enjoyed production hosted by GT. Borderlands writing has gotten far better since the departure of her brother Anthony though. And aloy's VO is considered one of the more bland and unlikable VO's of a main character. xD I just don't enjoy her stuff! I'll take Jennifer Hale's work over her any day of the week! Rivet is just a prime example of her flexibility.
Why is ashley Burch such a boring Aloy yet such a fun tiny tina. I wish tiny tina was the lead in Horizon zero dawn the gameplay is awesome just need a better lead character.
First of all, Ashly (not Ashley) Burch is doing what the voice directors tell her to do. Tiny Tina and Aloy are polar opposite characters and Ashly is voicing them the way she's told to. A character like Tiny Tina isn't going to work in many other games because she is ridiculously overwritten and spits out jokes constantly. It works for Borderlands, but it won't work for the vast majority of other games including Horizon. Secondly, Aloy isn't boring. She grew up an outcast who had virtually no interaction with anyone else but Rost. Now she's trying to save Earth because she's the only one who can, so that's why she's standoffish towards people. She has a lot of responsibility that she bears and doesn't want to put anyone in harms way. You may not like Aloy and that's fine, but there are legitimate reasons why she has the personality she does. I think it sets her apart compared to most video game protagonists.
I think with Aloy they basically stunted/reset her character growth (especially at the beginning) because a) a big theme of the game is learning to share the load and work with others so they made her more distant and aloof/robotic and b) they wanted to emphasize the contrast with Beta and give them an arc between themselves. It made more sense once they introduced Beta and there was some emotional satisfaction when they finally had their scene together at like the 3/4 point in the story. But yeah, until that point i agree it was a bit frustrating how wooden she was
Tiny Tina was invented by her Brother, I think, when he was writing Borderlands. So Tiny Tina is based on her personality and sense of humor. Alloy is a generic action-person. So she’s not really putting as much of herself into the role, I would imagine.
