I think it's for commercial reasons? With his nose surgery, his voice is crazy nasaly now and on these deeper songs it's insanely noticeable, and photograph is like biggest song after how you remind me.... but they don't use playback for that one, so idk then No doubt his nose job jacked up his singing tho
im not a fan of nickelback, dont like em at all really, but i like this lower tuned version. and his vocals sound a bit more... whats the word.. gruff i guess lol. i guess a little age can make something better eh?

Its not the only song, they also use playback for Burn It To The Ground (except for Rock In Rip 2013 and maybe a few other times)
