I went 3 years without a license suspended from a dui.. I rode a motorized bike ( with pedals) & got pulled over 5 times. Each time they let me go. It came down to pedals, mirror, flashing rear light & most importantly a helmet. All of the cops asked for my license but didn't have they commented on they liked how I was being safe & let me go. This was a 49cc gas motorized bike. All of my ebikes have pedals even though I rarely pedal. I really like your attitude. You are a good guy. Ty for posting this video

For real! Police tried to pull me over on my EUC a few weeks back. Something told me not to stop, later in the evening i looked on their Facebook page and found they were targeting E bikes in that area. The same day they seized a child’s 10mph restricted bike and put a warning to me that’s im now on their radar

My opinion is he thought I was purposely disobeying the law - a law of which he represented as falsely understanding. I mean the very contrast of rules he explained in the arrest vid. Now imagine how discombobulated his education discussion he had with me was a month prior. He never allowed me to explain anything. I think at the end of the day he was going off what he considered a much more illegal and powerful bike and even then, the arrest wasn't necessarily appropriate. Now it's the prosecutor who is thinking and along with my flake attorney, that my sentence is absolutely appropriate, as if they don't know the major differences of a vehicle and a bike. Fuck em.

At least in California it's not all that grey area, and it's probably not in Florida either. An ebike has to have pedals, and a motor with a nominal wattage of 750W or less. It has to be 28mph max speed with no throttle (class 3) or 20mph max speed with a throttle (class 2). If it isn't that, it isn't a bike. Those Talaria and Sur Ron bikes live in a place where they are not legal on any public roads because they do not qualify as bikes, and do not have the required features to have a VIN and be registered as a motor vehicle. My ebikes are both pedal bikes that can legit be rode with pedal power alone. Both of them are technically illegal, both in terms of having throttles over 20mph, and in terms of being able to slightly eclipse 28mph (both of them can get into the low 30s with a full battery). They also both look like bikes, quack like bikes, and aren't so far removed from the legal limits as to be blatently illegal. I've never gotten as much as a glance from a cop. Anyway, point here is that a Sur Ron or Talaria is obviously not street legal, and a lot of places are cracking down on those. Just having pedals on a 45mph motor bike is likewise not going to save you if a cop clocks you at 45mph and cares/knows what the law on the bikes actually is. That cop misspoke, but he was not pulling the 28mph number out of his ass. The sidewalk laws have some variance by local, but a class 3 ebike is usually NOT allowed on sidewalks, so he was probably correct that you can't use it on a sidewalk. Having pedals on a bike that looks like it can be ridden like a bike at 28mph or there abouts probably is good enough to be left alone on roads and bike trails, but in most cases even that is illegal if it is throttle powered or if it tops 28mph. (also if a cop asks you about your motor, say something that claims or implies 750W... like "I'm not sure, but I think it said 750W", because that is also a gotcha).

Also I don’t go over about 32mph max while on the sidewalk. 20-25mph is plenty. Don’t do wheelies. I abide the law as far as bikes go. Use the traffic buttons and cross the street slowly. I don’t even play!! And this is why!!! Also if you are trying to get one of these as you have a suspended license, buy a regular e bike that is limited to 28mph. And don’t be stupid. Nuff said

Ruining a person life over a bike is never okay. law-enforcement need to set laws regarding bikes instead of just going off a whim and arresting people. E bike Laws are sloppy because the tech is new and instead of using those resources to make new laws so people can read up on them follow an abide them. They just make up as they go. Usually when your already arrested. Even on a normal bike they ask questions if your in the rode for too long.

Dang, I’m in central Florida and never had one issue on my Sting R. I do try to stay at 20mph on side walks next to big roads. Heck there is weekly group rides through the streets of Orlando every Wednesday. Cops here so far have been super Chill. But I ride mostly with Common sense to avoid a problem knowing it is a grey area.

a sur ron is not a class 2, or any class of ebike in any state. It is legally classified as a moped or even just a motorcycle. This is the federal law, state laws can only make it more strict.

Wow, that sucks! Up here in Ontario Canada aperantly if the bike motor is over 500W you need insurance, reg etc, wich is total bs, mine is a 1500W hub motor and isnt very fast, has peddles, so if I get hassled I will have to spend way more money on a 500W mid drive which will be about the same touque and speed to have a decent ride, it is all these super ebikes and kids being goofs that is screwing it up for everybody.

The laws in a lot of the way are behind the times and contradictory. I live in PA for example and a Moped requires a license, registration, and insurance and plates. It also has to be 50 cc or less and can't do over 25 mph. An ebike in this state must be padel assist only and can't do more than 20. Requires no license, registration, insurance or plates. But I'd be willing to bet almost no one knows that. Almost every ebike I see on the road and I see a lot of them now are 28 mph plus throttle bikes. Ever single one of those people is driving a motorcycle by legal definition. It's too fast to even be a moped. That's nutty. I feel for the police. How are they supposed to know at a glance if a bike is legal or not? Right now they are kind of at the mercy of peoples honesty except in cases where it's just simply obviously not true. Bikes with enormous motors for example or yeah bikes that don't have pedals so aren't bikes at all.

But it’s not a motorcycle, they won’t even let you register it as a motorcycle if you tried to. Putting this guy in jail for 3 months and ruining his job and his life and taking all of his money is just insane. Seriously, he didn’t hurt anyone or steal from anyone or do anything and at all. The judges should have looked at this and threw it out immediately, it’s just so wrong seriously, the way they use the legal system no longer serves us but does significant harm to certain people in society that do not deserve it and it’s only going to get worse unless we the people stand up and change the system ourselves by what ever means possible. What do you think I mean by that?

I’m like the last person to be bootlicking and so forth, but I think you aren’t understanding how you got here nor taking any responsibility on why this happened.
It’s obvious that these bikes are not street legal and you got caught two different times by the police, as well as likely violating your parole which is why you are ending up in the klink.
The faster you can truly realize the patterns of decisions that have got you here, fully taking responsibility, and then figuring out how to get your life going in the right direction would serve you well.
All of the text whining about how the manufacturers need to do something is 100% blame shifting. You KNOW that the police will stop you for riding on the roads and so forth just like any other unregistered dirt bike. That’s squarely on you.

    What state is this?

  • @PTMG
    @PTMG 2 месяца назад

Not really sure why you are trying to make this a surron/emoto thing
You spent 90 days in jail cause you were circumventing your court ordered license restriction from your apparently plural DUIs.
Telling people to sell their surron is a strange way of coping with the fact that you fucked up and should have just worked to get your license back.
Everyone else is fine though as long as they don't have a driving record like yours. Still illegal, but no one is going to jail for 90 days for riding surrons. It just doesn't happen, and it's not why you went to jail.
You went to jail because the courts see it as you circumventing your license restriction and still riding a motorcycle, and even worse, doing it with no registration/insurance
For anyone else, again, still illegal; but you are looking at a ticket, or at worst impounding your bike, not 90 days in jail.
