Prince wrote this song at 18-19 years old, it was a demo. He wrote i feel for you for a female artist Patrice Rushen. She turned them both down. Rushen did go on to have a hit of her own "forget me nots."This is why the songs sound like they could be sung by women. I feel for you was cover by multiple female artist a few years after Prince did the songs himself. She missed out. R&b still had a bluesy feel to it at the time. The young Prince set the tone for the future of R&B.
One main thing I loved about Prince is that he can be himself, and he gave no F***s what people said or thought about him. We miss you man.

That's funny because I remember watching this as a youngster (7) when it first came out in1979. He really left an impression on me his look his singing and the way he carried himself. He pretty much slipped out of the picture for me until I saw him one night with the "Little Red Corvette" video. I was like oh I remember that guy. Three albums later I rediscovered him having no idea he was still around....no surprise though "Dirty Mind" and "Controversy" were not kid friendly

Prince has so many rap type bars its absolutely fascinating to me. I'm only 31 but my Dad played a ton of Prince and recently passed so I've been digging up memories. I always liked Prince but now I'm starting to see how hes probably one of the best artists to ever exist.
