      Unfortunately advice will, for the most part, just be advice. The "good guy with a gun" idealism (which is spouted by self proclaimed realists), will win, even though that will never happen because this isn't the fucking Wild West, and for those of you who claim that you're keeping yourself and bystanders safe with a gun, fuck off, you're not special.

    I really admire Trevor Noah. He uses his platform to say the truth, knowing its going to be unpopular with a large chunk of American society, but knowing that each person who is brought to their senses is a step in the right direction

  • @jerrodplummer6850
    @jerrodplummer6850 8 лет назад +571

    Like it or not, Noah makes sense. He provides a rational and sympathetic response, but partisan America does not seem to accept any sort of change. Sales of assault rifles used in the Sandy Hook and Orlando shootings skyrocketed out of popularity and fear that they might be banned. It seems a sympathetic human being would be repulsed by a rifle with that power and history, but some people are certainly not getting that message.

    • @jnick1909
      @jnick1909 8 лет назад

      I'm repulsed that the guy committed the terrible act. Why would you be any more repulsed by an Ar than by handguns ? Such as the hand guns used in VT? Hand guns are used far more often but where is the discussion of the hand gun ban ? Oh wait! You like hand guns 🙄

    • @jerrodplummer6850
      @jerrodplummer6850 8 лет назад +9

      Why are you assuming I like hand guns? It's more concerning that people are against banning assault rifles when they were created specifically for killing people. Just because I didn't say anything about handguns doesn't mean I think civilians should carry or own them. You don't have to read into anything I say. It's easy enough to ask.

      I'm not going to throw away my rights just because someone broke the law. Believe it or not, not just anybody can buy a firearm. You have to have a STATE ISSUED ID and if you have any violent criminal charges, including domestic violence, then you cannot purchase it, no matter where you go you will be told the same thing

    • @unitedgamers361
      @unitedgamers361 8 лет назад +7

      does this state id also include mental health or personal connections with criminal, religious or political extremist groups or group members? criminal record doesn't mean anything. i might not have committed a crime in the past but since i am a suicide bomber or i m in a suicide mission that is completely irrelevant. lets examine what we know:
      -America has at least one mass shooting per day for the last year (mass shooting being 3 or more individuals getting shoot),
      - Americas mass shooting are caused by you guessed it GUNS, because mass stabbings just doesn't have the same ring to it
      -American mass shootings are caused by 1- mentally unstable people 2- criminals 3- extremism/terrorism. you have covered one how do you expect to deal with the others
      -The government is offering a way to deal with these 2 other problems and the general answer is "you ain't takin ma guns"
      i don't think you guys are really thinking this through has well has you should be, just like the British didn't think brexit through. but hey i am just a kid, what do i know about the world i will inherit from an older generation that is "supposed" to leave it better than they found it?

    • @jnick1909
      @jnick1909 8 лет назад +2

    • @shannonulmen9252
      @shannonulmen9252 8 лет назад +5

      It doesn't matter where he's from, the problem is he lacks star power. John Oliver is foreign, but has the public recognition and trust to go after the powerful. Trevor Noah is new and less known, meaning if he goes against his bosses' narrative he gets fired.
      I liked his standup, which is why it's so disappointing to see the box the new Daily Show has restricted him to.

    • @Jukantos
      @Jukantos 8 лет назад +1

      i still think he gets to say what he wants on the show though. Considering his past, do you believe he would ever agree to push an agenda or topic points he wouldn't agree with? i think funnily enough BECAUSE he's a comedian he'd have the integrity to say no to that and leave.

Also explain why the tech revolution just happened now, within the three centuries of the existence of what everyone seems to want to call the most backward first world country in history. And tell me why South Africa isn't the world's greatest superpower. And don't say colonialism - America was a colony too.

      Hey Drake I'm glad you're biased, and so am I. Proudly so. When innocent school children get gunned down in the safety of their classroom, not while visiting some 3rd world dictatorship, I'm all for being biased. When you make people afraid to go to church or a movie theater, I say give bias a chance. Being unbiased has led to 16 mass shootings in under 8 years. Being unbiased isn't working. All the countries with the highest murder rates, are the ones where guns are easily accessible. If it's biased to see the correlation, HOORAY for the biased people because apparently they're the only ones who have functioning brain cells.

      You never heard of terrorist using bombs? Or airplanes? Honestly at least a gunman can be stopped. Once they set a bomb off thats it. You cant stop it. All those people die before 911 is even called. Guns aren't the problem. The people that stopped the attack used guns to do it. This country was founded with firearms, its protected by firearms. The most elite people in the country have armed guards. So my life is less valuable then theirs? People are killed by knifes. Should we ban them all? My point is very large numbers of people are killed by technology every day. Cars, cellphones, food, ect. ect. ect. ect. ect. We can't ban everything. More people die from falling out of bed then they do from "assault rifles"

    • @brotherbreeze8351
      @brotherbreeze8351 7 лет назад +1

      Mitchey S Maybe look up the word "hypocritical" before you try using it in a sentence. I suggest a library - you can check out a textbook on elementary logic and reasoning. You will learn about what a "syllogism" is. You will discover that just because I made an assertion without "back"ing it "up" is neither an example of being a hypocrite, nor is it logical to infer that I do not have facts to "back up" the assertion.
      It simply means that all I have offered is an opinion on the video.
      ADFninesix commited a logical fallacy when he created an off-topic issue (my rights, their importance, and their supposed "cost") out of thin air and attributes it to me. This is what is known as a "strawman argument" - an often-used tool by emotionally driven liberals, though its use is by no means solely their purview.

      From what I've observed as an American, it is one or more of these reasons:
      1. You're someone who grew up with guns and you're afraid of change.
      2. You're a politician and the NRA is paying you to spread their propaganda and keep the gun business alive.
      3. You have what I call "Zimmerman syndrome", meaning you believe your neighborhood is a lot more dangerous than it actually is, and see guns as the only logical way to defend yourself from perceived threats that don't really exist.
      4. You have the delusion of grandeur that in the event of a mass shooting, you will acquire SWAT team skills and shoot the killer without harming yourself or others.
      5. You are too ignorant to understand the circular logic of "we need guns in this country to protect ourselves from other people with guns".

    For those that said the 2nd Amendment can't be infringe, they need to use some common sense. First of all, most anti gun people and organizations doesn't want to ban gun totally, they just want to make it harder for potential killer from obtaining gun. Second of all, when the Founding Fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment, in their mind they are thinking about musket, ain't no way in hell was they thinking about weapons that can gunned down dozens of people in seconds.

      Also, when the constitution was written woman couldn't own property and black people were consider property.
      The constitution was designed to grow and change with the country. The question we need to ask is "Does the 2nd amendment do more to help us or hurt us now and in the future ?" Sadly that won't happen in my lifetime.

    • @gingergamergirl98
      @gingergamergirl98 8 лет назад +20

      +GBAConnecticut Also, amendment means a change. The Founding Fathers weren't gods, and the Constitution isn't their holy text. They'd actually probably be unhappy that some things on the Constitution are the same more than 2 centuries later.

    • @Rebornblader
      @Rebornblader 8 лет назад +5

      The Founding Fathers wrote:
      "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
      They didn't use guns there on purpose. They said that the right of the people to keep and bear ARMS shall not be infringed. Yes, back then, the arms of the day were muskets, but as time evolved, so too did the definition for "arms." I know the term "semi-automatic weapon" is a scary word that the media wants you to believe in, but do you know what that means? Semi-automatic means that you pull the trigger once and one bullet is fired. Semi-automatic weapons encompass most modern pistols, but no, the government wants you to believe that it's a Call of Duty-esque killing machine. The people who are pro Second Amendment know this, and that's why they are so passionate about it.

    I fully respect and believe in the 2nd. I own two pistols. But, I also think that there should be a much harsher filter for gun sales. No felonies, no involuntary commitment to a mental institution, no permanently damaging drugs in the system violations, a psych evaluation and a few more. I've been to gun shows, and think that the whole 'buy a gun and walk out with it without showing a thing except for money' thing is horrible. Yes, the second amendment should always stay in place, but things also need to change about the people who can buy those guns who shouldn't.

      @thisguydwight 8 лет назад +1

      +Spoo o -Well, if we're gonna go that route, then ok. Firstly, I never said "ban guns". No idea how you even got that idea. Hell, I think if you're a super upstanding citizen with no criminal record (save for a few minor vehicles violations and such minor things) you should be able to purchase a fully automatic. Secondly, the well regulated militia clause is for the 'people'. Now this could be interpreted in multiple ways. What would you consider 'the people'? I consider 'the people' to be good law abiding citizens. I wouldn't want the mentally ill, felons, radical violent factions and so on owning any firearm whatsoever. In my eyes, they are less than people. That would be detrimental to good and responsible people's fundamental right for the pursuit of happiness (along with life and well being also), which is the entire point of The Bill Of Rights.

    It is not only guns, only religion, only mental "health". It´s a bit of all of them and each of them for specific reasons. It is like three people describing a colorful picture but each of them can only see one color: "Its blue!" - "No, it´s yellow you moron" - "Both wrong. It´s actually only brown". If they knew, that each of them can only see one color when it comes to this picture, they can figure out that there must be yellow, blue and brown parts in it and then they can create a desciption that actually fits.

    I'm fine with guns if they're used safely. However, anything that's similar to what the military uses doesn't need to be in the hands of civilians. Anything that can fire several shots in a short amount of time doesn't need to be in the hands of civilians. Pistols, handguns, hunting rifles, and similar things are fine. Again, if used responsibly.
    Many of the mass shooters have had little to no gun training. The only reason they're able to kill and hurt so many people is because they can just point the gun at a crowd, hold the trigger, and move the gun around slightly. It's just spray and pray, but because there's so many people, it's actually fairly effective. Banning the guns themselves, making them harder to acquire, or even just limiting magazine capacity is all that needs to be done.

      Pistols are actually used most often during mass shootings and shootings in general as they are concealable. You don't "hold the trigger, and move the gun around slightly" as the civilian legal AR-15 isn't fully automatic. If you ban them and standard capacity magazines tomorrow, the millions of them already in circulation will still be available through the grandfather clause, albeit more expensive.

    I burnt my NRA card and sold my guns after this shooting. The only way we as a nation can overcome our enemies is with peace, not through war.

      Why should they?Terrorist love the NRA. Just do 1 shoot out, people get scared and buy more gun and by next week you hear 3 toddler accidentally shoot their parent.

      They wouldn't get two kills deep... A big reason so many people died in this situation was that it was a 'no gun zone' and nobody there was armed.

    • @burtonl7239
      @burtonl7239 8 лет назад +4

      LOL. Because the shooter will get more holes in him than a sponge. And on the flipside, it would give credence to the NRA agenda, which is more people should have guns if only to deter other shooters.

    Trevor's show is not only a simple comedy show, it's a medium where a great guy who knows exactly what to talk. People often ask how can he be so intelligent despite his very young age, well i might have an answer for that:
    "All his words he says comes deep from his heart, he is a guy who has faced a lot of trouble in his own native country, he was not born with a silver spoon or went to reputed universities like the rich kids, he has been to a lot of trouble before he reach this level. Overall he speaks one language, TRUTH". My best host ever.

    It wasn't a religious attack it was about somebody who had hated and denied his sexuality so much that he went to a club and killed 50+ people and wounded so many others. It wasn't about religion it's about somebody who was created based on societal values of homosexuality. And the fact he was abusive to people including his wife

    • @EnduroNerd
      @EnduroNerd 8 лет назад +2

      If only it was harder for someone like that to get a gun. But lets try fight radicalism, social environments and other shit we have no way to control of and instead of just implementing some control on who can and cant have a gun. If you are a citizen of sound mind, have shown you can handle a gun in a legal way, there is no reason you can not have a gun. They are not trying to take guns out of the hands of responsible people, they are trying to stop the fucking idiots giving all the gun carriers a bad name. When will this ever fucking register with you retards?

      Wasn't about religion? Are you nuts, that's probably the main reason he DENIED to accept his sexuality cause in Islamic culture homosexuality is punishable with the death penalty

    This was a fantastic segment, and the final sentence was sobering. People criticized the President for not seeming upset enough, and after the last speech, people got mad because he cried. Wake up, People. You are kidding yourselves if you think this isn't going to happen again, and again, and again. And, don't forget, the kid who shop up a church wasn't a radical Islamist. Well done, Mr. Noah.
