Nice one, it'll be a sweet ride once it's finished. You mentioned using a Haltech on it, I'm looking at fitting up a Haltech sprint500 to my standard 1fz to clean the tune up and get some economy out of it, do you think is the way to go ?
A442f’s can be hard to find, when mine died behind the 1hd in my 60, and I looked for another I put posts up on the 80’s & 100’s fb pages to get bites. In the end I learnt about the different cable/electric model the hard way and had to get a compushift as well. From what I found out there’s still later 80’s that have electronic actuated setup. Good luck dudes, suck build!
Hey lads I own a 560 whp turbo 1fz 80 and still run the H151f manual box and only recently broke 3 gear and the box had 400,000 on it. The H series box is the same as the v8 79 series diesel and they handed heaps of torque.
@@BoostGumps yeah so the H151f is the “turbo box” and 1fz are the strongest. Vdj79 is the same apart from input shaft. Pretty cheap at about $3500 full rebuild
Are you sure? Electronically controlled shift pressure? We have built a few that are electronically controlled shift points but not pressure. Im interested to know, could save us a lot of trouble!
@@BoostGumps All 80's to 1996 are cable operated pressure valve. They may be electronic/pwm control on the 96 update, as I haven't played with them. Also, ATI do a T400 to 1FZ kit, that allows use of a 4L80E and a standard 4L80E TC for about US$2k. IMO, 4L80E's have a garbage 1st gear ratio, but shift like an auto should. A442's have a reasonable 1st gear ratio, but shift like a worn out school bus. I'll be watching with interest, to see this super duper A442 you're going with.
Well just the crank is over $4000…. So I would be guessing towards 10x that incl full forged internal rebuild, big turbo on custom manifold, new built box and transfer all on custom mounts and wires in etc.
Been keen for this build!🤟🏻
Try all Four x Four at Minden( other side of Ippy) or D&W Wreckers at Archerfield (behind bunnings)
Good to see you back on to 105 Max and Rex. You'll get there. 😂💯🇦🇺😭
What lift and tires is it
What’s the rough price on a setup like this?
Definitely do the PDM and keypad. Another cool build
There's no such thing as going too far. 😁

Sent SMS with one for $1300ish nearby to you, but it doesn't have a transfer case. Hopefully it's a solution for you bro. 😎👍
a few v8 LC100 wreaking in newcastle-sydney area they came with the full electronic auto is post 98 model
Good luck with your box hunting!

Try Gilroys Automatics, he did a stage 3 A340 for our 1000hp supra.
Ross Piston Australia.
Have forged pistons & H rods.
H Beam rods.
They dont have pistons on shelf. They are a made to order item and take a few weeks.
i believe its the a442f you are looking for

That's interesting, our H series box in our 80 series didnt even like the N/A SBC we had in front of it. Ill do some more looking into them!

Any a442 from an 80 series built past 1992 is fully electronic unlike the
Pre 92 ones

@@BoostGumps Just a tip, the fzj105 that are auto also come with the a442f (I only know because I have one) so add that to your scope of search incase
Anyone know how much this build would end up costing roughly by the end?
All of the dollars 💸
My bank account knows 😂

is there a part 3
Not yet. Only just got the rotating assembly back from the machine shop. We will be recommencing this build early 2023 🥳
@@BoostGumps part 3 on its way?
@@jp4rks very soon I’ve been putting the engine together 👌
@@BoostGumps lovely!
You might be better off sourcing a better lower kilometer A442 from Japan . You have the time.
Stroking a 1FZ 4.5L to 4.8L he could've got a TB48 and stroked it to 5.2L 🤫 there's no replacement for displacement lol
Hey mate get in contact with Hayden/David from HD automotive in Brisbane they specialise in Toyotas they may be able to source you’s one
