    I’m loving the way every negative comment I get on this relates to my age! Like, being in my 40s means I’m not allowed an opinion of it? Is that your only comeback? Brilliant, I stand corrected.

    • @JustinHawkinsRidesAgain

      Another cool one is talking about my potted history of drug abuse, like that means I forfeit the right to a musical opinion.
      Tellingly, nobody can actually tell me I’m wrong, they just make an unpleasant remark about my life and tell me to listen to other sections of the BMTH catalogue.
      I’m reacting to this song in its own right, and looking for positives.
      Sorry if that offends, dismiss me on whatever grounds you like. Most importantly, like and subscribe.
      Cheers

      @@JustinHawkinsRidesAgain My favorite rock story...that time Lemmy was in a bar and ABBA was playing and some run of the mill edgelord walked up to him, trying to score credibility points, and said, "can you believe they're playing that shit in here?"
      Lemmy looked at him and asked, "how many number 1 hits have you written?"
      People who have no confidence in themselves, or are unable to defend their position articulately, often resort to casting aspersions and/or lobbing personal attacks bombs. Consider the source. Are they Novello songwriting award winners? No. Are you?
      Hope you feel better soon.
      This channel brings me great pleasure.

    I saw Bring Me The Horizon support Machine Head many years ago. The crowd pelted them with beers throughout their set. They calmly collected all the pint jars so that by the end of their set, their was small wall of empty pints across the stage. They only time they gave the crowd shit was when Oli announced their last song, 'This is called 'I'm supporting your favourite band and you never fucking will'.

      Your take on Pop and Rock music being very often blurred intrigues me. As such, I was wondering whether you would consider analysing the Arctic Monkeys latest album (or perhaps just a single track)? I, and it should be noted that I am in no way a musician, cannot decipher what type of music it is, or whether it fits a single/cluster of genre(s). I thought that this may lend itself to your style of analysis.
      Merry Xmas.

    Hey man I’m a fan of BMTH but I appreciated your breakdown. Honestly I wouldn’t have recommended this song for someone that’s sceptical of the band, it’s fun but one of the somewhat weaker songs of their more recent music.
    Perhaps parasite eve, kingslayer, or dear diary would have been better options. It’s hard to typify their sound even when using just one album however.

They're a really important metal band and do a lot to bridge the gap between metal/rock and mainstream radio. They've been ahead of their time with so many albums. They don’t seem to be following trends, but taking risks, both with their label and fan base, and it’s paying off so far. It’s so rare to see a band these days be given the freedom to do that but they have earnt it.

    I think a band that is able to pull off multiple genres will almost always be more impressive than a band that never changes. If BMTH was only sempiternal or only thats the spirit, i dont think i wouldve been a very big fan. I love songs from all their albums almost, amo and the schizzo name one are not my favorites with the latter not having a single good song but i still respect the attempts and variety. I really dislike when people say that BMTH isnt metal, even if you wouldnt classify them as hardcore metal or whatever, they would still fall under the genre metal, its a definition not a feeling.
    I think bands that make the music they want to will always be infinitely better than bands that dont and its not like BMTH has abandoned their fan base, Theyve changed but a good amount of their music is still what you would expect from them as a long time fan. I love the mixes of genres, i dont hear it as a weird clash, i hear it as them using a new tool they discovered to better transition between for example a verse and a chorus. If you listen to music for the sound of it and try to drop the elitism, a lot of experimental music starts to make sense, you dont need to like it for that reason but you can still appreciate it.

BMTH haven't been deathcore since the early days with Count Your Blessings and were pivotal in the scene for sure, especially for me and my mates cause we're from the same area so they're hometown heroes. Their later album Sempiternal is probably one of the best Metalcore albums ever made but I really don't like the new stuff because it's all fake edge now. As a proud Sheffield lass there's no need for me to name all the successful band's that have come out of Steel City, but there is one Sheffield band that really demands the world's attention, and that is The Everly Pregnant Brothers. With song's like Pile Cream, Chip Pan, No Oven No pie, and Stuck in The Lidl With You. Genius. If these Bring Me The Horizon lads are metal, well they sound a bit rusty to me, and need a much sharper edge.

    I can see how one can pick this song apart quite easily, it's not a song with a lot of depth but I think BMTH has many songs with a lot of depth so I would recommend a different song with more layers to it like can you feel my heart, parasite eve, doomed or follow you.

    I really enjoy your videos. I don't know how to ask this without it sounding like an accusation or something but are you hearing these songs for the first time via your phone's speaker? If so, do you feel that you're getting an accurate picture of the way the song was meant to sound? Again, no judgment or condemnation or whatever but your songs sound very different coming out of a phone speaker compared to even a middling pair of headphones. When I finally got a decent set of headphones, I listened to songs that in the past I was lukewarm about and I had many moments where I said to myself, "Ohhh... oh *now* I get it. I see what's really going on here." Cheers sir!

    • @Alpha_7227
      @Alpha_7227 2 года назад +1

      Damn good point you raise as often I may shazam a song and feel, no this is not for me however if I go home and listen on my computer or pair it to one of my speakers then BOOM!! I instantly like it. Then through headphones it's a trip as different parts oscilate from ear to ear.

    • @counterfeitclone
      @counterfeitclone 2 года назад +3

      Most people can tell whether a song is for them without headphones or through decent speakers. Decent sound just makes it better. I myself can tell if its a song i will like by listening to the first 10seconds then skip a song midway through and listen to a further 5 seconds on my phone.

    Kingslayer is the only song of theirs to really grab me since "Drown" since the Sempiternal record. i really love when they go heavy heavy, gross gross with the sound/vocals. For example, the "get the fuck up, shut the fuck up, etc" pre-chrouses in Kingslayer or just like, the entire song of House of Wolves or Empire (Let them Sing). that's really when their music grips me. His vocal fry is seriously cool sometimes, but i need all aspects of the band hitting for me to like it

      I love BMTH although I was recently told to stop listening to them because my family and I are religious and my dad heard Dear Diary, in Pizza Hut 😶 DiE4u is honestly my favorite from them except maybe for Teardrops. I don't count it as POP because the content is too dark, there IS screaming...it's just a fun little alternative tune. It's just not normal BMTH

      VERY clearly not their worst song but alright lmao. What about their whole music to sleep to… album? I’d listen to DiE4U over and over again rather than that album. Amo wasn’t terrible either but there was a couple songs on there I’d listen to less than DiE4U too. I mean I agree it’s not what I’d like to hear from them ideally but it’s not bad. I’d rather have anything from the CYB era to TTS or even Post-Human but they could be making much worse songs than this one.

    BMTH feels a bit like an outlet for some specific dark feelings; I resonate with a lot of the lyrics at times. Perhaps not so much Die4U, which is more of a pop bop, but their song "1x1" hit me like a brick lyrically. Incidentally, I do love the guitar solo in Die4U; simple, melodic, very fitting.
