When we lived in Los Angeles, my sister "had" to go to the Stewart's house to deliver some publicity photos & artwork for an ad campaign for a charity that Mrs. Stewart and my sis were involved in and Jimmy answered the front door himself! No maid, no butler.
Everyone loved and respected Jimmy Stewart. The actors today are not people you can respect. His military career alone earned my respect, look it up, the man was truly a hero. I also loved him as an actor, I think he gave his all no matter what he did.
In 1977, on vacation with my family, we stopped on N.Roxbury Dr. Beverly Hills, Ca., to see Jimmy Stewart's & nearby Lucille Ball's house! As I made a U-turn to leave, a new, silver Beetle Convertible came up the street & we almost hit! The driver was Joyce DeWitt of "Three's Co," p.s. In 1999, I went there again & his house & the one next to it, had been torn down! R.I.P.! Jimmy!
I used to enjoy seeing him as a guest on Johnny Carson. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always humble. He was a Brigadier General in the Air Guard after leaving active duty. My husband always admired him and then became a Brigadier General in the Air Guard himself. My dad loved Jimmy Stewart too. He was a WWII B-24 pilot. I think for many military service shapes character. Jimmy Stewart didn’t give up the military. He loved the Air Guard and I’m sure like most pilots he never wanted to stop flying.
His first film appearance was a small part in Indian Love Call made in 1936. He played the wayward brother of Jeanette McDonald who was trying to protect him from the Mounted Policeman, played by Nelson Eddy, who was trying to find and arrest Jimmy. David Niven was originally filmed playing the roll. On opening night, Niven arrived at the theatre for the premiere and when his part in the movie began, he was shocked to see his appearance had been cut and was replaced by Jimmy Stewart.
What a great actor and even greater human being! There just aren’t STARS like that anymore, sadly, although I think Tom Hanks may actually be a “clone”! Today it seems like anybody who has even had a small part in a film in dubbed a “star” - SO SAD!❤
Jimmy…a hero to millions. An ambassador of integrity.
Jimmy Stewart was definitely a Patriot and a HERO of America. I have a deep respect for this man. ❤ ❤ ❤
Always loved Jimmy Stewart!!!!❤

What’s not to love about Jimmy Stewart. My all time favorite actor and American hero. RIP, you are truly missed. 💕❤🥰
His home in Beverly Hills should of been made into a Jimmy Stewart museum. It was too perfect to be torn down.
Talented screen presence
Never knew the chap personally... an idol to millions!
Loved Jimmy Stewart!✌️♥️
Who doesn't LOVE Jimmy Stewart?! One of the ALL-TIME FAVORITES at the Box Office!!!! And his boyhood home doesn't look all that "MODEST" to me!!!!

What a shame
And Jack Benny had lived next door to Lucy, too. He passed on in 74, but I believe Mary, his wife, stayed there until her death in '83.

Very nice video! Why was there a folded American flag on the bed?
His son was killed in Vietnam War.
@@mediumrare9051 Yes, that was the son's casket flag.
What 49 million dollar forever home? Your title doesn’t match the content. Otherwise enjoyable.
Love him what a shame it was destroyed after he died

James Maitland Stewart (May 20, 1908 - July 2, 1997),
Who was the developer that destroyed the house?
The library was claustrophobic! Way too much stuff.
Thanks! It was interesting but it would beso much better without this annoying an stressing backgroundmusic !
I thought after his death the house was knocked down?
They said that in the video.
The back drumming I on this video is terrible!!! So annoying
