Thank you David ! The 3 step progression made so much sense. I didn't really think through the export step until your video. I do my own printing so this information is very helpful.
Amazing presentation! There is a lot to digest. I cut my teeth in the print industry and have managed to hold myself back by actively ignoring steps 1 & 3. Thank you, once again, for opening my eyes.
Great presentation, thank you. I never knew what the "threshold" slider was for, and you explained it well with the blue sky example and kept it set to "1". So, why is it set to "0" by default elsewhere (export sharpener, for example)?
Excellent video, very helpful and instructive ! Do you think you will do a "noise management lesson" ? I would love to know how to optimize my noise levels and if it is possible to correct some pictures with big levels of noise in it ? Thanks a lot !
Great presentation, but sharpening algorithms (deconvolution) and denoise (AI) need urgently an update in this software, especially having the not insignificant price increase in mind.
Hi sir, I'm so new to this, as of tonight. after editing some photos I exported them to a folder but now I can't find that export. Any tips on where to find my exports?
We will need a bit more details to assist you with this issue. If you cannot find the images in the Export Location selected in Capture One, please drop a line to our tech team at captureone.co/support sending them a screen recording of your export procedure. They will help you out.
Hi, the result of this workflow depends on the masked area, initial brush settings (e.g. Hardness), so it's difficult to say whether it's going to be 100% helpful. If you wish to investigate this on a particular example together with our tech team, you're welcome to drop them a line at support.captureone.com.
When you print from C1 rather than export a file to print elsewhere, you dont get the same print sharpening tool. Why is that, and should I stop printing from C1 and export files to print instead in order to get back control of my print sharpening?
Just as I posted that, David answered a question on the exact topic. Sharpening on the direct print option isn't as good as exporting, which is a pita that adds extra steps and time for every print!
I always “Liked” Capture One but the software now is soooooooo behind the competition, no good AI tools , the ones it has are just useless for many styles of photographers, the updates are useless and pointless, no innovation at all. ON1, although the performance is not as good as Capture One, has way more amazing tools.
@@CaptureOne hello!! Tools like AI subject/sky/background selection when masking . Sky replacement, noise reduction AI. I love the speed and performance of capture one, there is not doubt, in my opinion, that of all different editing software I have tried, capture one is the fastest, that’s why I keep my subscription.
C1 doesn't repair bugs that have been there for ages: C1 crashes constantly on my iMac (latest Model i9) as well as on my MacBook Air (M1). After a few couple of pictures (every half hour) it crashs when using masks (just an example). Then you have to force the Macs to quit C1, restart again and - Even more annoying - you have to open every single preset in your preset menue. Why doesn't the program remember what was open...?!?!?!?!? Same with the healing brush: After two or three strokes I can't use te shortcuts on my Keyboard anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every f...cking time I want to switch e.g. from the healing brush to the eraser I have to leave the healing layer, click on the eraser, go back to the healing layer and then I am finally able to erase my strokes of the healing brush - totally annoying and an unsolid issue for ages. And then there is the Problem with the subscribtion Model.....: On Fuji Rumors there is a guy that says he bought the latest Version at the beginning of the year who can't even update from Version 16.1 to 16.2 because he purchased it After february. New he bought a new camera and has to buy a complete new licence - or subscribe............... Shame on you C1! @@CaptureOne
Excellent tutorial. Sharpening was one subject in C1 I never fully understood - much clearer now thanks!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the Livestream and found it useful.
This is the best explanation of diffraction and examples of in-app diffraction correction I've seen on video. Thanks David.

Believe it or not, but after switching to Fuji system and changing Lightroom to C1 I don't use sharpening anymore.

My goodness, this has been the most helpful video! Thank you!

I like to use the refine mask feature with a sharp layer, is that really helpful?

If you have to use any sharpening tool out of C1, there must be something wrong with your pics. 🙂
