      @@MissGoElectric oh, I’m confused because the website specs say mechanical disc brakes

    • @MissGoElectric
      @MissGoElectric  Год назад +2

      You are right. The Sinch has mechanical brakes. We generally prefer hydraulic but we have not encountered a stopping deficiency with our Sinch.
      We do not have experience with Surface604 or their Twist model which competes in this segment. Smaller brands like them with smaller dealer networks may also offer great products. Sinch.2 (the updated version) offers turn signals and comes with fenders and a rack as standard. They've also switched a smoother and more naturally reacting torque sensor with the new Sinch.2. We like those improvements quite a bit. The support and service experience with Aventon having hundreds of physical locations and a longstanding reputation with high volume for replacement parts would overshadow the benefit of hydraulic brakes for us, but we understand that weighting of factors is highly individual.

      We just can't get past the unrefined look of the chunky battery on that Rad Expand 5. We do love the Sinch ST aesthetic from the frame to the paint and the tires. Even the display computer on the Aventon is nice to look at. That said, Rad does make functional electric transportation and we are big fans of any company making products which get folks outside.

    The throttle delay is bound to the delay of the PAS. In my Sheng Mi Lo you can make it more sensitive but I keep it less sensitive just so I can use my cassette's lower gear for creep-stopping during traffic. I don't like to have a sudden jolt when the motor kick's in traffic which forces me to do an instant brake to not hit the one in front of me.

    Been looking at e-bikes with these power features, however, I can’t get past the “no fender, rack and lights include.” That may be the deal breaker. As far I can see, this is the issue for many potential buyers.

    Ah… summers in MI… the years I lived there, my hay fever would be so bad that I could barely breathe: had to wear a mask decades before COVID made its appearance. My wife needs a step-through bike, and she opted for a Specialized. I wish she had gotten one of these Aventons, as it would have cost much less! The problem is that those fat tires wouldn't fit in our bike carrier, but I guess I could fold it up and put it in the trunk instead. The one thing I don't like about it is the staight across handlebar: I much prefer the comfort of curved "granny" bike handlebars.

    Thanks for the review video! Just had some questions regarding the bike:
    1. When you let go of the throttle and re-engaged and took a few seconds to start going again, when does it exactly happen? Does it only happen when you are pedaling and switch to the throttle? or does it do that even if you are only using the throttle?
    2. If you wanted to only use the throttle, do you have to pedal slightly to get the bike going first? or can you throttle from a complete stop without pedaling?

    • @MissGoElectric
      @MissGoElectric  2 года назад +1

      Throttle is independent of the pedals. It is always gradual with this bike though the motor begins receiving power from the throttle instantly.

    • @alex217c
      @alex217c 2 года назад

      @@MissGoElectric Oh ok. So when you pressed the throttle again (around 4:55) the throttle worked right away but it just took a while for it to fully receive the power?

    • @MissGoElectric
      @MissGoElectric  2 года назад +3

      @@alex217c the throttle always works and it responds immediately, but not forcefully. Acceleration is gradual with this bike, but there is no "delay" between throttle and some power going to the motor.

    Thanks for the great review! I realized something watching this that seems to be more of an e-bike topic than this bike in particular. I was trying to imagine holding the thumb throttle for 20 miles… man that thumb could get numb or hurt! I wonder what other solution they could come up with for people that can’t/choose not to pedal? What an amazing 4,000-acre park with bike paths and trails. I left Michigan nearly 50 years ago - now I'm a *little* jealous. I'm getting closer to purchasing a pedal-assist bike, but think I'd be more comfortable with a better-known brand with an extensive history of quality products - like Specialized or Trek (or Euro brands). I'm also leaning toward a mid-motor and low-maintenance internal gear hub and belt drive. Yeah, everything has a price...

      Trek and those other brands which are made in the same facility are great bikes. We like the Allant+ LowStep.
      Does a Trek deliver enough to a casual rider to justify the much higher price? That might have more to do with personal economics and brand prestige than utility.
