Today is the 12th anniversary of the day I started writing Majora. As final revisions continue, I intended to have a revised instrumental of Deku Palace up for the occasion since that was the first thing I ever orchestrated for the opera, but Majora's Aria will do. ^_^
Ive been following since around 2015 in high school and Im surprised it's still being worked on. Most ambitious projects like this are never finished. If this ever ever goes to the opera house I will absolutely go see it.
Even though this is without lyrics, I just love the fact that this utter KEYSMASH of a song is considered an "Aria" for Majora. Fitting for an entity that is obsessed with mindless destruction and sadistic chaos.
An aria is just a somewhat long opera number written for a solo voice with instrumental accompaniment, really, so this is exactly that! xD I understand what you mean, though.
@@MBulteau That's fair; I less meant it against the idea of an aria, more the fact that the music matches the sheer insanity that is Majora. My favorite tune of the show though!
Again, gotta gush how excited and I am in love I am with this project. Been following it since 2014 and my friends have just have to deal with the fact I can't shut up about it. ❤
What an amazing 12 years it's been! When I discovered your project I was just barely starting high school and all that was out were your very first two demos, so it's been an absolute treat seeing your progress over the years. This is absolutely stunning as always!
It's been a long road, and I do hope to see this project realized some day! But even if it isn't, it's still been really cool to see and hear your work
i havent been here for 12 years, but as a huge majoras mask fan its just so cool to see someone putting this much effort into this. i am really excited to see whats coming in the future :)
I've been following this project since the beginning. And I am so glad to still be seeing all the new videos of them. It still makes me smile, just like the first few videos did. I just love these so much.
One thing i forgot to mention i like how this instrumental is more chaotic than the old one (which i was able to hear properly by extracting the vocals but not that good) this instrumental has somewhat more dept than the old one and the first parts are slower in the beginning of the incarnation theme compared to the old instrumental which seemed faster the change of instruments was a good idea and adding the other various effects to the new instrumental the new instrumental feels like how it should be chaotic and carry on by both the instrumental and the singer both matching majora's deranged nature while the old one was mostly lead by the singer
Thank you! This final version is still lead by the singer, but you can't tell as-is with their absence. There's a layer of interaction missing because of that. They are both led by the singer, but the orchestra here is written to be more intertwined and reactive to the vocal part, as opposed to the old method of a droning background. Maybe some time much later I'll have the time to record.
Hello MBulteau, been a fan of yours since I first heard of your project on Zelda Informer. Great job on this instrumental, it feels so much fuller and emotive. Is this the final version of the song, pre-vocals?
Always shocked by the quality of your work, though I certainly shouldn't be any longer. So grateful to be able to listen to these snippets and hear the progression over the years like this. Thank you!!
question i forgot to ask (and since im curious) seeing the snippet of this number using artificial vocals how does the rest of it sound? especially with the voice distortions in full display
@@Jeffrey-julis Those artificial vocals are soloist patches from a choral sample library. I use them only as placeholders to compose the digital instrumental mockup, so as to have an idea of what the whole sounds like including the timbre of opera singers. This means that, unlike with the digital instruments, I don't spend time refining their programming. I only use basic "ah" patches out of the box, which sound very clumsy 99% of the time, and I like to call them "banjo-kazooie voices" because of that. Even if I did spend time refining them, like all vocal sample libraries they are very limited. It just so happens that that snippet I posted as a short sounds decent, even though it is of course meant to have words instead of just vocalisations. As for vocal distortions in Majora, they are meant to be doable live, and are peppered very infrequently for effect. I found they work best if mostly kept to sprechstimme and spoken dialogue, seeing that I can often double the singer at an augmented fourth instrumentally, without having to resort to the effect.

(also no thanks to youtube for compressing the hell out of the video *again* even though this time I rendered it in 4K at 70 mbps x_x)
i can't believe it has that long
@@SolidLink64 same xD
I Remember I began to follow you when I was at the university. 😱 I have enjoyed how the project has evolved since then.

I absolutely love this I love majoras design
The music is excellent but the artwork is also INCREDIBLE. I love this interpretation of the Majora's Wrath design.

Congratulations on 12 years. I really appreciate your hard work and am gladly looking forward to the finish.

A testament to how coincidence can lead to strange, strange outcomes indeed.

Showing that the old one was less expressive than the new one
And a prime example on how instrumentals can improve

Happy 12th anniversary! ❤ I’m always amazed by your works!! I’d love to see your opera on stage someday 😍

Thank you :) it is. It's a minute longer than the draft used for the demo, and it has a different structure from 3:33 onwards.
Just when I thought this piece couldn't get any wilder or more intense. Your work continues to be incredible.

Just perfectly beautiful, as always!

(Also since I'm learning and trying to understand Coloratura Soprano artificial vocal type stuff)
