The C Max is a great choice for camping. Compared to a Prius it has more interior room, much more horsepower and no fear of expensive inverter failures like many Prius owners are suffering with. Enjoy your ventures.
So sorry to hear your cmax was totaled. I have a 2016 and just love it. I am going to put a fold-up mattress in the rear and do some traveling too. Thanks for the video!
I have a 2016 CMax Energi and I was thinking of going on a sleep-in-car roadtrip. I was wondering how to deal with that height difference between the trunk level and the folded down rear seats. Those plastic drawers are a good idea.
@@Noetik5000 Yes, I used a 3ft x 4ft piece of 1/2 inch plywood and just placed a cardboard box under the front of it to level the plywood then I used a 4" folding foam mattress on top of it. I cut out pieces of reflectix to block the windows and glued black plastic bags to it to make it look more stealthy. Worked pretty well. I was even able to run the A/C all night with the engine only kicking in occasionally to recharge the battery, only a used a few miles worth of gas.
@@Blztrls Awesome looking forward to doing this similar set up. How tall are you btw? I see the guy doing the video is my height 5'11 and said its comfortable I assume.
@@Noetik5000 You can easily fit over 6ft and a reg length mattress in it if you slide the seats forward and tilt the seat backs forward. One plus of the raised rear platform is that the center console is about the same height so you can slide the plywood forward over the center console and use the console to help support the plywood.
I have the 2017 Energi, trying to figure out how to get some sort of mattress in there to sleep, and I wish I could get the AC to run on the high voltage battery for the night, it seems to turn off after 30 minutes, which is very annying.
@@its_lincoln_time Ha, that's funny, I actually made that video after figuring it out, took hours of searching online until someone somewhere mentioned it. Thanks though!
Love the pooch! Sorry to learn u were rear ended 😢 what is your ride now? I am looking at hybrids for my next vehicle, and for a night of camping here and there, looked at Prius too. But consumer affairs reviews will always turn me away from hybrids (stalling, braking failures, inverter goes bad, not including high voltage battery, which I consider a maintenance item.)
Rob Dunfy Hi Rob. Yes, I'm 5'11" and was able to lay flat without being cramped. Everyone was surprised as it doesn't look enough length to the car. I should have made a video of me laying in there, but sadly I was rear ended on the 25th July 2017 and C-MAX was totalled. Hope that info help Happy travels.
Man save your money by a used Honda or Toyota Minnie Van. Better luck with Toyota transmission. I mean I get it, wanting to travel & explore. But makes no sense. I have a “13” SEL Cmax . Perhaps one night at a rest stop. Dude if I’m watching Utube it’s with those that are making sense or creative. They work hard and buy a van remod it themselves. But a Cmax.. is stupid! Anyway wish u best of luck.
I own a 2013 C-Max SE. Got it for 7k. Now thanks to Joe Biden my car is worth 10-12k. Thinking of selling it to buy a van or something. Never got the car to live in, and after a year of driving it can't imagine what life would be like trying to live in it especially WITH my dog.
We have a 2014 C-Max Energi, and we use if for camping. It has been fantastic, especially during the recent huge increase in gas prices.

I am looking to buy this vehicle did you do a set up in it yet to sleep? Let me know that is my main concern.

It looks good! I have a 2007 c max that I'm hoping to convert, you gave me some ideas.
How's your journey going? I'm coming late to your channel, I have a cmax regular hybrid and was thinking about travelling and sleeping in it

this video gives instructions on turning that auto-off feature off so you can run A/C on the battery ruclips.net/video/LHQo8k8K7sA/видео.html

I love my C-Max.. my mentor put over 300k on a Prius and then put 300k miles on his C-Max and said it's the superior vehicle
What about the length in the back? Is it enough to lie down and not feel to scrunched up?

Basically, I agree 100% with you. It is NOT the car to live in.
