My favorite part of the remake is how much the Ishimura feels like 1 ship instead of multiple separate sections divided by tram loading screens and chapters like the original was
has a similar feeling to the station in Prey now
that was one of their goals from the outset, taking advantage of the storage capabilities of modern hardware to do away with loading screens, even the minimum specs require an SSD on PC.

I always like that about dead space is that you weren’t some overbloated space marine that just had to use tools because you didn’t have access to regular weapons. It’s way more immersive as an engineer using what he knows, the tools of his trade.

Holy crap, that moment at 6:26 where the necromorph was silhouetted and its eyes were glowing as it stumbled toward you... the atmosphere in this remake looks so awesome

Im someone who never got to play deadspace when I was younger just due to me being too scared and a little too young. This remake gave me the chance to finally play it and man do I absolutely love it. If you’re someone who has never played deadspace and you’re questioning the price tag I would go for it. It feels like a full price worthy modern day game. Now if you’re someone who already played the og maybe it’s a little different then. But for first timers and people who think they might be interested and aren’t certain I have absolutely nothing but GOOD things to say about the game. It’s just a lot of fun to play and immerse yourself

We need an original not “made for the modern audience” BS remake of God of War 1-3 for next gen and steam. The new ones didn’t hit the gore and brutality of the OG games and playing GOW 3 felt so good after Ragnarok. The new GOW feels like they played it way too safe for the new “modern audience” and eliminated a lot of blood and guts, didn’t bother to change the finishers from the 2018 GoW and was kinda disappointed. We need GOW 1-3 remake I’d love it but idk nowadays it’s be too problematic for the p*ssies and stupid game journalists on Twitter.
Thankfully Japan does a pretty damn good job I can’t wait for RE4!

I really do appreciate this channel and how accurate the takes on games are here. It's as if I previewed the game myself. Since I've been coming to this channel, I've never been let down. I'm sure I've saved quite a bit of money as well. I can't say it enough, thanks for all you guys do.

The zero-g sections in the original damn near game me motion sickness at times. So glad to see they fixed that with the jetpack and 360 degree movement. Also, I heard the gawdawful turret sections have been revamped to be...not so gawdawful. I'll bet Falcon is over the moon with that change. Many a gameranx top 10 list mentioned that section and never in a positive way.
The nostalgia is on an all time high, LOVED this game when it first came out
Played it for a few hours last night with lights off and headphones on. Really fun and immersive game. Can't get over the constant whispering. The sound design is perfect. The music picks when enemies are near

This is a perfect start to the series. If you have an Xbox with Gamepass then you'll be able to play 2 and 3 afterwards. When I finish the remake I'm gonna replay 2 and 3.
Prepare for the best horror experience ever
This is the first game I've genuinely looked forward to release in a LONG time and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
How could it go any other way though - I mean it's a remake. For all intents and purposes - they just remade the game. I just wish they had remade it - but created a new map. This is exactly the same map from the original. Even enemy placements are the same. Yes I get it - it's a remake but remakes don't have to be carbon copies. This is - a carbon copy so anyone that played the original will find a hollow empty feeling while playing.
@@Weird-City Nah… it has different cutscenes and enemies show up at different places like where their ship gets destroyed. I don‘t remember that part.

@@YukyDoodle I think as a first timer you should get it. I wish I hadn't played the original now. You will love it. I'm just saying that for people that loved the original (and played the hell out of it) - maybe wait for a price drop (or buy play and sell). But for a first-timer - you should jump stright in. Don't let the Callisto saga put you off - this IS a solid game and worth every penny to a first timer.

I love the effort and passion the team have for recreating this masterpiece. Was so fucking good in 2008 and nothings changed. While I have massive respect to the developers for really putting their best foot forward in looking to the fans for support in the production of it, I just can’t help but have a sense of disdain for the the publisher, EA, for not knowing the potential of this series and recognizing the talent of the former visceral studios. The fact that they made this beloved franchise, just for EA to acquire them and force what they thought was the next innovation of the industry into developers that did not intend to incorporate what the publisher was demanding (Ex. BioWare with anthem, fallout 76, any open world game by Ubisoft, etc.) just to end up completely liquidating the company as well as lay off the team that is the reason for their success in making this remake today. I’m excited to see where these remakes go but so fucking sad to think about what could have been if EA gave the same considerion to visceral as they do for the current publishers of the remake
I couldn’t agree more. Visceral did a fantastic job and it’s my favorite survival horror game to date, even more-so than Resident Evil 2. After all of those years telling my friends about it they finally get to experience it for themselves.

I have so many good memories playing the first 2 games. I feel like remaking the second game is a must now. Those two games are solid and at times the second game could really use remastered graphics

I stay with reviewers that give honest reviews and they were giving awesome reviews saying Josh the actor did a awesome job playing his char in the game. Loved this series since all the way back in 2009 (played after initial game launched) and even watched one of the animated movies. My copy of remake comes in today can't wait to dig in this weekend. Awesome review Jake 👍

I've finished dead space 1&2 years ago 5/6 times. I was waiting on the reviews and bought the deluxe edition right away after I saved enough. It's totally worth the price for even a dead space veteran. I'm so happy that Dead space is getting the love and treatment it so much deserves.
Oddly enough, my buddy introduced me to 2 in like 2012 or 13 so I started with it. When I played the original a year or 2 later I never even finished it so I'm pretty excited to play this version essentially for the first time.
The video was encouraging, and the comments are too. I played the original a year or two after it came out, but I got busy with life and never finished it. I think I'll have to get this. The graphics should be great on my PS5. Thank you Jake! I love your reviews, they are my go to for deciding what games I want to buy!
Was rooting for Callisto to be more successful and well made. As good as this surprisingly turned out, can’t help to feel it’s a bad sign that we’re only going to see dozens more of remakes coming at this point.

There’s nothing wrong with remakes though as long as they are done right and faithfully recreated. Remember you aren’t under any pressure to buy them. They are for new players or just for older fans. Would I say no to a Bloodborne remake? Or MGS1? Or Dino Crisis? Etc etc… hell no, but ONLY if it’s done right of course!
It has been very funny seeing the same thing: Motive nailed it. People had low expectations for this, and high for Callisto. Everything I've seen so far, the inverse has happened.
It makes sense for people to have low expectations with EA but it sounds like they nailed it.
Doesn't make any sense to have low expectations for one of the best games of the time, as a minimum it would be the same as that game with some better graphics, which means at a minimum it would be fantastic. People are so illogical.

I had high expectations for the remake and it looks like it paid off.
Because the trend is to hate EA, however I have been playing EA games since the old MS-DOS computers in early 90s I cannot hate them.
That "Hello" in the intro! lmao. 😂 I never played the OG Dead Space ( I was in high school and took a long hiatus from gaming), but I remember seeing it when it released, and reminded me of Event Horizon, an underrated horror film by my standards.
This game always has a special place in my heart. It was when my brother and I were both done with university and were living together. It was a fun year and a half as we would go shop for second hand games often. The original dead space was one we picked up from the bargain bin and didn't really have high expectations. We went in completely oblivious and just loved the game as soon as we played through the first few minutes. I'm glad they came out with a remake of the original and updated it. Looks like more fond memories to be made with this new/old game!
I played through the original Dead Space and only vaguely remember specific story/gameplay details, but I remember being really impressed with it at the time and having a blast dismembering and curb stomping aliens. Personally, I'm most likely going to wait for the remake to go on sale before I pick it up, but if this is going to be your first Dead Space experience I could see it being worth the launch price. Great game.

My initial introduction into dead space was the anime that released forever ago, not long after played the first game and was blown away. I was disappointed with how it initially ended so hopefully there’s a redemption arc for the series as a whole down the line
It's gotten to the point where if I'm interested in getting a game, I'll check to see if there's a Before You Buy or if SkillUp has covered it. Thanks for being reliable, consistent and honest for all these years, guys!

Dead Space 2 doesn't need a remake imo, that game holds up remarkably well. I notice that DS1 remake's many changes include things that DS2 already has. 360 movement in zero Gs, Isaac Clarke having a face and voice, more cinematic, better combat.
It'll probably be remade anyway though...
Remember watching my late oldest brother playing this game. Been a blast playing the remake and seeing what's old and what's new.

15 years later, I’m still excited about dead space. I’m a diehard fan and I ended up getting the marker tattooed on my arm. It’s amazing that they remade it but they remade it so well that if anybody who’s never played that space plays it, it’s going to be a fun first ride and a smooth first ride at that.

Curious as to why you guys used a 2080 for the footage. I was wondering why the footage seemed to stutter randomly and textures would suddenly load in.

@@whydoihavesubs6644 Awesome. The remake is very, very good. They added things, and changed certain things as well and it makes it way better than the original. I finished it so now I'm currently playing the second one. I highly recommend getting the remake.
In New game+ there are 12 marker artifacts, 1 for every chapter I believe, and if you collect them all you can get the secret ending, so once I'm done with 2 and 3 I'm gonna go back and find them.
Looking forward to picking this up day 1. Dead Space was one of my all time favorite games, so I'm glad to hear they did the remake justice.
Side note: the walking animation on the guy on the right 7:20 gave me a solid laugh.

Dead Space was the first game I played after my family got and HDTV and it was mind-blowing. Cool to see that this remake does the same thing, and recalibrate some of the gameplay and level design. It is an amazing game, but some sections were super unimaginative and clunky.

I'm a fiend for Dead Space. Mastered all of them on the hardest difficulties and this one is looking to take the crown of difficulty to satisfaction express. It's like going on your favorite trails and a new owner comes in and adds some of their own flair to the beaten path. Something old is something new again.
I just bought it and started it, having never tried the originals. I love it! It plays like Resident Evil but on "easy" mode. Not easy as in difficulty but just with less time consuming puzzles. Its great.
I actually just finished the trilogy last month only, but I am freaking excited for this remake. And with all the good news it's definitely going on my wish list. Going to be waiting for a sale, however,
I truly hope Motive remakes number 2 and then creates a 3rd one.
If this does well then its most likely.
It would be even better if they actually continued the story by making a 4th.
We’re gonna see ALOT of remakes in the next 5 years. They’re trying to capture the magic from gaming back in the day. It’s hard for newer IPs to do it but I’m excited 🤝🏽

@Worst Case Scenario It hasn't passed, it's just moved to VR. VR is the future. Even just playing modded flatscreen games in VR is such a game changer.
HUGE fan of the series, play thru it almost yearly. have taken off school and or work for every title in the series, including today for the remake. Crazy I was still in high school when the first one came out, but reading about it in Game Informer quite a while before it came out is one of the reasons i got a 360

Of all the games that are gonna be coming out soon, this was easily the one I was most hyped for. I'm so glad they nailed it! The Callisto Protocol & Forspoken launches had me worried as it seems like no AAA company is competent enough to push out a working game anymore...

I can say Dead space is probably the first remake I’ve played where they kept veteran gamers in mind. I loved how the game toys with you, especially if you played the original. Like everything is in place but some small things aren’t and it always catches you off guard. Definitely the best remake of a game I’ve ever played.

I'm curious which weapon sounds you didn't like in the remake. I personally found all the weapons I used to have extremely satisfying audio, especially in headphones (and speaking of weapons, I am sad that they changed the Pulse Rifle's secondary fire... the old one was so amazing)

I was going in being extremely critical. Dead space OG is on my top 5. This game did an amazing job. I was 100% sold in like 30 minutes. The force gun thooooo
After hearing the good feedback for this I’d be interested in seeing them remake 2. Hopefully they can make that last corridor before the final boss fight feel more manageable. I freaking hated having to deal with that invincible terminator necromorph. Was easily the worst part of 2 which was a masterpiece prior to that section but I literally considered quitting several times during that section.
Same, DS2 is my favorite game and the invencible necromorphs are just not a good addition to the game(s)

I really appreciate this return to traditional survival horror in gaming.The return of Silent Hill and more Resident Evil makes me very happy. I hope we see more additions to Dead Space in the future

I just hope Konami doesn't fuck up the remake of Silent Hill 2. Much like how everyone was concerned about EA messing up the Dead Space remake, Konami doesn't have much better a track record
@@jormilos konami's doesn't even have a good track record in general at this point EA can release a game once in awhile that's at the very least playable I don't even remember the last game Konami made wasn't a slot machine or metal gear survive
@@knucklessammich3875 yeah, all Konami has really released these past like, 4 years, have been collections of old games (castlevania, contra, and some srcade titles), there's a yugioh title, and a remaster/remake collection of some of the old Ninja turtle games that I think people actually liked.
@@knucklessammich3875 Konami some time ago actually was looking for studios to help them develop new games of their classic franchises. The new Silent Hill is being developed by an outside studio, not Konami themselves. There's hope.

One thing I've noticed between this and the original is that in the original, Isaac was unable to look to his right. It was probably just a bug or something, but I always saw it as subtle foreshadowing towards the ending of the game. That's not present in the remake, sadly leaning into it just being a bug or something

This is a review I can appreciate - you did an amazing review- I played all the dead space games - the first dead space is one of my favorite games of all time - I was excited for this remake and just started playing it today and I had a blast so far. Can’t wait to get back on and enjoy it some more. Do I want them to do a remake of the other dead space games? No I would love to see them make a second dead space but not a remake - I want them to make dead space 2 like it should of been made and give us something new and twisted. Thanks for the review
