    I’m ok with the Cubs not selling, but I’m not ok with them buying at the deadline.

    Honestly I think the best case for Jed to keep his job is to present the case that this team needs a mini-rebuild and sell off, not for him to force an all in situation at the full expense of any future the team has.

    The best the Cubs did in recent memory was come back from 5.5 games back before the All-Star break in 2017 to overtake the Brewers and win the division.

    the trade i would make would be for elias diaz and ryan mchanon you get a 286 and 272 hitter and better defensively and mcanon is signed thru 27 . plus it takes some pressure off of amaya or it may light a fire under him thats the trade i make to improve this team for next year

    They were 25-19 on May 16. They were good for 6 weeks, then they were bad for 6 weeks and injuries really aided that. Now they've been good for 2 weeks. Not sure how that makes them a bad team.

    The Cubs shouldn’t trade for players who are rentals. Even if they were to make the playoffs, they’re not going to go too deep so it makes no sense. The Cubs should make trades and make sense and for players who have a couple of years or more of team control where they can keep them.

  • @josephhall657

    Buying Vlad Jr. Would be fine if Jansen is added. Cubs return Morel, Hoerner and a 20-25 ranked prospect.
    This allows Vlad to take over 1B and Busch to go back to his best position of 2B. Suzuki becomes the primary DH and RF goes to Canario until Cody returns.
    After that they have to look at a upgrade to 3B.
    I feel good about Merryweather returning and taking closer back. Then Brown retaking a rotation spot. So that trade works for the Cubs if they have a 2nd deal for a 3B.
    If they want Caissie it would have to expand to include Bischette and he takes over 3B.
    That would be a major deal and we could see Shaw involved.

    I get your expectations, but I think the last couple years have shown that all you need to do is get in to have a chance. Did anybody realistically think that the D-Backs would get to the WS last year? I sure as heck didn't. If the Cubs are at least 3-4 games back at the deadline, then they should trade for a closer at the very least.

      Busch can play third and who’s dhing. You never take a chance to make the playoffs and throw it away. They are the fifth most profitable franchise in all of sports. Is belli going to have a crappy year. Is Swanson going to have a crappy year? Is Suzuki gonna have a disappointing year is happ going to have a disappointing year is Amaya going to hit 190 is morel going to hit 190 with him ? Answers yes and tried everything that’s not nailed down at the answers. No, then go get two bats.

      They want 3-4 top 100 prospects...not worth it for a guy who will need TJ surgery in next 1-2 years

    • @topknoge
      @topknoge 3 месяца назад

      @@TheLearningCatalystCoach Yeah I get your point, but he is a closer. So, the chances of him needing TJ are far less than if he was a starter. Most of the Cubs loses came in the last inning due to the lack of efficiency in the bullpen. So, a good closer would be a great addition to the team. We have the prospects to do the deal, but they need to be smart in with prospect they give away. We need to do something, because the bullpen situation is shaky.

    The only problem with that, is, in the last few years, players that were traded from the Cubs, ended up, either in the Postseason, and or the WS!! And the Cubs, did nothing, or got nothing!!.............As "you!!" know Mick, in my opinion, Ownership is satisfied with the number of butts in the seats, they'll tell you differently but, their actions speak much louder than their words, unfortunately!!🧐😞

    I’m thinking they should trade for Randy Arozarena because Jon Morossi has said that the Rays are willing to trade Arozarena
    Cubs trade
    Christopher Morel
    Pete Crow-Armstrong
    James Triantos
    Matt Mervis
    Drew Gray
    Rays trade
    Randy Arozarena
    And then move Seiya to full time DH

  • @johnlenon8872
    @johnlenon8872 3 месяца назад

    Just stand pat. Today they had the bases juiced twice and scored one run. Then they get 2 on in the 9th and Suzuki comes up. He takes 84 slider down the middle. His batting average when down 0-1? What is it? Seventy? Of course he strikes out. Miles comes up with the bases juiced and the win blowing OUT to LF. Instead of bringing up Wisdom who granted would have whiffed anyway, Miles hits a ground ball to 2nd base clocked at 30 MPH to end the inning. A dumb non aggressive team with a dumb non aggressive manager who STILL has Morel and his .199 average hitting 5th. Truly ignorant. Tauchman on the bench but did come in and go 0 for 2. This team blows.

  • @BigLar56321
    @BigLar56321 3 месяца назад

    This has not been a good Cubs team. Many holes still exist - third, catcher, bullpen, and at least some offense out of shortstop. Also, poor defense overall out of Seiya in right. And Morel is a below par DH. Shake it up and try to improve is what I say. I don’t see them going anywhere by standing pat.

    Mick, this team is terrible. Two weeks ago, I said sell. Hoerner, Happ, And Taillon need to go. Get a catcher and closer. I just watched Steele get shelled. Justin failed last year in the final forty games. He has been terrible this year. He is not a number one. At best a three or better a four. Swanson is an embarrassment. Jed is a joke. Ricketts is interviewed on the game today. No questions on the team performance. The announcers are a joke, just like this team.

  • @firstlast9595

    Vlad is overrated. He's not a superstar, but he is above average. 1 year of arb left, so not a half season rental. Depending on what they give up, I wouldn't mind it.

  • @TheLearningCatalystCoach
    @TheLearningCatalystCoach 3 месяца назад

    Vladdy is a bad investment, both for trade value and long-term.
    2024 Vladdy is nowhere near 2021. He's no longer a power hitter, he's very average/below defensively where you already have a potential rising star, and he's getting older quickly.
    If you're going to invest in a star, make sure it's a star. Vladdy is no longer that.
