      Wouldn't you want to have that slab at a slope so it drains away from the house?

    Great work guys so glad you could help out the parents. Family is golden!😊thanks my friend 😊

  • @Zdosse
    @Zdosse 21 день назад +12

    Those landscaper guys are not professional.
    1) Wood was missing between the house foundation and the slab.
    2) The metal mesh shouldn’t be placed on the ground in the video. It should be in the middle of the slab. To do that, they should place some plastic rebar holder to hold it up before pouring concrete.

  • @harveyellis6758
    @harveyellis6758 21 день назад +6

    @1:34 it is actually not level and there appears to be a slight slope towards the house. Ideally you do not want a level slab, but to have a slope **away from** the house for proper drainage.

    • @FixThisHouse
      @FixThisHouse  21 день назад +2

      House is sloped downhill towards the front 👍🏽😊

  • @richardmahan4197
    @richardmahan4197 21 день назад +7

    The wire mesh will not strengthen the concrete lying on the ground. It should be raised to about one-half the depth of the pour. Otherwise, it's a very nice video.

    Is the "finishing trowel" step really necessary if it's going to be below the shed? Does it just make it look better, or does it make it more reliable and not likely to crack or cause issues in coming years?

    If you put down some minus rock before pouring the concrete, how many inches deep should it be?

  • @1252PFC

    why no wood between the home foundation and slab? How did they level out the cement without something to rest on towards the home?

    • @OverDriveah
      @OverDriveah 21 день назад +1

      That is what i was wondering to.Maybe its because there is already a concrete barrel there

  • @sarkae0405
    @sarkae0405 19 дней назад

    I've seen their dry concrete product, where you just pour out the powder and spray water over it. Then it hardens and you're pretty much done. Is this not a good solution for a shed pad? Is there any advantage besides maybe cost over using your mixer with the concrete instead of having a company truck in premixed and you finish it?

      I liken this to when my wife labors in the kitchen, leaves food cooking and asks me to turn it off at a certain time or add something to it. I didn’t cook the food but to other people do I take credit for cooking the food? Absolutely.

      Looks like he had a team come in but this really is a DIY type of project. We did this before when we poured a slab for a 24x24 garage. It's not overly difficult. As he says, take your time.

    If you’re claiming this is DIY then DIY! Hiring professionals defeats the purpose. Are you going to record the building of your new home (if it hasn’t been built yet) and call it DIY as well? “If you need any of the tools we used on this video” 😂
