One people mumbling to the sky. Another people mumbling to the wall. Another people mumbling to the floor. The world could be a wonderful place if everyone stopped mumbling.
Well said. I might use that, if I may.

Brilliant observations.
You are so correct!😊😂❤
I really like that. Well put and I will use it as well fi that's ok by you, which I am sure it is. Cheers
The sooner we outgrow religion, the better. Damn right.
Hitchens always said it best. He had an amazing ability to to put into words the incoherent thoughts that fly around most people’s heads.
The messiah came two thousand years ago .There was a documentary called " Life of Brian " which covered this.
I also came. Just not 2 thousand years ago, but 2 minutes ago.

Yes, and his words backing George Bush Jnr’s war in Iraq continue to resonate.
But Hitchens words have never and will never resonate anywhere near as long as God’s words through his son Jesus Christ.

How we miss the insight, wisdom and eloquence of Hitchens, especially in times like these
Very very relevant today.
And today
Fast-forward 100 years.
Totally agree with Christopher Hitchens he makes religion sound so ignorant and he's right.
Yes. Hitchens is a hero, a champion, a true human. I love the man.
In spite of his intellectual talents he was a horrible misogynist and thought people who smoked cigarettes should have the right to smoke them wherever they damn well pleased in spite of the rudeness or potential health hazard for asthmatics and others with respiratory issues.
People are damn complicated and no one is worthy of a pedestal. No one.
Hitchens’ words don’t need vapid music.
"It aint' getting smarter out there." - Frank Zappa
I love him, too! And as different they seem at first, they had a lot in common!
Truth and Reality, the magic of Hitchens never fails, taking away the mystery and shedding light on us humans as brothers and sisters. I miss his so
i don't think he would have approved of the term ‘magic’ in this context!
oh, he has some failure takes. Thankfully, a lot of his speech regarding the greater context of things.
Anyone who is a fundamentalist appears to leave their brains at the door of whatever place they worship and does what the man in the dress with the pointy finger says they should do. They can't all be right but they can all be wrong.
Hitchens use of language always cuts to the "essence" of whatever subject he debates; never wavering, fearless in speaking truth, and always attempting to illuminate the fallacies of "magical thinking" and hypocritical rhetoric from political and religious leaders.
Christopher Hitchens was a brilliant human being the world lost a good man
I still miss the Hitch, and do my best to carry on in his footsteps.
As do i m8
And we have his books, too!
Religion is everyone fighting over who has the best IMAGINARY FRIEND 🕌✝️✡️
The really stupid part of it is that they all serve the same god, the Abrahamic god, that’s how truely ridiculous it is. Therefore, how powerful can this god be when he can’t even get his followers to be peaceful and agree with each other?? What a load of crap religion is, it’s not about imaginary deity, it’s about PERSONAL POWER!!!

Christopher Hitchens: "While the banal bit was still going on, the city invited the visiting press hacks for a cocktail reception at the top of an imposing mountain. I was met by immaculate specimens of young American womanhood, holding silver trays and flashing perfect dentition. What would I like? I thought a gin and tonic would meet the case. “Sir, that would be inappropriate.” In what respect? “At this altitude gin would be very much more toxic than at ground level.” In that case, I said, make it a double".

As an atheist I agree with Hitchins regarding religion. However, the larger point is does anyone, with any beliefs, deserve to have a country of their own? Apparently not, according to Hitchins. Do people in the United States not deserve to have their own country based on the Constitution? And what shall we do? Simply let others in who disagree with it, who then elect people who will trash it, as we have done? What difference does it make what you believe, whether religious or secular?
Im not sure what you mean here? Doesnt everyone deserve a place they can call home? On what grounds do you say that?
It's people. What you believe and what you experience is secondary. Those experiences wouldn't exist without you.

_Underfable:_ *The Pious Bacteria*
Once upon a time, two bacteria argued over which one owned the corner of a grain of sand.
One bacterium said, “God gave me this corner of this grain of sand.”
The other bacterium said, “No. God gave _me_ this corner of this grain of sand.”
The first bacterium said, “May God regret your existence.”
The second bacterium said, “No. May God regret _your_ existence.”
An angel flying by overheard this dispute. The angel said to God, “Who owns that corner of that grain of sand?”
And God said, “Bacteria.”
The angel said, “But they’re _both_ bacteria.”
And God said, “Good!”
The angel said, “You praise them, but they do not praise each other.”
And God said, “I am not them.”
*Moral:* _Speak for yourself!_
*Comment:* I, the ironic author of this fable, practice the same God-puppetry that I ridicule. I was moved to write this by witnessing the spectacle of Middle Eastern politics.
Did he say the Americans blocked the Israelis from compromising bc of fundamentalist Christians? That's simply not true. The Israelis by and large (with basically the exception of Ehud Barak) have never been willing to make the concessions for a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders and theyve never recognized the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
Best brain of my generation. He spoke nothing but truth and facts. That offended many because they don't like to hear it. RIP Hitch.
I mean what a sense of loss for this man whom I and hundreds others valued for his truth and integrity. These are the times when these minds are most missed and remembered. The situation in Gaza makes me think of Hitch and a Palestinian by the name of Edward Said.

“ thoughtful and courageous beignets where religion leaves off.” Wow…how profound is that? Can you imagine both Jews and Palestinians all of a sudden saying fuck it…it’s 2023 and there’s no such thing as a supernatural, let’s just figure out a fair boundary and end this.

Perfectly said.
the background music totally DETRACTS from your argument
Not mentioned ( here) is that once youve picked a side your attachment to that sides religion ( or any compatible with it) will deepen. I firmly believe that much of Republicans christianity is performative just as being a christian and a democrat seems to require explanation.
Use our brains a bit more. Yes this means human understanding, kindness and compassion. I'll take that any day over a zealot pointing to words in a book which tell me I must hate someone different than me.

Think of two children fighting over one toy … that’s pretty much it.
I miss this great Man.
One commentator once described the Israeli- Palestinian conflict as two groups of fleas on the rear end of a dog fighting over which group the dog belonged to.
He is actually incorrect. Muslims do not believe God gave it to the muslims per se. The issue of Palestine is not really a religious issue for palestinians or muslims but rather an issue of justice and occupation by, primarily, European jews (at least at its inception and the creation of Zionism, although European ashkenazim jews are the majority in Israel today as well).
I’ve only recently learned it might also have something to do with a potentially untapped $450billion in oil underneath Gaza & its related territories?
Such a wise man......sorely missed!!!

That intentionally targeting civilians is unjustified full stop is probably my primary principle today.
Through that lens, its hard to conjure plausible futures where Hamas continues to exist.
On the same basis, I don't think flattening the Strip with airstrikes is an effective or ethical method of war.
I understand the argument that the IDF wants to soften the area up ahead of ground operations, but for me, area bombing, even with warnings, is intentionally targeting civilians, and minimizing one's own soldier casualties isn't an excuse for doing so.
I also think Israel should've stopped settling the West Bank and put it on the path to independence decades ago.
I doubt the war will spread, but its going to be awful either way.
@@MorphingReality Perfectly put. I agree on all accords. Nothing even to add to that.

Such nice countryside too.
Where's your sources?
I'm not Christopher Hitchens, you can read his book Blaming the Victim which takes the Palestinian case, or watch other longer clips from him.
Source? You can come to the same conclusion just by observation.
Its amazing how something so basic is praised is being praised here as great wisdom here and elsewhere on other videos. People are under a self inflicted delusion of their various idealogies and can't see this simple truth.
"who is more unjust and deluded than the one with a blind eye to the collective punishment and imprisonment and starvation of millions of unarmed Gaza civillians"
How prophetic - and deeply worrying.
I’m trying to get my head around the Israel Palestine conflict.. what would hitch say if he were alive today…
I don't know.
My guess is he would agree with Israel's goal and disagree with the method. Probably would've said the Israelis should have dealt with Hamas a while ago.
Background Music is horrible
The more convenient truth...
All three of the Hebraic religions lay claim to to the city of Jerusalem in one way, shape or form and feel that it is important to see and to understand who is willing to share and who is willing not to share. Jerusalem is the real world crucible upon which cultural clash or cultural accommodate works. While taking the moral high ground has merit in debate, at the end of the day there is no glory nor honor being the righteous dead guy. Well at least not for the dead guy.
I find it quite disheartening that many of the people who claim that tolerance and acceptance are the go to words for the new global path are predominantly being supportive of those who are neither tolerant nor accepting. Is it not comical that we have to deal with the comments of those people who assert and posit that Trump has undone and damaged the ongoing peace talks regarding Israel and Palestine? I have been on this planet for 51+ years and I don't recall a time in which there was not conflict.
A man once said that doing the same thing, under the same conditions and expecting a different result is insanity. So now that the conditions have changed perhaps, just maybe - there will be a different outcome. We will see I guess.
Once again Mr. Reality thank you for your time in making these videos
How have the conditions changed?
@@xXAscendingPhoenixXx
In the multi-faceted world in which live one can obviously answer "YES, NO or MAYBE". For a single soldier with his boots on the ground things can change if the assault is directed away from his foxhole, for the bomber pilot not much has changed as he still drops his bombs and for the code breaker even less as the same sort of messages need to be broken.
Change is inevitable though the impact of that change is based on locality and perspective.
From my reasoning, I don't think it will ever be resolved, however much the will to bring peace. Arabs, Jews & Muslim, fight to the end because of beliefs. Hitchins, intelligence & practical but sorely missed. 😢
What makes this weird between the evangelicals and zionists, or Christians and Jews more broadly, is that they both know the otherw goals and believe they are using the other. There's no doubt that the Zionists know they are being helped by Evangelicals because of their revelation, just so weird.
Brilliant...and missed.
The idea of Israel-Palestine conflict as somehow the bankrupcy of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. As a secular humanist for a moment that idea made me happy. Then it felt bad for feeling happy about this perpetual open wound. I'm sorry for mly feeling. I will now go outside and take a walk and listen to a bird sing.

We cannot contribute to a way forward in solving a conflict by dismissing the fundamental nature of the conflict which is religion. The problem is that these religions, are ignoring or are unaware, of their spiritual evolution. What is their spiritual evolution? Their spiritual evolution is to incorporate veganism into their religion. In the process of transitioning to a higher level of spiritual understanding aggression and anger will diminish. One two part question for people with superstitious religious beliefs.
(A) If someone told you (or you read in a book) that the sun used matches and candles to spread light and heat at night.
Would it be obvious to you, how self evidently illogical, irrational, unreasonable and nonsensical this idea was? (Would you understand why)?
(B) If someone told you (or you read in a book) that something capable of creating a universe and everything in it, used puny humans and books to spread accurate information.

All gods are imaginary. No people = No imagined gods.
Well if there is a God , Please come now!! .. Surely Now! It's time ..
If there is such a thing as a god in the Universe, then it's nothing like what's described in the Bible.
