When we saw this scene at the movie theater, we all jumped out of our seats with excitement! This was the coolest shit goin down at the time! I get the same feelings 35 years later! Just bad ass! Rock Steady Crew!!
The best ever battel scene. My daughter was a dance extra in Beat Street. The Rock Steady Crew and some of the NYC Breakers hung out in my house. I have tons of pictures of them dancing in my house and in clubs. Unforgettable times
I was 4 years old when this came out and I watched this shit 100000s of times to master these moves. Greatest BBoy movie Ever! "Let's serve 'em'' is classic.
Songs played: Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force - Frantic Situation Xena - Only Love (Shadows) - i personally met her months ago Arthur Baker - Breakers Revenge
these guys are legends of breakdance, bboy george and niazi the turk... if anyone knows melbourne breakers then add to my history of the 80's high school breakers. flinders street break scene in 83......inspirational.
break is the largest film I've seen in my life. Excellent music and dancers. Thanks to the film makers to get a photographic record of this era. Africa Bambaataa, Rock Steady Crew, New York City Breakers, Grand Master Flash live legends. This movie is part of a break in history. Hip Hop Break Dance but I live in the greatest .... Guszti Szabó, Budapest Hungary.
still love this film as much as when i first saw it in 83. "whats the big deal about eatin oatmeal, when all i feel is tired for real, my tongue too quick,my rap too slick, my gallant talent like a magic trick" "eat your eggs before i break your legs" \o/
This has to be the most complete scene of the infamous Roxy battle between the NYC Breakers and Rock Steady Crew. Up until this video, we had only seen pieces of this battle scene. Like this video because it is a rare piece of footage and American heritage history.
I love Beat. Street with all my heart the movie is amazing I watch the movie all the time in the morning when I get ready to go to work and I love everyone who is in the movie the break dance at Roxy was amazing
I agree. I get the feeling that "Breakin'" was Hollywood's attempt to make a "Saturday Night Fever" for hip-hop. Thankfully, they failed, and hip-hop didn't meet the same fate as disco: oversaturation way too soon.
@@michaelkennedy5126 yeah it was ...i moved to California back in 1986 and i cant tell you how many of them cat's out there thought turbo could beat mr. wave in a popping contest ..they obviously didnt see this scene..
When the crowd shouted “Crazy legs”...the fact that it’s the same dude from our favorite video game Def Jam FFNY. That’s wild 🤯. He’s the one that took off his shoes in the end of the battle.
We used to have breakdancing contests in our neighborhood back in the early 80's. No cellphones or distractions. Interacting & having fun without drink or drugs.
I love how they're like the Bloods and Crips of the dance floor in either red or blue. Great flick though. This is the first soundtrack I ever owned on tape as a kid. Can still recite the Beat Street Breakdown...Melle Mel, kids!
This brings chills!! we used to battle in Hollywood all the time with boogalo shrimp and poping taco way back. A few on whittier blvd but mostly Hollywood. Nike supreme Team!! brings back memories!! 2021 dec.
MY ALLLL TIME FAVORITE IS HOW THEY ALL MARCHED IN ON BEAT STREET NYC. FLOOR MASTERS N HOW THE BATTLE SHUTS DOWN THE WHOLE DSNCE FLOOR N NO ONE LEAVES THEY STAND BACK N WATCHED...DOPE💖
So another resident showed me a video of him popping and we used this video as the music. TELL ME WHY EVERYTHING SYNCED UP PERFECT! I’m not gonna say his age, but whoa! That just totally changed my life!
Shout out 2 Darrius n Darrell the Twinz of Wilmington, Delware. They loved this movie from kids all the way 2 their adulthood. Rest n Paradise Twinz. Y'all r sorely missed although I know y'all r 2gether now!!!!🙏🙏🙏😥😥😥
Saw this at the ABC theatre in Leeds when it came out, without a doubt, the most authentic break dance movie ever made, especially this battle, had many a battle at the Ritzy like this!
I always thought the nyc breakers were the guys in red and rock steady was in blue. I was watching a vid that said it was rock steady and it was the guys in red.
Jeremy Allen you got it my brother, remember crazy legs is rock steady Zulu, and the last dude that took out he's sneakers at the end was crazy legs in blue.
@@sentry9834 Rocksteady already served NYC Breakers at the Lincoln center in 81! And at the Negril in 82! Only difference? They really got served and not just in a movie!
I like how Breakers Revenge doesn't really have song structure. No real "hook". It just goes on various directions. The only consistency is that bass line and it's over all dopeness. Reminds me of Man Parrish' song Hip Hop Be Bops joint in that regard
Mister Keyes I was just about to comment ,the same, back in the day ,”just begun”,”turn it loose”were the 2 heavy hitters in breaking battles, that’s when crews would really pop off.James Brown turn it loose ,would usually be for Brooklyn “style” Rocking!!
The NYC breakers were in 16 candles too, but the dance scene was cut out. You can see them in Samanthas class room dressed in thier burgundy/ white windbreakers as in the battle here.
When life was good and you could live it without having to worrying about offending anyone or them offending you we all just lived life and enjoyed it. No damn BS drama
just remember that night at the roxy club i was there rock steady crew only had 6 members and one was a girl baby love and NYC breakers had 8 crew members if mr freeze and wiggles was there for rock steady crew they would of won hands down even tho there both excellent breakers with diffrent syles RIP to kurika buck 4 and glide much love respect to all god bless .
This was a time before B-boy went commercial. Before sponsors and people B-Boy for money. Where acknowledgement of skill was your reward. There wouldn't be New school B-Boy if it wasn't for this film, Breakin 1&2, and all the old school films before this generation . #Facts

The Coldest break dance battle scene EVER . Back when life was good and you can battle dancing have fun and be the king of the streets..

💯
Yeah indeed 👍🏻💯 great time. But they made beat street (nyc breakers) look weak. They in real life I thought were better than the Rock steady crew.
Nit liked out now dancing 😮😊😅
Beat Street and Wild Style was the best breaking movies to represent NYC hands down
When we saw this scene at the movie theater, we all jumped out of our seats with excitement! This was the coolest shit goin down at the time! I get the same feelings 35 years later! Just bad ass! Rock Steady Crew!!
Yes ,it was first time in a movie, that breaking was being shown, besides Wild Style(OG documentary to profile young hip hop movement).
I remember when Crazy Legs took his shoes off during that back spin everybody in the movie theater went crazy.
Right? I remember the same thing. Love this movie. Brings me back.
crazy legs still breaks check out the 2019 vids
Why did his feet stink 😂😂
We started jumping into the aisles, yelling.
The theatre usher had to come in to tell us to get back in our seats. Lol
Man do I miss those days...
The best ever battel scene. My daughter was a dance extra in Beat Street. The Rock Steady Crew and some of the NYC Breakers hung out in my house. I have tons of pictures of them dancing in my house and in clubs. Unforgettable times
That’s AWESOME!!!!!
wow NYC Breakers, your so lucky and blessed
When blacks, whites, and Latinos partied together
Yes
Something that the youth these days will never see
No one is partying nowadays because of covid19!!!!
And no Democrats dividing us

This brings back memories either I was watching Hills Street Blues or something like this on a late night 80's TV channel back in the day.

If bloods and crips battle like this the world be a better place lol
that was the entire point of early hip hop culture
What about other gangs. The gang I'm in is part of Arizona history. 1930s

That is what they were supposed to do
They did back then gang volonice was down breaker just played out

when u compare this move to BREAKIN you can tell cali money and new York movie money , even with half the budget this was a very good movie
I agree. I get the feeling that "Breakin'" was Hollywood's attempt to make a "Saturday Night Fever" for hip-hop. Thankfully, they failed, and hip-hop didn't meet the same fate as disco: oversaturation way too soon.

Really cool tell me more
My favorite movie of all time... I'm bout to break out the cardboard ....
These guys are dancing more flexibly than many of us today are unable to do.
Epic.
The excited tension was so 🔥 before the battle started.
We all knew it was coming.
To be honest - it was the entire reason we saw the movie.
We used to have breakdancing contests in our neighborhood back in the early 80's. No cellphones or distractions. Interacting & having fun without drink or drugs.
Crazy decided to take off his sneakers off at the end of the spin, at the last minute. He didn't even know it will work.
the Ultimate break dance battle, watched this hundreds of times back in the 80's
Beautiful Times!
Reminds me of the good ol' days of hip hop in NYC.
