Thanks for such detailed review, i am using Sony FX3, comparing Sony 35 1.4 GM and Sony 35 1.8 for video shooting and film making purpose only. If I don’t mind the focus breathing issue on GM, just considering the video image quality. Does these 2 lenses make any noticeable differences? Silly question but in the start where you had the auto and eye focus on you and you were moving around, was that achieved by keeping the button pressed half way the whole time?
Hey Julia, do you like the Sony 35mm F1.4 GM more than the Zeiss 35mm F1.4? I’m debating on selling my Zeiss 35 to get the Sony 35 GM 🤔 should I do it?
Great review and photos as always Julia. I love the lens, but really don't like the quick pulse you get when it acquires focus in AF-S. My 85 1.8 doesn't have this issue....
That's the lens to combine into a small kit with Tamron's new 28-300. One prime with high optical quality and fast aperture, one zoom for allround shooting without changing lenses. Plus, the Tamron is good where the GM is worst at (the one thing where it doesn't excel): focus breathing, so doing video is checked as well on the combination. =)

Hi Julia! I am your new fan!! Like all your photos taken and your cheerful voice! I am planning to get Sony FF A7C, coming from m43. :) I always love to take my wife and son during weekend outing. Does the 35mm f1.4 len itself able to let me shoot all my family outing needs as well as easy travelling?
Thank you! No, you can't track 2 people at once. You have to pick one to track then it's up to you with aperture and positioning of your subjects to get them both in focus :) And yes when I can only pick one lens to take photos in many styles when I'm travelling, the 35mm does a great job!
