      How he had judged to have won the sprint when he clearly deviated off his own sprint line to take the racing line of the circuit. He should have left a bike width to his right as he crossed the finish.
      The argument would have been that he didn't leave the same gap between himself, Van Aerts and the right side at the start of his sprint to the line. Still no point Van Aerts risking it on the 3rd day with another possible Sprint opportunity for day 4.

    Watching the replies of the final sprint, still waiting for the outcome , gotta say, listening to GCN and guests on eurosport the benefit of actual sprinters explaining.. something the judges don't listen to.. he did not push the other rider. They cycled relative to the course in a straight line..hopefully he keeps his 1st place

      Yeah, they deliberated for a full 20 minutes. They better stick to their ruling because they had more than enough time to relegate him, of they wanted to.

    All these "experts" sitting on their couch, casting blame on riders like they have even the slightest clue what it's like to partake in what is surely extreme chaos. People assuming every error or minor lapse in judgement is some ill-intentioned, purposeful act meant to harm others. The barriers were set up like trash, it wasn't a straightforward run-in, and mass sprints are always going to be hectic at the best of times. They're putting out world class watts at ungodly speeds and everyone in the comments acting like it should be a perfectly clean and simplistic affair with no movement whatsoever. It's just racing, it's always going to be crazy. Wout literally threw a bottle onto the ground and into the wheels of all the riders behind him yesterday... who the f*ck is he to be getting sympathy about "safety" less than 24hrs later? I don't care about Wouts bottle throw but find the level of hypocrisy and bias in the comments section hilarious.

    Nothing there… unfortunately every time the brits get involved in sport competitions they like to introduce so many rules, regulations, and red tapes… it is a sad truth. The only saving grace for cycling is that the major races are not in UK so they still retain a level of romantic unpredictable nature.. some in the Uk even propose sprint lanes. You do not need to add much to it…

    Wrong decision from UCI again, such a dangerous sprint end

    • @SatrnOne
      @SatrnOne Год назад

      It was dangerous because the UCI dictates that they need to sprint in a straight line, but then allow finishes that include a curve in the last 100 meters.

  • @yvesrosenbaum7718
    @yvesrosenbaum7718 Год назад

    I don't understand this stubbornness of the race organizers to generally want to make sprint finishes with a curve less than 300m or even 200m from the line. It's dangerous and in addition it boils down to a war of placement to whoever will approach the curve first.

    The barriers jutted out so made it look worse than it was..bad barrier design so close to the finish. Blame the organisers for that one I think. Ps..if you have ever rode a bike you tend to not openly leave gaps for riders to pass you
