    The 2015 version (to me) is so forgetful. I’m not against remakes at all, but this and Van Sant’s PSYCHO feel unnecessary.

    Steven Spilberg was suppose to direct poltergeist was to busy with e.t. the movie is debatle who directed. What's crazy is when making the movie the actors asked Spielberg advice instead of hooper.

    Poltergeist II is worthy of recognition because of Julian Beck as Kane for being super creepy, he elevates it beyond shitty sequel. God is in his holy temple...

    The 1982 version of the movie named POLTERGEIST is definitely the winner but the original POLTERGEIST is impossible to beat because it's that damn good. So the winner is 1982 POLTERGEIST.

    I think with the clown, its that clowns seem to be overdone and we are desensitized to them now. Back when the original came out, even when you saw it first, there weren't a LOT of things with clowns that were mainstream. We had IT and this came out before the tv version of IT so it was scary. This is a child's toy, a toy that I know I had a similar looking thing in my bedroom. You saw it everywhere in the 80s and to have that attack that way...that's scary. Now we see it all the time. Clowns are everywhere. Twisty, Art, Pennywise, etc. It isn't scary and we KNEW this scare was coming. Had they given us the clown and we expected it to be the clown the whole time, only to have it end up being a doll or something else in the room that had barely been shown, it would've been a little better. Perhaps a sweet looking stuffed animal or something. The problem with remakes is that they try to replicate these iconic scenes and they fail. I can't be scared a second time by the same thing. You need to make it different.

      Okay yes absolutely 100% this. I hadn’t really considered that clowns weren’t a mainstream scare tactic back then.

So Much Was Done Right About That Movie But As Far As I'm Concerned About That Remake... Burn It Deep In Hell Fire😂🔥What Does It Exist?.... I Don't Know.

    Hi, I remember requesting a video on this saga. Now, I am not saying you' ve done it because you are humoring me; I thank you for this video.
    Due to the lack of high tech ( in movies in general) , they managed to provide us with some flawless horror cult...a diverse approach on phantoms' presence in houses: the agressive kind , Poltergeist.

    2)Poltergeist III
    1)Poltergeist

    My order would be the order they were made.
    The 3rd movie’s use of mirrors freaked me out as a 10 year old. My parents owned a dance studio so we had 6 huge mirrors. They were hard to avoid but I did my best!
    I liked how the 2nd movie explained the back story of the first. Apocalyptic Cult run by Kane trapped in a cave under the future Cueste Verde neighborhood.
    The original is by far one of my favorite movies. I grew up with it. As an adult with a 5 year old, I see it through the mother’s perspective. Actress Jo Beth did an amazing job! And that final night when the shit hits the fan, the mother went through SO much! All by herself rolling around on the ceiling, going in the skeleton pool then running into the house and saving them. Then running all over the house carrying her children while coffins were popping up everywhere. WAY better than the remake!

    I think the point of remakes is so we can see it with the technology we have today. I wish remakes were exactly the same but with better acting and better effects. The older movies are pretty bad because of the effects in my opinion, cause they usually just make me laugh

    I’m so happy that I got to see the original Poltergeist at an AMC, in 2020, for the first time. Unfortunately, I saw the remake in the theater as well. The only thing I liked about the remake was the dimension Carol Anne went to with the creepy dead. Also, Jared Harris (Carringan Burke) is the son of Richard Harris (Dumbledore #1)

    Poltergeist III made me angry because Heather O'Rourke wrapped all her scenes but they cut her final scene and reshot the ending after she died with an obvious body-double. Pretty disrespectful to the late young actress.

    Great video as always. Love the content. Gonna piss alot of people off here but Poltergeist is not a film I like. The fact that Amblin Entertainment and Spielberg produced the film, to me hurts the horror aspect of it. That's why I welcomed a remake more focused on that but the remake has alot of issues. Horrible writing being the main. Back to the original, Amblin and the feel of the movie just hurts it. Plus it's clear this is a Spielberg directed film. Sorry Toby but this film does not have your stamp on it. I wish it did. Probably would have been more horror in it. Mabey the score just ruins it for me. Way too much family Entertainment vibes. The film just isn't scary. I can't knock it from a technical aspect, cause its all done well. I just think the tone is off, and it's not scary at all. It feels like every other Amblin Entertainment film. The only one I like is Gremlins btw.

    • @HauntedHippie
      @HauntedHippie  2 года назад +2

      Not all horror needs to be scary

    • @jasonvoorhees310
      @jasonvoorhees310 2 года назад +1

      @@HauntedHippie yes, that's why I brought up Gremlins. "Poltergeist" from the title alone im expecting a Scary violent Spirit. That's what a Poltergeist is. Plus they hired Toby Hooper to direct. I just feel like Spielberg put too much of his touch on it. Horror has been a weakness of his imo. I feel no tension in his 2 "Horror" films Jaws and Poltergeist. There great films. But I would not classify them as Horror. To me Schindler's List was the closest Spielberg got to Horror. Cause the subject matter was real Horror. Now I'm not saying every Horror film needs to be like that, not at all. I just feel that Poltergeist was the wrong title for the film and they shouldn't of hired Toby Hooper if their intent was a more family friendly Horror experience. Cause those 2 things scream the exact opposite to me. That's all I'm say. I see why people would love this film, especially if you grew up on it. Not hating.✌

    Steven Spielberg didn’t have a heavy hand in this movie. He was on set once and helped with one scene. Him being very involved was a rumor started by a journalist who was on set the same day as Spielberg. This would spoil Toby Hooper and Spielberg’s friendship because it wasn’t addressed until years later. This is Toby Hooper’s movie. I think I got this information from one of the Joe Bob specials I believe. Just throwing that out there because Toby Hooper deserves full credit.
