- Hi everyone! With the recent update to Stardew Valley and its surge in popularity (also the fact that it's on sale for about $10.00 right now!) - I decided to film a beginner's tutorial for this wonderful game.

hey there! i know this comment was a while ago but if you didn’t already know, if you become close friends with the wizard on marnie’s farm (around 4-5 hearts) you can enter his basement and there’s an item you can interact with that can change your appearance and/or your gender for 500 gold (you can also change your pet’s appearance).

It's really hard to know what gifts to try unless you use the wiki!! But it can be more fun experimenting, lol!

@@TeaAddict It's coming along well! Working my way through Year 2 now. Unfortunately the one I play the most is on the Switch, but I'm debating starting a new farm on PC to play with the new patch!
@@MasterLuigi772 Ohhh nice, still a great effort :) I totally recommend getting it on PC as well while it's on sale, but that's probably just because I almost always prefer PC to console haha
@@MasterLuigi772 I recommend PC because of the Mods. There are so many cool Mods to add. From new NPCs and crops to my favorite, the UI info suite, which gives me a heads up if somebodys birthday is today and much more.
Is that normal? First game I played and I was really surprised that there wasn’t a tutorial that showed you how to do everything. Is that common practice in the video game world? It’s part of the fun figuring out how to play or some thing?

Just started playing and this was incredibly helpful! I tried to watch another tutorial but the youtuber kept giggling every time they mentioned hoeing and I couldn’t take it anymore. So glad I found your channel. I had no idea you could build a chest from the start of the game. Thanks!!!
**Face-palm** Very funny, other RUclipsr! lol. Yes, building the chest is probably the most helpful tip I can give a new player - you NEED it for the inventory space! Glad you found the channel too 😊
I would go as far as suggesting to try getting a chest day one or two. It's the most helpful thing in the start, I always leave my watering can and other tools I won't need in the chest on my farm. Taking only sword, pickaxe and hoe to the mines, and only the hoe always stays in my inventory.
I just picked up this game for my 7yr-old and I to play with. After watching about 6 other "Stardew Valley for beginners" from other youtubers this is by FAR the absolute best. We really like the way you explained everything and now we actually get it. Now, we'll also watch all of your following SDV videos. We thank you for this; awesome! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thank you. I have something like 10k hours in this game and my mom just started playing and I have no idea how to help her. It was very frustrating for both of us but the extreme level of detail you put into this video I think will be helpful. If nothing else is reminded me about the things I do just do instinctualy. Might want to mention that to use something you need to be pretty close to it (like the tv.) Mom kept picking up the TV from across the room and moving it or moving furniture while trying to use it

This is the best starting video I've seen all day.. I just bought the game and wanted to learn a little more about it. I did see someone sell all the parsnips and buy potatoes.. but idk, he was running mods while doing a beginner guide, just wanted to get your opinion on it.. oh and because of this wonderful guide I subbed and liked.. thank you for this!
I watched the same other video and because of the mods I went and watched this one too!
I believe he said in the comments that they were only visual mods. The reason behind getting the potatoes and selling the parsnips was just for the coin, the potatoes earn you much more cash which can be helpful from the get go. From what I’ve heard however there’s also an advantage to planting the parsnips, they grow in 4 days compared to the potatoes’ 6. If you sell the parsnips you’ll level farming 2 days earlier and will allow you to build scarecrows (keep those pesky crows off your crops)!!
@@SlideHulud thanks for the info.. I did plant the parsnips cuz it was only a 4 day turnaround. I'm in year 3 now lol and I still watch his videos if I have a question. I did take the first prismatic shard I got to the museum instead of taking it to the dessert 😓.. I'm working on the boat and the secret bundle now. I'm just taking my time, for awhile I concentrated on my friendship with the town. The game is a lot of fun.

It took me a few minutes just to locate inventory-menu screen when I first started playing, and I only found it because I was pressing each button one by one to see if they did anything. 😅

Haha, the grass will be helpful as animal feed later on in the game so you want to save a bit of it if you can! Otherwise you can always buy more from Pierre's!

Don’t give your character a name. Give it an a few item spawn codes instead. That way whenever anyone says your name, you get some valuable item or two.
This is soooo helpful thank you! I just downloaded the game on my Switch and I was so overwhelmed and didn't know what to do and how it works, that I kind of regretted buying it. But after this I feel like i'ts actually really fun. I think with these tips I'll start again and enjoy it :)

Very well done guide, why did I watch it? I've been playing Stardew Valley since before Multiplayer was included. I just clicked on your guide and it was so well explained that I got hooked and watched the whole video in case I missed something in my 300+h of Stardew xD.

this is so entertaining, the way you speak and play makes me want to watch & pay attention and not skip -watched the whole thing lol
Just remember in broadcasting like this, remember to take oxygen in through the nose, that way you aren’t swallowing into the mic when you run out of breath at the end of a sentence. This is a great video but she swallows into the mic at the end of most sentences. Sweet personality though :)

Just a note that you might want to add the information if you ever do another guide like this that much of what you talk about for the controls only applies to the computer version of Stardew Valley. I play on mobile and we don't have some of the menus that you showed and no option for command keys, etc. We also don't have 1.5 yet so no Beach Farm, etc. I know there are also different ways of doing things for those who play on one of the consoles.

I'm at my third year and I'm now so lazy that I don't even bother to plant anything before the egg festival (yes I am waiting for the strawberries)
It's kind of a chilling situation. Whatever I actually want are generally way too costy for my bank (like the return-home staff thing that costs 2 millions, and some other awesome stuffs that cost lots of iridium bars). I'm just chilling, decorating my farm and preparing gifts for more friendship hearts while casually stocking on resources and money to explore further into the game (haven't unlocked the islands yet)
The first two years on the very first playthrough could be a little bit stressful because I had to get familiar enough with the map and the NPCs to know where to find who or what and how not to spend a whole day running about the entire town to simply build a silo on my farm. Also I had to do the community center and do as much as I can to get four candles lightened up from grandpa's visit.
But after that it's just exploring the game on my own pace without having to rush anything.
It doesn't sync with real time time so I don't even feel pushed to play it everyday. Play it when I have some leisure and drop it when I don't. Perfect game for person like me.

I would like to ask, what are the ways i can replenish my energy if i don't have money yet to buy food?
At first, there are not many ways! At first, foraging is the best idea - eating the wild goods that spawn around the world. Once you grow a crop, you can also save some of your produce to eat for energy. Once you unlock the ability through increasing your foraging skill, your best bet is to make 'field snacks' from crafting an acorn, pine cone and maple seed together. After cutting down a few trees you should collect a few of these seeds. Hope that helps 😊

Mods are amazing! But the game itself is also incredible, in my opinion you don't really "need" them... They're just extra fun after you've been playing for a few years ☺️
I love Mods. Though I recommend playing the vanilla game for a while before you get into Mods other than visual Mods, some recolor the tiles to make more muted colors. Don't add too much and keep an eye on if the Mods heavily unbalance the game. If you use Cjb cheats too early they take away the fun I think.
i bought this game when i got my switch 2 years ago and i am now just playing it for the first time. still a little confusing tho. im on day 7 and i feel like i have barely gotten anything done

No, if you chop trees down around the world they will grow back 😊

@@crowravencorvenrow yes, around the world as in not on the farm. On your farm you can replant your trees with seeds you collect from chopping them down 😊
