People have been doing the same thing for ages with high value cars. You’ll notice they all have Montana plates in order to get out of the high registration fees based on the value of the vehicle. Go to RSF cars and coffee on a Saturday and you’ll see 90% of the cars are Montana plated.
It's really weird when you're TRYING to do the right thing and the powers that be basically say, "yeah we know you're trying to, but we really aren't into that..."

"The Montana LLC loophole is well known by law enforcement in CA. I had a friend who put Montana plates on his dual sport motorcycle and got pulled over by a Ranger. The Ranger confiscated his plates and fined him heavily and implied that he could have also been charged for title/registration fraud. The Ranger had even recognized the mailing address on the registration that pointed back to the Montana registered agent's office. It was a real bad day for my friend.".

He also didn't say if he has a motorcycle license. Id assume since it's in effect a motorcycle he'll need one. And if he doesn't have one he can catch a ticket just for that.

Sweet. Here in NEW Mexico we have legitimate privately owned branches of the DMV. Since they're private they're 100x more efficient than the government run branches. However there's an extra service fee you need to pay for that efficiency.
So when it comes to OHV's they'll pass nearly anything you bring in as long as it has it's VIN(s), headlight, and tail light. All they want is they're fee whereas the state run DMV will tell you no, stop, and don't.

Dirt legal been around for years. Had a friend in Florida register his surron through them in 2020 with no issues

Ran into something similar in my state. My state actually does have a classification for something like this which is an electric moped. No speed limits, pedal requirements, and only a vin/incidental safety inspection is what the code says is required. Unfortunately, like in this video, the DMV had a completely different idea on the laws, definition, and inspection process they are SUPPOSED to follow. Still trying but might have to take them to court to challenge it.

I am running into a similar issue with my Motor Goat v3. My Goat has a serial number, but not a VIN. It has passed a level 3 inspection for "road worthiness" in Arizona (running lights, high/low beam headlamp, brake lights, turn signals, etc). The Arizona DMV has been struggling with this for well over a month. What I need is an "assigned" VIN. This is my major hurdle. I have vehicular liability insurance on it, which exceeds the state minimum. It is too fast to be a "scooter", and does not fit their 50cc engine narrative either. It does match a special category of a vehicle in this state called a "Motor powered cycle of 5 HP or less". This category does not have a maximum speed limit, like a scooter and moped does.
The Motor Goat v3 is a 3000 watt, 45 MPH eBike. So it is well beyond the usual 28MPH 750 Watt definition of an eBike.
With pedals you can usually get away with it, but yes you would need a VIN in most cases. Perhaps a question for dirt legal as I'm not sure if it's doable or not. It MIGHT be.
There's no freeway restrictions for motorcycles, only riders. Best you should push for aim for is a motorized cycle
My diy has a VIN number, but I don't need to register it in France, I can restrict it on the go like when I'm in town so no danger.
I contacted dirt LEGAL about Montana plate. You might not have certain fees and it might be a permanent plate but in order to keep it active, you have to pay them. I think it was $100 a year.
I went through the hassle and expense of getting my admitjet armor electric dirt bike registered in WA state. However I still can’t legally ride on the road because the state requires liability insurance, and no insurer I spoke with would give me insurance at any price. Since the make and model isn’t in their database, they refuse to insure it. To further add salt to the wound the renewal tabs cost $150 because of $120 “electrification fees.” Gas dirt bike tabs are less than $30!
Progressive insured me, make and model weren't in their system either.

They've been doing this for years to help people avoid paying Taxes and Regsitration Fees. Tons if people do this and save THOUSANDS on their RVs amd Vehicles. You can even get a PO BOX number for any mail that you get they the electronically send you your mail.
Good on you. I have an m1ps also and the DMV said “it’s beyond our expertise”. So I’m just ballin’ until something happens. To be fair I go really slow, let people pass, and am out in the boons. Suggestion-Take the Eahora stickers off. It’s looks much sleeker

Assume you’re driving the bike in California, get pulled over, and are asked for your license and registration.
What happens when the registration is to an LLC that doesn’t match your license? Do you carry your LLC papers with you?
How many months can you drive in California without the requirement of registering the bike in California?
How much will it cost to transfer that title and pay the fees and taxes?
Will there be any additional problems with registration in California given the hurtles you went through before even though it was legally registered in Montana before the transfer?
And finally, who underwrites the insurance required for an operating a vehicle in California when it is registered in Montana?

I got my rumble motors air ss v2 with max speeds of 65mph and I use it as ebike here in Florida. Whenever I see a cop , I just start pedaling. 🤣

This is what happens when you get a bloated, super majority of one party government. The problem is not only with vehicles. I have a Moen sink that has a swivel. It began to drip, so I tried to order the parts to fix it, which consisted of 2 O-rings and a nylon piece only to find out the repair parts are illegal in California and cannot be shipped into the state. California is the state that just past massive water restrictions and you would think they would be happy that someone was trying to conserve water, but the brain dead politicians just keep passing legislation with unintended consequences. The only answer is to move out of California before it totally collapses.

Any advise on needing a motorcycle license for any of these bikes? Looking to get Eahora, Land or Maeving. I live in Illinois and In my younger years I risked never getting my license. Now when im looking up the regulations it’s a pretty big gray area of if I need to get a license. Like you said Eahora website calls them scooters which I wouldn’t need a license for here but just looking at it, it’s obviously a motorcycle.
Definitely need a license for land and maeving. Under most states I'd say probably for the eahora too.

Moving the title to California would probably be possible at this stage, but is not legally required.
The only thing holding me back from doing this myself is the insurance. How do you plan on getting coverage when they ask you address, my agent even said why isn't it tagged here in Florida if you live here?

I think the main selling point for the Surron and the e-moto class bikes is the gray zone they fit in modern traffic law. The ambiguity that they provide to someone who wants to rip around a big city and not get in trouble.... if riding responsibly is something that makes them a more attractive choice for someone that hates government involvement.

These will be outlawed in many states soon RUclipsrs have made them way too popular. It’s inevitable that you’ll have to have registration and insurance to operate. You’re not fooling anybody with putting pedals on a bike that goes 50 mph and calling it pedal assist anymore. People know what these bikes are now they’re not new and exciting anymore.
If you have to have registration and insurance for a little 50 cc moped, then there, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t have to for these electric bikes, which are much faster

If you ask me, the Montana plate is a red flag for cops, telling them "This guy is riding an illegal machine", causing them to instantly light you up.
To be honest, your attitude reeks of entitlement, as in, "It's got wheels and a motor. I have a right to register it".
I'm not saying that most of the world is wayyyyy behind on integrating small electrics into their transportation systems, and that they desperately need to catch up... but that doesn't mean that they should just close their eyes and allow any wheeled device on public roads, and at the moment, your bike doesn't qualify in California. So, don't be surprised if/when you get stopped, and maybe even lose it.

I've been a motorcycle rider all my life. Never meet a bike worth more than 5k, ever. Best i've seen for Great Quality are Hondas. Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suski are next best Quality wise.
