Other than the Mandalorian, I think all the new Star Wars shows should be animated. It would keep costs down, and give less of a reason to cancel any new shows.
My biggest issue with the Acolyte is that it spent the first half introducing all these characters and then just deleted most of them half way through in a total bloodbath with almost no preamble and to no real purpose. A close second is that the twist villain wasn’t much of a twist, though by that point adding yet another new person into the mix could have created more problems than it solved. It seemed like a lot of good ideas duct-taped together into something less than the sun of its parts.
yeah...that's how you can tell that Disney corp became involved, destroying the original plot of the series to appease the Reddit-boys. It's no surprise when Hedgland announced that Qimir wasn't even supposed to appear until season 2. But Disney pushed it through so they could drop in Plagueis, who was never part of the plot. But white incels will not clamor for a "Snyder cut" of a non-white series.
but when taken as a whole instead of episode by episode...doesn't it make more sense? I don't understand, it's like people would stop reading a mystery novel 1/4 of the way through and then say they had sooo many questions...
Discarding the trashy rage-baiting, toxic corner of the Star Wars universe, there is a way for REAL fans who liked OR disliked The Acolyte to have their proverbial cake and eat it, too. A second season of the series is not necessary to continue the story and resolve the cliffhanger/conflicts we were left with. A DARTH PLAGUEIS SERIES (*or movie) can shift the focus to him, while including relevant Acolyte characters. Leslye Headland and her team have already done the heavy-lifting in terms of backstory. A Plagueis series has the potential to 1) fulfill his story arc in live action, leading into the events of Ep1, just as Rogue One leads into Ep4, and Andor into Rogue One; 2) build upon the aspects of The Acolyte we enjoyed (i.e., choreography, lore, guest appearances, etc.), while 3) addressing shortcomings - Real or perceived - in The Acolyte's storytelling with new writers and a new showrunner/director. This isn't about me, or you, toxic fans, RUclipsrs, Disney, KK, etc.. The focus, as it ALWAYS should be, is the story. OSHA/MAE, THE STRANGER, VENESTRA, DARTH PLAGUEIS, TENEBROUS, YOUNG PALPATINE, and any adjacent/affiliate characters deserve to have their stories added to the almost 50yr old tapestry of live action Star Wars... I support any honest efforts in making that a reality.
Thank you! None of the smart fans are denying that some things in The Acolyte were less than good, with one thing in particular, being bad, but you just brilliantly explained why it is a shame to not get a second season. So many storylines that are actually very good, they just need to be told better, in episodes that are longer than 25 minutes.
The real shame is that they screwed up the first season so badly that it didn’t get renewed for a second season. Just because they had interesting plot threads to pick up in season 2 doesn’t mean the execution would’ve been any better than the first season.
Crazy theory: plaguis and qimir are also a force diad and they're very old, but they've gained the ability to siphon youth from one to the other and currently qimir holds the most youth making his counterpart appear as an ancient ghoul. They're desperate to find a second diad because of they can bring them together, they can be used to understand how to create life but they also plan to siphon their youth allowing them to coexist as young for years to come.
Not all haters of the show are racists and sexists. Some of the show was just bad. "The power of MAAAAAAANNNNYYYY" A rock facility burning down because of a a burning diary... The flip flopping of both Osha and Mae. Osha pulling out suddenly force strong enough to kill her former master and friend when she could barely do the force earlier... Qimir was obviously the sith that was first training Mae, it wasnt even kinda a mystery. The dialogue in general was just forced. And none of those valid complaints are about race, sex or "wokeness" it was all just bad stuff
The power of many was going to show up in the second season as Mae and Osha were bound to meet again. The rocks were covered in wood and other organic material and laced with gas pipes. I didn't see Osha or Mae make an unreasoned change in direction, but I can see how people with little life experience or a lack of empathy could believe they did. Osha was filled with Dark Force power because of anger over the things she'd just learned to turn her against her friend. Qimir's identity is obvious only in hindsight; the master could have been several others. These complaints don't hold up, but they're a lot like what the trolls want people to think.
@@blairhoughton7918 Yup yup and yup. It's amazing how people with keen observation skills are the ones who enjoy the show, and those who saw like a single still or scene in a "cringe compilation" or whatever whine. Like "Power of Many". A witch coven? Singing? Being creepy? Performing verbal witch magic and rituals? Perish the thought! It's obviously just cringe and doesn't fit the narrative or actions of those characters!
Nobody seems to question that the Acolyte takes place a century before phantom menace(wookieepedia/showrunners). Sheev Palpatine was 52 years old during the Phantom Menace. Even if you want to play with dates to make your point, Sheev was human and would age appropriately. It would not be possible to see a young apprentice Paps 100 years before Phantom Menace show up in the near Acolyte timeline future.
My biggest question is why the distain / contempt for The Acolyte? I didn’t think it was very good, I’m concerned that 180M got me what I saw on the screen, and I won’t lose a minute of sleep over the cancellation. I don’t understand - it’s a TV show.
I think the cost went up as the delays and changes went on. Messing with talent and CGI company schedules is expensive, since they'd have to buy them out of other contracts. Just guessing though, because the other guess is the producers filed phony costs and bought themselves an island...

I am also bummed out that the plot threads that you mentioned are not potentially going to be played out anytime soon …the lightsaber battles and the Sith elements are truly the best parts of the Acolyte…and I can’t forget this part…the strange behind closed doors relationship that Vanestra and Yoda would seem to apparently have and the Vanestra/Qimir connection! Lucasfilm, you have to make this happen!!
yeah super bummed mate! frustrating series but was excited to see the lore unfold! and was excited to see a second season that was free of its self imposed mystery-style constraints and had learned lots of lessons from season one.
the Hero we need. I'm relieved Acolyte got cancelled, but I do really hope a new show or movie is made about Plagueis where everyone from Acolyte are side characters. After you mentioned the idea that it could be yoda hunting down Plagueis, I pictured a scene where P;lagueis and a young Palpatine or, I suppose, Quimur are arguing about why they obviously can't kill Yoda. It would be cool to see Yoda finding clues but eventually giving up, (maybe do to political reasons, like everyone questioning why he's been gone for so long) showing another failure of his as Grand Master. The lightsaber fights could be the Acolyte sisters attacking and escaping Yoda, who only fights defensively and tries to get information from them, a few times leading up to them attacking and being absolutely destroyed in a visually spectacular way. Definitely still needs an actual arc, but that would be cool as hell to see.
Kymir and Oasha are not evil? I’m not sure if I can continue watching your videos if you say things that are this silly. The entire series was about Kymir corrupting OSHA to literally murder Jedi. Get a grip man.
I would love to see this story continued as its own animated series like "Star Wars - End of the High Republic" instead of one-off episodes of the "Tales off...". If anything maybe this should have been an animated series from the the get-go.
Question I never see asked is how did Yoda know about the rule of 2? According to Qi Adi Mundi they've been gone 1000 years, he's still in the dark so that tracks. But in TPM Yoda says the whole "always 2 there are" line. We know now that he may have gotten knowledge from Vernestra of the Sith's return, but before that how would he have known of the rule of 2? That didn't exist before they were supposedly wiped out. Darth Bane did that at the end to ensure the survival of the Sith.
I believe this was touched upon in Clone Wars. Basically, the rule of 2 was older than the 1,000 year "extinction". A Sith ghost, by the name of Darth Bane appears when Yoda learns of how to become a Force ghost himself. Yoda recognizes him as Darth Bane and his creation of the Rule of Two. Now, how he knew about Bane is another question entirely, but he knew about it seemingly well before the Acolyte. Or this may have been his introduction, and he traced back the Sith lineage to Bane.
I definitely wanted to learn more about Qimir. I will say this series inspired me to read the Darth Plaguies novel, and bringing some of that into canon would've also been great. Regardless, the Acolyte was an ok show that started a lot of cool concepts, and I hope they continue. Either on screen, or in novelization.
Yeah, im bombed its not getting a 2nd season, legends has some good stuff and this was an opportunity for them to streamline into canon for more interesting stories beyond military in space. Im really surprised that the production quality was so low.
Why didn't Sol's lightsaber explode in Osha's hand when she activated it with the kyber jutting out of the side of the hilt? Loved Qimir and Vernestra's tension.
And this is why no one takes the fans of this show seriously. To say she is one of the strongest when she could barely pull objects earlier and only when she did the dumb heel turn on Sol did she pull powers out of her ass suddenly
Wait wait wait I’m going to stop you right there, Ki adi mundi knew that it couldn’t have been sol because while the attempt on Torbin happened sol was with osha which was what excused OSHA in the first place, if Venestra told the same lie to Ki adi as she told the senate wouldn’t he have been like wait what happened with the apprentice from the hologram we just watched
This show had very good story lines, but they weren't well told. Maybe if the episodes were longer, they'd be better executed. I don't know. I personally didn't connect with any characters, but some plots were really intriguing.
I might be in thd minority but i enjoyed the series. It had its problems, but i liked the characters and a bit more of a look into dark side stuff, which wasnt just the normal "I'm evil because I'm Sith" type of thing. It gave them more depth. I saw an unofficial fan-made re-cut of the show which made it so much better to watch. Personally i would like it to move to animation like "Visions" and "Tales of..." As this would cut thd cost to make, but still be able to tell good stories.
I think another issue is that they producers likely get given a budget to do the show and are told it must be at least 6 episodes long, but no more than X (probably 10). That they all need to have at least an average run time of 40 mins or more per episode. But they get the same amount of money for the whole season rather than per episode. This leads to having very short seasons of short length episodes as it would cost more to increase either. I believe if the series had 10 episodes of 45 mins or whatever it could have actually had a bit more depth to it. This also could have given the opportunity to learn about the characters a bit before getting into the flashbacks.
Imo the acolyte was hinting that osha & kymir might be the parents of palpatine? If this takes place about 100yrs before the phantom menace I thought that could be a long enough timeline for palpatine to be born, taken under plaguis tutelage (kinda how like the Jedi prefer the youngest of younglings) that would explain his origin and how he was under the spell of the dark side pretty much from birth. It would explain how he so easily he infiltrated the senate all while hiding his power. Because he’s been a sith from birth, guided by plaguis’ hand from conception. Is that a possibility? 🧐🤔
It might also explain why the force diad of Rey and Kylo was so important to him, because his mother was also a force diad therefore he was a product of it. 🧐🤔🤔🤔
This show feels like a poorly written "Star Wars: Visions" throw away episode that they made live action & stretched into a season & tried to make some money off. I don't even considered this cannon 😂😂
I think Qimir may not be a Sith. He says to the Jedi I am what YOU would call a Sith. I think he may just be a darkside user and that Plagueis may have been drawn to his world by Qimir’s strength with the darkside. Plagueis may have been sneaking around to find out who was here and what they were doing. We possibly could have seen Plagueis and a young Palpatine going after Qimir and Osha as rivals. Who knows!?
I really enjoyed this show and I've been super bummed out since I heard about no season 2. And "Twin Flame" is staying in my Spotify playlist. Boo Disney. Boo. You have the money to make this show in your couch cushions.
The problem with the second season of the acolyte is, the one you are describing would be great. But we all know that’s not the show we would’ve gotten. I’m glad it’s cancelled. This show was genuinely hard to watch at times but there were times it was very enjoyable. But making a show to try to make the sequel trilogy more compelling isn’t going to work, and this shows cancellation proves that.
and the skywalkers...I really enjoyed the world building. Frankly the only legacy characters I want to revisit are the droids and Chewbacca. Gimme Quinlin Voss and Assage Ventress. Gimme a real sith story focus.
@@zerolegacy7821 who is to say we wouldn't have seen that kind of response in season 2 lmao. There's only so much they can do in a season and they they wanted the Jedi to represent that reaction this time. Personally I agree though, it would have been interesting to see more of a mystical, dark based series following someone misguided, ultimately realizing they're quite literally a chosen one Mary Sue by design, being chased by a "white blood cell" type of person or creature trying to correct the balance.
The thing that makes me most sad is qimir. He really surprised me. At first honestly i hated him for his anime bleach ass mask, but he turned out to be badass
I was really looking forward to a second season, but I'll remain optimistic about the future. Hopefully, we could see more stories about these characters, but who knows? Personally, I would love to see it. The show was good overall, although it needed some improvement - but no show is perfect.
they made a play to expand on some major star wars lore involving the sith but then abandoned it and seemingly intent on pretending it never happened. hate that, either wrap it up in one season or commit to the full story
Thanks for the video. It’s obviously directed at those who enjoyed the show and probably the reason why you weren’t just complaining, crying and bashing the show. So what if alot of people hated the show, some liked it. This video was made for those who liked the show and want to know where it was headed. I’m sure the haters don’t care where it was headed so why complain about the video? Thanks again for the video
yes, bummed. it wasn't prefect, but most shows aren't in their first season. they could have improved in the 2nd season, the biggest thing is the story had a lot to it. a lot of shows feel like they stretch nothing into a whole show, this felt like they had a good amount of story for each episode
Huh? This show was stretched!! Literally two full episodes were flashbacks about the exact same event. Could have been done in 10 minutes. Instead we see the same scenes twice from slightly different viewpoints for no reason
@ScreenCrush enabled me to see past the politics, for the show that actually was. I was excited for the next season because of you guys and gals. Thank you for this😊
IDK respect to SC and all but this is giving the Acolyte a whole lot of credit for what *could have* happened in S2. IMHO it was kind of a slog to get through every week, none of the characters were likeable (ETA except for Qimir), and the twists to the "mysteries" were obvious from a mile away. I didn't care for the acting but maybe they were trying to mimic the emotionless delivery of the prequels? Who knows. I would rather Disney hand Colton $180 mil to see what he could do with the story than throw more money at the creative team they had. The Acolyte, like Kenobi and BOBF before it, were enormous missed opportunities for Disney to just print money. I really don't think they know what to do with Star Wars. I would love to see a KOTOR adaptation but I don't want Disney to mess that up too.
I’m also bummed that they cancelled the show, I really enjoyed it. Enjoyed Colton’s analysis too, I’m also hoping everything gets tied up in a follow up that named something else and isn’t as toxic as the Acolyte has unnecessarily become because of ‘fans’
Every hobby/industry has toxic fans. Only the ones that produce poor content will complain about them though. The rest just get on with producing the best content they can. Disney is THE MOST POWERFUL entertainment giant in the history of the modern world. With that in mind, it is the HEIGHT of embarrassment that this mega-corp is having a cry online about toxicity. Its WILD!!!!!! This is the same corporation that screws people over wrongful death cases based on a god damned streaming service subscription. They must be SO RELIEVED that they have brave wittle boys like you to defend them and their horrible practices. Good job!
I wouldn’t mind a second season of the acolyte. However, they should bring in new writers and directors to improve the storytelling and pacing of the show. The light saber duels were well choreographed. The character Qimir is This promising. The introduction of Plageuis is welcomed. Unfortunately, the show failed to execute promising ideas.
I love Ryan. I hate when this channel gets political, though. That comment about “two dads” is dumb and unnecessary, and you’re going to continue losing viewers if you keep that up.
Implying that Yoda knew about the Sith and covered it up just to not dirty the Jedi is antithetical to everything he stands for. Given how he places his faith in the Force and follows it so reverently and isn't one to put earthly things above the will of the Force - to allow the Dark Side to rise and to allow the possibility of an existential threat to the Jedi, to the Force itself, simply because it would be bad PR? Nice try, Colton. This is a mindset that mirrors the showrunner and actors for this show who have been trying to convince us that there's "really no good or evil, its all haaazy and mixed"....which is also totally in opposition to what Lucas put in the original trilogy. You wanna know why people hate this show? Because they are trying to fundamentally change Star Wars into something it's not.
I see a big difference between not telling the Senate they didn't see the dark side threat coming after the threat has made itself known, and actively pushing to cover up the dark side before it re-emerges - In the former case it just makes them look weak and complacent. With the theoretical latter case it makes them , and Yoda, look malicious. Downplaying how one let a mistake happen is different than trying to cover up the mistake in the first place, and the context of the situation with Mace has nothing to do with trying to allow the Sith threat to just go ignored.
Lol, like the original trilogy wasn't "all haaazy and mixed." Anakin, who murdered scores of innocent children, followed the Emperor's will and terrorized the galaxy for 20+ years, slaughtered who knows how many people, forced his daughter to watch as her adopted homeworld was destroyed, and "motivated" (tortured) workers on the second Death Star, has good in him and even got to become one with the Force. Or Han being a smuggler (likely of spice) who was going to leave the Rebellion until he was rescued from Jabba. Or Yoda himself who wanted to let Han and Leia die so Luke would continue his training even though the Force was telling Luke to save them. That's what Lucas put in the original trilogy.
you do realize George Lucas also wrote and created the prequels too right? nothing that happened in this show was different from the the original and prequels in terms of story telling and complex ideas. all y'all fake fans need to do some research and actually rewatch intently without scrolling on your phones and missing the point of the movies.

But white incels will not clamor for a "Snyder cut" of a non-white series.
but when taken as a whole instead of episode by episode...doesn't it make more sense? I don't understand, it's like people would stop reading a mystery novel 1/4 of the way through and then say they had sooo many questions...
LITERALLY the video I needed!! Great topic
I'm definitely bummed that a second season of The Acolyte is not happening. Thanks for this video!
I love you little man that lives inside an old tiny tv
How can you screw up so bad with a $200 million budget?
Crazy theory: plaguis and qimir are also a force diad and they're very old, but they've gained the ability to siphon youth from one to the other and currently qimir holds the most youth making his counterpart appear as an ancient ghoul. They're desperate to find a second diad because of they can bring them together, they can be used to understand how to create life but they also plan to siphon their youth allowing them to coexist as young for years to come.
I really loved the series, sad to see it be cancelled. So much hater sheep
Not all haters of the show are racists and sexists. Some of the show was just bad.
"The power of MAAAAAAANNNNYYYY"
A rock facility burning down because of a a burning diary...
It’s ironic that you call people hater sheep just because they don’t agree with your opinion on a show. That sounds like toxic behavior to me
@@blairhoughton7918 Yup yup and yup.
Well this is a bummer they’re not continuing on with this, that Qimir character was fantastic
Brilliant video. Excellent job!
Mae and osha weren't a vergence in the force. The witches used a Vergennes to create them
Good, I'm glad. Wasn't a good group behind the show. I look forward to more Andor, Ahsoka and the Mandalorian though.
There's more emotion displayed in that CGI Yoda than the wee lassie that was the lead in this turd fire of a show.

I enjoyed the Acolyte Disney series. I’m sad to see it’s been canceled. Many of the things you talked about are questions I have for the future of the story. I do hope there’s a show or book that continues the story.
I'm glad it was canceled. It's a below subpar show with horrible writing. The plot is goofy.

1:50 God i love this channel😂
I absolutely hate the idea that Yoda was involved in a cover-up. 😢
Super video though! As always, you make great points.
I wonder when the "Acolyte apologist" shirts will drop...
Why didn't Sol's lightsaber explode in Osha's hand when she activated it with the kyber jutting out of the side of the hilt?
Loved Qimir and Vernestra's tension.
I'm actually happy it's over. The one the many 😂😂😂
glad its done
Osha one of the strongest dark side users? My God 😂
In potential I guess, from her M count
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
And this is why no one takes the fans of this show seriously.
To say she is one of the strongest when she could barely pull objects earlier and only when she did the dumb heel turn on Sol did she pull powers out of her ass suddenly
The shill’s judgment is easily clouded
The entire KK Disney Star Wars is a laughing stock. They still haven't recouped their $4 billion they paid for SW.
I want to see the show you're talking about, these characters are worth it!
Did Colton just say, “If it’s your first Qimir,”?!
Great vid. I wish the show was better written, the fight scenes were spectacular.
Great take 👌
I would like to point out that just because somebody has a hi midichlorian count does not automatically make them very powerful
Would love a new series to answer all of these questions, but I'd be content with a novel or graphic novel. Please give us something!
Who knows!?

I loved this show, I’m so sad we won’t get a season two but would love if some of the storylines weee picked up in another one.
Your ideas are too good. She never would have thought all that
I really enjoyed this show and I've been super bummed out since I heard about no season 2. And "Twin Flame" is staying in my Spotify playlist. Boo Disney. Boo. You have the money to make this show in your couch cushions.
Delusional. Disney isn’t going to waste another $200 million for a show that nobody watched
Id love for them to follow the story in a follow up show called the apprentice and the wise
I think we've seen more than enough of Palpatine.
and the skywalkers...I really enjoyed the world building. Frankly the only legacy characters I want to revisit are the droids and Chewbacca. Gimme Quinlin Voss and Assage Ventress. Gimme a real sith story focus.
Who cares the show was canceled, don't feed into it man. It's so bad let's at least pretend it never happened.
So why would the Force not react when the witch mum created the twins? 🤔🤔
Ah yes another plot hole
Exactly!
React how?
@@nailinthefashion The same way it reacted to Palpatine and Plageius attempting the same thing.
IMO, Qimir either is unaware of Plagueis, or is actually the Master of Plagueis.
they made a play to expand on some major star wars lore involving the sith but then abandoned it and seemingly intent on pretending it never happened. hate that, either wrap it up in one season or commit to the full story
The show wasn’t perfect, it had really bad moments. But I’m still bummed that we won’t get more. The good moments to me, were really good!
GeeZus christ...just flush already. You guys are going to get pink eye. 😂

I’m sure the haters don’t care where it was headed so why complain about the video? Thanks again for the video
I noticed that Colton did not show too much of that power of 1, 2, many B.S.
so bummed, this show had so much potential
Yes, very upset not getting a season 2
tales of the old republic would be fire 🔥🔥
yes, bummed. it wasn't prefect, but most shows aren't in their first season. they could have improved in the 2nd season, the biggest thing is the story had a lot to it. a lot of shows feel like they stretch nothing into a whole show, this felt like they had a good amount of story for each episode
Thank you for this😊
The vast majority doesn’t care that we get any more content from the Acolyte characters.
into exile, i must go.
failed, i have
More like execution instead of exile
They just need to produce James Luceno's Darth Plagueis book in some form at this point.
What if Qimir was a diad created by Plagus and Vernestra found out and fought them killing one and wounding Qimir?
It's not one of the strongest dark side users ever encountered, you literally have darth vader, dooku and palpatine above.
its never confirmed the twins were a dyad, there have been twin jedi before in canon and from the show we learn they were one entity split in two
This video makes me even more sad we won't get a season 2.
I did love the character of qimir he was sick and actually powerful
I’m also bummed that they cancelled the show, I really enjoyed it. Enjoyed Colton’s analysis too, I’m also hoping everything gets tied up in a follow up that named something else and isn’t as toxic as the Acolyte has unnecessarily become because of ‘fans’
Every hobby/industry has toxic fans. Only the ones that produce poor content will complain about them though.
The rest just get on with producing the best content they can.
Disney is THE MOST POWERFUL entertainment giant in the history of the modern world.

Oh, I would love to know what happened to Yord’s Padawan.
Colton your stuck in the store’s tv! Escape while you can!
0:17 so sad 😢I hope they do a spin off like Agatha following wandavision as a kinda S2!
I absolutely loved the series… I give it a 9. Sad that a lot of unintelligent toxic anti-cool fans didn’t get it
I love Ryan. I hate when this channel gets political, though. That comment about “two dads” is dumb and unnecessary, and you’re going to continue losing viewers if you keep that up.
Wouldn’t plageuis know he needed both of them and just take the sisters? And isn’t that all they needed to have eternal life?
Because they are trying to fundamentally change Star Wars into something it's not.
he literally told Mace not to inform the senate that their ability to use the force had diminished for political reasons lol
@@Guerreropowerr That's not the same as hiding the Sith from his own Jedi bro.
