What an amazing acceleration by Lafay. He also managed to hang on to the very end.
fabian cancellara style...no higher praise :) cadence was awesome
Yeah! Nice motordoping
@@raikku3198 which race which k ? You realize he podiumed 11 straight monuments. World tt champ 4olympic twice. It's easy to mumble a phrase repeated by boonen fans for decade. Give me something specific...short on facts heavy on fantasy. He skipped juniors way before remco pedaled a bike. He was always strongest.
Come on people where is the comments about how good these first 2 days have been.... just amazing
Corker of a TDF start, even without TT or prologue
🧨 The start to this year’s TdF has been amazing!
So happy for Cofidis
Their team does not have it right now. No outstanding climber, no sprinter, no cobble specialist and no puncheur who can beat the opponents on the last climb. They really have to watch out.
Im so happy for them and their bikes. Look frames are exquisite.
@@nicolas2838Lafay was in the mix on stage 1 also, so now he has the taste from todays slamming win.
guillaume martin was in for top 10 two years ago and simon geschke nearly missed out on the polka dot jersey last year by a few points. i d say the problem is more with the organizers that there are very few stages for pure sprinters or break away riders. So naturally a team of the second row that doesnt have a world class specialist for sprints or tt misses out on stages.
This TDF is already so exciting
Exciting
Excitable
It is now,so much high quality talent.
Pog sprinting against WVA.. this guy 🤣🤣
Great to see Bernal make that final lead group, hope we can see more of him towards the front after what he’s been through.
That was a wattage bazooka if ever there was one.
I saw a wattage flame thrower. It kept right on burning after the initial blast. Perfectly timed power!
Two excellent stages so far! Super happy for Lafay, great move bro. I love how Pogacar wanted to stay on the gas after the last climb but Vingegaard wouldn't go with him. I get why Vingegaard wouldn't participate but really dig how Pagacar just wants to race the whole time. It'll probably cost him the win again but I admire the mans desire to hang it all out all the time.
It is very entertaining, but I wonder if it is smart ? If it costs him the TDF again this year, then I think I will have to put it in the stupid category.
The Pog will pay for his over enthusiasm. Ving is conserving every bit of energy for the TT and mountains. He's a much better climber than Pog.
@@amritpatil5556 Ving was looking for support from WvA but found none, as WvA was conserving his energy for the sprint.
Brilliant win. Well done
I don't like the new dark colour of the Green Jersey. That makes it difficult to spot in the Peloton. It almost looks like the Bora-Hansgrohe jersey.
Love the Tour😁😁😁
Cool, what a great race guys
That rain will be good to put out all of those riot fires! 🔥 😂😂😂
Pogacar looking strong.
Pog
Congratulations, Lafay!
Epic day - watched it live - epic finale - congrats !!
When Skjelmose had been reeled in, Lafaye attacked imidiately from behind.
Very clever!
Jumbo hesitated a bit too long.
Attacking 101
50-75m to late. But then no one’s going to pull for WVA.
They stared and lagged when someone attacked too early. Took them awhile to process what is happening.
@scpython1Guess yes. Would say you dont want to risk a crash of Vingegaard for supporting Wout van Aert to Win an Etappe. Wout has one rider which supports him thats it. Likely a tactical decision. Not the best situation for Wout.
@scpython1 Because Jumbo has made it perfectly clear that they're riding for the GC and even Wout has made it clear that he's not riding for the green. Today UAE spent a lot of energy and effort in getting a handfuld of seconds. Jumbo wants them to fight this hard for every second so that Vingegaard can go for minutes later on. UAE is playing right into Jumbo's hands...
Great coverage ...cheers! 😀
That was a great stage, with a great finish. Was beautiful 🎉
I'm calling Mattias Skjelmose to be the dark horse of the race.
Dark horse: a person who keeps their interests and ideas secret, especially someone who has a surprising ability or skill.
Like what?
he has nice smile for a gift horse
That isn’t what dark horse means, though.
It would great if another rider could emerge this year to really scare the expected top two. MS is the one, I agree.
This Tour is already way more fun and exciting than the Giro was
agreed. I was so hyped for these opening stages especially in beautiful basque country and it delivered on all fronts. except richie and mas DNF that sucked big time.
for a change...
@american.psycho1147........your sobriquet is totally appropriate. The Giro is by far a better 'Grand Tour' than the Tour De France. Clearly you are an 'armchair spectator' and have never actually been to either race.
Terbaik lah Poggy
I find great value in Carlton Kirby’s commentary and would say he is a legend in the business.
Apart from his shitty over pronunciation of European places and riders. He's a total try-hard.
This is Rob Hatch, not Carlton Kirby. I like them both.
Skjelmose is a promising rider
Wow that last acceleration was awesome
Great stuff, far more exciting and interesting stage than usual at the Tour Grand Départ.
Absolutely insane that this was a 50 point finish though. In what world could anyone have expected the sprinters to fight for the win?
The best highlights on RUclips
Very happy the see a Look ridden to victory
Commentary were horrible from GCN commentators, we get it, you do not agree that UAE should lead and should not try to win any race. There was about 3 hours of continuous, disrespectful and critical commentary of the tactics employed. I enjoyed the excitement of their racing as always. I am so glad for Cofidis... brilliant... glad for the French... such excitement!
Find the Australian feed, best commentary around
GCN has UK bias...their coverage of Sky was fawningly sweet.
It's at least better than the US coverage...which is still Lance Armstrong's old buddies...
only care about ineos,tbh
Let's do away with ITT prologue and begin the tour like this from now on
I don't understand why all the GCN commentators are so perplexed by UAE pushing to control the stage. They understand that they can't drop Vingo in the mountains, so they have to steal all of the bonus seconds (mt. top & finish) that they can. Being in front of Vingo is critical to their success. If they fall behind in week 2, they will have little to no options for making up time.
Their plan b consists of Yates being close enough in GC so that UAE can one - two Vingo if they need to.
Always wanted that green jersey...but this year it's not as green...but I'd still wear it, I suppose. 😉
Lafay l'a fait ! Victory for victor😊
Win, clever Tactical 👮 break to win stage 2 . . . . . . . "What a smart ride !!!"
Vingegaard is staying true to his tactis of not burning any matches which is fine for GC contender but i think he has made big mistake today for not pulling for WVA in last meters (neither Kelderman but he was cooked).WVA will be bitter about it and will not pull for him as he did last year on that cobbled stage where he basically saved Tour for Vingegaard.
True, Wout saved his ass last year at Roubaix stage. Wout is a team player unlike vingegard
Wout's a team players, he knows that the GC is the primary goal and he exists to support his leader.
WVA can win races all year round. Only one race matters for Vingegaard: Le Tour
Jumbo's tactics is that Vingegaard shouldn't risk anything and burn any strength if that's not related to the final win in the Tour
@@TarsoBsAs Exactly. Vingergaard is the leader and his victory is all that matters. If Wout can get wins on top of that, great. Otherwise, it's all about that Yellow Jersey.
If the tour ends with Vingergaard in the Yellow Jersey and Wout with no wins, THAT is still considered victory and a good result.
Jumbo will get it straightened out within the team. WVA will win a couple of stages before it is over - and he will fully support Vingo when the time comes.
I didnt expect that jumbo visma will going to make a move as early as stage 5…
Its the tour is heating up already
Why don't you add the total m climb at the end while presenting the next stage?
Nueva mente los favoritos dejando todo antes de tiempo y otra vez no gana etapa
These guys mean business than it was in Giro
Go Neilsen Powless 🇺🇸🔴⚪️
Letsshoooooooo
Last attack is amazig 😂
Wow pogacar is back.
Hope cav does it
I can see WVA leaving Jumbo as soon as he can to get away from GC duties. It's only a question of budget for another team.
Team salary caps !
Except you can’t watch all the pedal strokes on GCN in America only highlights from yesterday. Sad
Best young rider, hahahaha
What is happening with jumbo visma
How can you be in your 4th TDF and still be in consideration for the White Jersey? The rules should be amended to highlight up and coming talent, not someone who's already a multiple tour winner.
It's for those who are 25 and under. The fact that he is already one of the best doesn't mean he isn't still a youngster in the sport.
I agree. With SO MANY youngsters in the pro peloton, there should be some modification of the youth category - maybe only the youngest 27 riders in the race ?
@@arandombard1197 You’re missing my point. Try rereading my comment.
@@markdwelchforcongress4456 How about the Gray Jersey for the best rider over 35?
@@wtywatoad I didn't miss your point, I'm just saying that the two aren't mutually exclusive.
What does he say at 1:50? Neilson Powless continuing to add points [what?] for the king of the mountains.
I think he accidentally combines the words "first" and "search". "Neilson Powless continuing to add points to his search of more for his first king of the mountains".
@@Alistair_Spence That's possible. Thank you.
"Neilson Powless continuing to add points to his push - odd more - for the king of the mountains". Whatever that means
"in his search for more king of the mountains" He got the words 'search' and 'for' mixed up.
"Could Powless win the stage? Resounding No"... This was said with 35km to go. Please stop the spoilers
What is the name of this lector? He is absolutely great!
Lector? Do you mean Commentator?
Robin Hatch, the ponce can speak a few languages & really does his very best to let everyone knów & show off like the school nerd 9yr old.
He is very much disliked in UK, as are most of British commentators on UK Eurosport GCN discovery+ WBo whatever the fken are now.
@@johnd1466I like him - for all his annoying pronunciations he is very knowledgeable. I like Carlton Kirby too!
Who took the red number?
Ton francais n'est pas mal du tout.Mes felicitations
Pog isn't playin around. 4 seconds wouldn't be enough to beat Vingegaard, but 11sec might
No. This makes Pog seem desperate and insecure, like he needs all these random seconds.
@@Sajidov3 1- Jonas fought for that "random" seconds too (but couldn't win). 2- Maybe you only watch TdF in Paris-Nice 2023 (3 months ago) Pogi collected all the seconds arounds even if HE DESTROYED VINGEGAARD in the stages. It's his style, he is a predator, he wants all that he can take.
@@mondociaociao Pogacar knows he can only beat Vingegaard by winning bonus seconds. Vingegaard will drop him in the real mountains.
@@HolgerDanske874 come on, vingegaar dropped tadej ONLY ONE TIME, with the help of his entire team. In the rest of direct challenges (Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico), ALWAYS won Tadej.
@@mondociaociao Mount Ventoux, Col du Granon and Hautacam? Vingegaard is just better in the high mountains. It's not even up for discussion.
Vingegaard is very selfish: in the LAST km he didn't give to Van Aert a minimum support. He is soooooo obsessed with Tadej, and it's ok, but Tadej was there! why he didn't support van aert in the last km? very selfish.
He was so selfish he actually gifted Wout last year's TT win. So selfish he didn't ride with Pogacar so Wout had a chance to win the stage.... So selfish! Or maybe Wout should do work for the team's GC leader.
@@HolgerDanske874he gave him win? 😂 i saw him almost crash and then he finished rest of the TT as coward as always
15 Years spell broken for Cofidis🇫🇷
Vive Lafay
Whats wrong with Van der Poel ? Anyone knows if he’s sick or something?
Same question here
The climbs these last two days are not suited for him
Not his parcours. To hard for him.

at 1:30 you comment the sprint - saying it was a battle royal -
But which outcome you never mentioned -

Salty pogacar
"There was a battle royale for the points at the intermediate sprint".......and silence.......nobody knows who won, yeah whateva.
Getting sick of Vingegaard not even pulling for a minute to help Wout win the stage... 😡
Getting sick of a TDF winner who can’t attack or go with Pogi because he’s teamate wants to win… really hope Wout wins soon so Jonas can concentrate on winning the tour.
That's what worked for him last year..maybe it will this year too..But it is very boring/annoying to watch and won't gain him much fans..that's for sure
@@NosyNorseman He did not pull yesterday either so it is not just about Wout, in my view, he is petrified of riding with Pog, he knows he will get dropped all the time.
@@nizamali4378 Dropped? No he will loose sprint thats it… and both of two first stages was planned for wout. Do not think Jonas will be aggressive before real mountains
This is about winning the GC, anything else is below it. Stop crying and blaming Jonas for not doing something that would A) be stupid and B) Not his job.
Awesome race and Cofidis rider win but why must this commentator pronounce Jonas surname like that, hes speaking English not Danish.
Adam Yates or Simon Yates. This guy is so confused
Jonas is quite boring honestly...boy scared to take turns on Poga lol 😂 😂
Still appalling spoiler style commentary
If VINI loose TdF it’s because of WvA.
WvA lost yesterday because of VINI! Selfish rider.
Why is the Danish name "Vingegaard" pronounce as if it was French?
but... winning
I hope those terrorists disturbing France at the moment, do not interfere with the Tour.
You guys do great work, but every time you pronounce it UELTA i die inside from gringe
Come on a guy in his career has only won 2 races yet sprints away from guys going 35mph and not even gasping for air smiling like he been on a 2 hr recovery training ride immediately after the race.
Is the armstrong and prearmstrong era back again? Hope not!!!
What is up with all the masks?
Again, what would it take for these commentators to pronounce the words: Michael Woods. The french video is much better, once again...
Why are there so many masks?
covid is still a thing
Um. . . . Global Contagion!?

Bad result for Baristas. They hate Team Coffee Dis
My prediction for who will win the entire tour, I think the French political protestors will win this years tour.
Simon seem to look bitter at the start line...
Jonas is the weakest TdF winner ive seen so far lmao.
Always love seeing a lone rider beating the ‘radio boys’ and their boring 200 metre sprints…
So are all the bikes running disk brakes now?
So, um, almost 5 yrs now.
Becoming my favorite aspect of watching TdF - the moments when these random others play spoilers.
The GC competition… you may see just a few moves over 3 weeks, where there’s some riveting action, and the yellow jersey is decided.
Let’s see which next other seizes the moment to let us know he’s HIM! 🫡
