Have you ever asked any of the following questions? How to become a dog groomer? How to groom a dog at home? How to clean dog's ears? How to cut dog's nails? How to cut black dog nails? or any other question relating to grooming a dog, then this is the RUclips channel for you!
Each video is unedited footage of a day to day home based dog grooming business.
Being a dog groomer for 15 years, I have seen a lot of dogs and learned a variety of techniques of how to groom any dog WITHOUT restraints!
These videos are for people interested in grooming their own dogs from home, wanting to learn how to start their own dog grooming business, owners who are looking for solutions on various health issues with their dog and of course most importantly for my dog owners to see how their dog does while being groomed.
In addition to grooming techniques, I will be posting videos of health concerns or warning signs of possible health concerns to watch out for with any solutions I have learnt over the years.
I also plan to share unique characteristics that I come across while grooming as some are pretty unique and very interesting!
I am always interested in making any videos that people would like to see, so please feel free to send me suggestions and I'd be happy to post a video when I am able to do so.
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video.

You never point the scissors upward to the dogs eyes. NEVER.❤
I've been grooming for over 16+ years and never had an issue. Of course, when I first started, I was much slower and now it looks crazy scary. 🐶🐾
Accidents may happen at anytime, be careful… always
@@k9clipz-doggroomingtips7422Although you may be skilled, because this is a tutorial, it's better to teach/show best practices. No one wants a dog to get hurt.
@@sheilalopinto8172yes because we should listen to you, someone who has no experience lmao
You are correct….i never do that with scissors…..Also she never uses restraints……but she holds the fur under the chin which I know is done by many groomers…..this can be uncomfortable for the dog…….my dog certainly would not appreciate this. I don’t uses restraints either.
I’m so sorry to comment this on your video, but for anyone watching please do not take this video as a how to instructional video, everything being done here is wrong. I’m usually very open to everyone’s techniques but not only is this chaotic and going to give you very choppy lines but it’s dangerous for the dog.
Also you can never trust an unrestrained dog during grooming. This method could lead to injury. Sorry just my opinion.
Seriously didn’t even comb the hair over the eyes forward. Been grooming for 6 years and cringed at the scissors pointing towards the eyes I always point them downwards
Im a groomer too, and I agree with this comment 💯
❣️
I’ve never seen a groomer point the scissors at the eyes like that before! 😲
That dog seemed nervous shaking and everything
Oh gosh I’m new to the grooming game but even I could see all the no nos here.
He is shivering
Yes, he is! Many dogs are nervous when getting groomed. 🐶🐾
Dangerous trimming. I would never take my dog to you.
Good heavens no. Too risky
🐾🐶
That is scary..that scissor looks very dangerous.. I wouldn't take my dog there
💯💯💯
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.
Same it gave me anxiety
Been searching on how they trim by the eyes my niece has a yorkie chichi mix i tryed sum small scissors but he was looking at them so hard I thought he was gonna freak out, after watching your video i decided his hair is jus fine😂
Best of luck to the nxt pup he will be up against a formidable foe, who wields Thor’s scissors
👍🐾🐶
A. Holding the dog is a restraint. B. Some restraint is necessary to keep the dog safely on the table. C. A grooming loop, used properly, is like wearing a seatbelt in your car; it protects the dog from falling off if it gets loose from your hand restraint.
I was so concerned for his eye 😮
Yes, I think the same thing when I watch my videos! It is a lot scarier watching on the video than seeing it up close and personal. 🐾🐶
Have you ever poked one in the eye? I hold my baby's hair between my fingers to protect his eyes as if he was a human!
Thankfully I have not! By having my other hand at their jaw line I am able to gage if and when they might move so I can pull the scissors back accordingly. This dog was well behaved but I also have more videos on my channel where they are not so well behaved! Thanks for watching and for your comment. 🐶🐾
Same
That baby is so frightened
Yes not uncommon for a dog not to be excited to see a groomer! They generally are a bit nervous but do well so they can get home to their owners!
@K9 Clipz - Dog Grooming tips I'm a 30 yr groomer and shop owner don't go there with that reply!
❤️🐶🐾
I would be nervous 😓 too with a pair of scissors near my eyes
I don't know how you handle a nippy dog. Especially little breeds.
If I saw you trim my Havanese like that, with the scissors flying Willy nilly around his eyes and just randomly snipping hair, it would be the last time you’d be trimming my Havanese. I’d pull him right out from under you. This is why I bought a grooming table and scissors with *rounded* points to trim him myself. Can’t trust anyone 🤦♀️
By holding his head she can gauge when the dog is going to move and can accommodate her scissors accordingly and never hurt them. Restraining a dog can cause the dog to move violently and choke out. I’ll pick Lisa’s way every time.
Thanks Darcey!
I totally agree with you and that is why my dog has terrible haircut cuz I do it myself because the groomers are all nice to your dog when you drop them off and this is what they do behind closed doors. At least she wasn't a complete jerk to the dog like a lot of them are on here. And I'm only here not to be a jerk I'm here trying to find a way to learn some new things to make it easier for my dog. But I guess this ain't it
My havanese also had horrible experiences at the dog groomer and always came back terrified and with a choppy bad hair cut so I just decided it would be better for him if I learned how to do it.
The dog looks so scared
Nobody gonna talk about How much hes shaking?
No hate
i am just worried about that poor puppy 😰
And sry that i said he
Most dogs do not enjoy coming to being groomed and will shake. I do not just choose dogs to video that are happy because that's not how it really is. I want to show everyone how dogs really act when they are being groomed. When they are in the grooming table they are nervous, but once they are done they are very happy go lucky dogs! 🐾🐶
Please do not use the pointed scissors on the eyes area. The way you show to the world is so risky.
I've used these same scissors since I started grooming dogs 16 years ago. It's what I felt most comfortable using. Everyone has to find what they are most comfortable with. Thanks for watching and for commenting 🐶 🐾
Im a pet groomer for me that is not a proper way.
Yes, everyone has their own style. You have to find what you are most comfortable with. After 16 years of grooming, this is what I am most comfortable with. I don't use any restraints and can groom a dog in less than an hour! Happy grooming! 🐾🐶
You need to slow down and if you really have to go that fast, file down those point points on the scissors!!!! You’re gonna chop that dogs eyes 👀 out!!!!
Ok.. why we are looking?! 😂😂
I’am not a dog groomer so idk. But I think you did great!!❤️✨
Thanks! 🐶🐾
Those are drapery scissors not close to the face scissors! Poor Oakley he looks so scared! Great cutting job though.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment 🐾
each to their own but this is risky 😮
I have always used scissors on the face even when I first started over 16 years ago....just gotten a bit faster as the years went by!
Amen 😢
This is why dog grooming needs to be regulated. Never should an answer to a safety concern be: I’ve been doing it this way for 16 years. Then you have been very blessed for 16 years. Doesn’t make it acceptable or right to do it. It only takes one time.
To each their own but that visor and face is overall incredibly choppy.
This is not the finished look. It's just a one minute short video at the beginning of my grooming of this dog. Full videos with the finished look are on my channel. 🐶🐾
this is why YOU NEED A LOOP! PLEASE DONT DO THIS, NEVER EVER POINT SCISSORS TO YOUR DOGS EYES
OMG! Seriously that person is very unprofessional!!!!
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.
Holy shit woman ..
Lol
Look at this poor dog, he/ she is shaking and who cares if you are not holding the dog in restraints the dog is scared to death and you are bringing the scissors to her/his eyes so close and yanking on the hair while trimming. I would not use your tip or let you trim my dogs hair!!
By holding his head she can gauge when the dog is going to move and can accommodate her scissors accordingly and never hurt them. Restraining a dog can cause the dog to move violently and choke out. I’ll pick Lisa’s way every time.
Thanks Darcey I appreciate your support and kind words 🐶🐾❤️
You do realize there are dogs that shake because they're just scared to get haircuts or they're scared around people that they're not around all the time. My brother had a small dog both a Chihuahua and terrier mix that used to shake all the time especially when around people
This is SO wrong....like all the other comments saying the same thing... you NEVER EVER point scissors towards the eye like that... one flinch and you have a blind dog 🤦♀️ not only that, but that is the choppiest face cut I have seen in a long time. Not gonna matter that you dont use "restraints" (i.e. grooming arm) because at the very least this is an awful cut, at the very worst you are going to injure a dog. I feel so bad for this dog 😢 any groomer who cares about the dog will work with the puppy until it is a happy place to go to and those shakes dont happen. This is just wrong on so many levels
This is so terrible how close u got to this adorable dogs eyes with those scissors ✂️ why not use scissors that have a protector. Same type of scissors almost cost my yorkie his eye!!
Yes it looks like I am really close in the videos and going fast. Because I do not use any restraints(other than my hand) I am better able to gage when the dog is going to move and react accordingly. I have also been doing this for just over 16 years so although fast and close it is with many years of practice. I use these scissors because I have tried many others and these are the ones I am most comfortable with.
I've been grooming for 20 years. I groom all dogs and don't turn away any. There are some dogs that it's absolutely impossible not to use a groom loop or even a muzzle for. My question for you is what holding techniques do you use for a dog that is all over the place and bites for their groom? And the dogs that are very energetic and want to constantly jump off the table unless they feel the grooming loop and know they can't jump?
Yes, I have several dogs just like that! For those guys, I use many different holding techniques.
If you go to my channel and check out my Playlists, the Difficult Doggie Grooms playlists would be very helpful with videos to show you these techniques. Please let me know if you have any other questions. 🐾🐶
Aww love this pup do yall sell dogs
Lol. No, but I have such a variety of cute pups to work with. I run a home based dog grooming business, and these beautiful pups are my clients. 🐾🐶
As a certified dog groomer you ALWAYS NEED RESTRAINTS! TUBS ON TABLES AND CAGES! Like bruh I get you’re trying to show what you can do without them but to be fair you’re gonna get bit a lot more often! Trust me even with the little dogs they always get nippy
I've been grooming for over 17 years and have never used restraints.
That lil boy is shivering, please take care of him. Make him feel safe first. PLEASE FOR GOD’s SAKE
Your NOT using proper grooming scissors! It will only take a second to blind this dog as you puncture their eye!
I have been using these very same scissors for over 15years and never had a problem. Because I don't use restraints when I hold the dig with my other hand I can tell when they are going to move and adjust the scissors accordingly. Thanks fir for watching and for commenting 🐶 🐾
@@k9clipz-doggroomingtips7422 Lady, you're doing it wrong, and a zillion other groomers on here are telling you this (me included). I've seen a lot of bad groomers in my years, and you're one of them. Sloppy cut too!
PS. You're welcome for "my comment and view"... so dont bother AH 🙄 🐾🐶 🤭🤣
This may sound weird or silly but I finally figured out that I would truly love to have my own dog grooming business ❣️ I was recently diagnosed with heart failure after early age of 40 and I am an empath so when I am around animals I feel extra safe knowing that they are picking up on any medical issues might be happening with me and if I'm sending warning signs to let me know to take a break 💔 I am able to communicate with certain canines and felines at first it was kind of weird but now it's just like second nature. Pre-pandemic I was on my way to work to become a certified dog groomer for the first time when I received the phone call that they were shutting the schools down and we were to pick her children immediately. I now have the opportunity to try and do this again if I succeed I am resolute in my decision 21-day own my own dog grooming thank you for taking the time to share your videos I love the way you make it clear that you don't have to restrain your four-legged friends I believe you have the ability too to give off positive vibe to the animal letting the dog receive it and be obedient and a bit more relaxed anyway like I said sounded weird but just a 🤔 thanks again for the video as I would like to learn as much as possible 🤗🐶🐱🐕🦺🦮
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Good luck with your journey to become a dog groomer. It is a wonderful job to be surrounded by such loving and sweet animals every day! They can definitely read us and will follow our lead. I have many videos on my channel of how I groom every dog that comes to me without restraints. I also plan to offer training if that is something you would be interested in. If so, you can email me at k9clipzdoggrooming@gmail.com. I wish you all the best, and thanks for sharing. 🐾🐶
You try that with my doghe won't have eyes left because he jumps. Those scissors are way to big for his face!🤬🤬
I have many dogs who jump and move around or are aggressive. I have many full length videos of how I groom them and holding techniques I use. I have created playlists on my channel to find a variety of videos. Thanks for watching and for commenting. 🐶🐾
Hi lisa akka your video nice🐶 i love🐕 animals🥰i watching for full video👍
Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comment!
What about the nose? Can I trim the whiskers a little while trimming the nose area the mouth? I'm not too sure. The name of that area? I'm assuming the news the long part. Well the whiskers area lol. I have a Yorkie and thinking about trimming. Obviously if I take him they will know. I was just going to try. He might not like it then I might have to send them out lol. But I keep hearing. If you do trim that's bad for the whiskers but one video says it's okay to at least do it for keeping them aligned if you are rooming and you have to get into that area so they're not all different lengths
Yes, I think it is okay to trim the whiskers. Each dog is different, and it depends on what the owner prefers. But I have trimmed the whiskers, shaved them, and everything in between!
On my channel I have many full length videos and if you go to my playlists and look at Yorkshire terrier dog breed you can see the various different cuts I have done! Thanks for watching and I hope this helps. 🐶🐾
my auntie has a dog that looks like that! is the dog a cavapoo?
Oakley is a Bichon/Shih-Tzu cross dog breed
As a dog bather for professional groomers I must say I never EVER saw them point the scissor at the dogs eyes. I mean why? Scary to watch. I was freakin
Which one is better scissors or clippers?
I'm assuming you meant to say scissors or clippers? I prefer to use scissors but I also use clippers depending on if the dog is getting their face completely shaved but I seem to always go back with the scissors to get in really close by the eyes.
It really depends on what you are most comfortable with.
We know not to bring our friends here!
PLEASE watch a video on how to scissor properly, including HOW THEY LAY IN YOUR HAND. this video is scary. I've taught grooming to newbies and they didnt scare me this much. please keep the points AWAY from the eyes jesus
cute
🐶🐾
Poor feller. He's scared to death
Yeah he's not a big fan coming to see me but he sure is happy after he's done being groomed and feels better. Likes to prance around for his owner! 🐾🐶
Omg big scissors
No restraints and the scissors pointing towards the eyes. That is so scary dogs can be unpredictable they could move suddenly and that could be bad. Possibly a lawsuit.and that dog is clearly scared
Your dog was scared it's shaking that's uncomfortable to it
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.
As a dog owner, I don't recommend this method.
Omg I’m so scared for that dog!! DO NOT take your pets to her!
I wish I did not watch this video. I hop my pups aren't getting their face cut like this. Those scissors are literally an inch or less away from their eyes. One twitch or move and their eye is getting poked.
I was given my mini poodle during the first Christmas of Covid. So I had to relearn how to trim him. I’ve never used restraints with him . He has always looked pretty darn good. Once a car stopped to ask me where I had him groomed. Next week I am entrusting a groomer who doesn’t use restraints to give him his first professional grooming!.
Great job! That's how my dog grooming business started. I had always groomed my dog and people kept asking where I got him done.....and eventually I started grooming their dogs and on and on❤️🐾
Where are you located?? U do a great job
Those are not the right scissors ✂️. SMH
AAAWWW SO CUTE 😊
Yes, he is indeed! 🐶🐾
I'm so scared watching this. If the dog bowed or turned his head even a little bit he's going to have his eye impaled.
This fast method scares the hell out if me and I have been doing it for many many years. NONSENSE! Goodbye eyelashes also.
Girl you cut his eyelashes😟
Yes, every owner likes their dog differently.
Venden tijeras sin punta , compra de esas
Do you sedate dogs?
No, I do not! But for these short videos, I use really well-behaved dogs! I have many full-length grooming videos on my channel of dogs that are not so relaxed and calm! 🐶🐾
What breed is this?
The owners told me he is a Shih-Tzu but most likely he is a Shih-Tzu mix as he has a longer nose than a shihtzu commonly has.
Somehow this didn't look particularly professional to me.
🐾🐶
please don’t do this😢 the dog is shaking.
Not even brush before?
And bad safety 😮😂🤪😅
Just like my DOG ...
What mixed breed does Oakley belongs to?
So cute! Oakley is a Maltese/Shih-Tzu cross dog breed. 🐶🐾
Poor baby :(
But she needed a hair cut 💇
This is why I’m learning how to groom my own dog. Yall can’t be trusted 😮😮😢
This is so freakin scary
The dog seems to be super terrified. You need to comfort them first. Doesn't look like very loving person taking care of the dog. I would never take my dog to your place. Just about getting views on y.t.
The dog is shaking, she is terrified. And why are you using pointed scissors on her face and pointing upwards towards the eyes?? This is so wrong and so dangerous. Poor wee thing. One wrong move from you or dog, the eye is out. Nerve wracking to watch
This is a very unsafe how to, especially for people to do at home. Sad that you encourage this technique :( if the dog moves they can very easily get scissors in the eye :(
Why would you be cutting that close to the eye
To trim the hair so it doesn't go into the eye or block the dogs vision 🐶🐾
That is so dangerous
Poor dog is terrified, very upsetting to watch this awful video. Hopefully you'll go out of business pdq.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.
How do you get the dog to sit still?
Many dogs stay still for the grooming process, but for those that don't, I have many different holding techniques that I use. Usually the first time I groom a new pup I have to use some of these hold but by the second and third groom, the dog knows what is going on and just naturally stays still for me like this guy. To see these techniques and how I use them, please check out my playlists on my channel! I have many difficult and resistant dogs that I have groomed and have full unedited videos to watch! Please let me know what you think. 🐶🐾
the dog shaking 😭
Yes, many dogs shake when they come to the groomer. I just don't video the happy ones. I record all the dogs I groom so everyone can see what it is really like to groom a dog! 🐶🐾
Very wrong
Couldn’t watch this for long, so dangerous, dogs can suddenly jump or move in a split second, I use rounded scissors and still wouldn’t point it towards there eyes like that
Where can I find a pr.of curved scissors
I have seen them on Amazon, including the ones I use. But you can also find them in a pet supply store that sells items in bulk for dog groomers. Then, you would be able to test the scissors and see how they feel in your hand. I use both a strait and curved scissor when I groom. Hope this helps!
I dont want you as my dog groomer. Never use pointed scissors around the face. I know they have rounded tip scissors.
Oh no no, you need to stop grooming. Sorry this is not good for the dogs.
Lol
she is scaring dog.thats cruel
No way! Those are some big ass scissors and your positioning is scary.
Yes, I agree they are big scissors, and it does look scary!
idk why some of yall are trying to tell her what to use and how to do it when she had clearly been doing this enough to be confident with those type of cutters, there are many.. MANY groomers that i see use those because they know what they are doing..
Thanks! I really appreciate your comment 🐾 🐶
I don’t care how much experience you have as a groomer. In this video you can show us how unprofessional you are. The only thing I can see here is how careless you are about safety when grooming a dog.
😢I feel sorry for the dogs
He seem scary
I worry about he eyes
I always place a flat hand over the dogs eye and use scissors around the eye tthat way if the dog moves suddenly my hand gets contacted by scissors rather than the eyes.
Thank you I have been trying to trim my new Yorkie puppy's face but can't get him to stay still and stop biting. I think you should be using round ended scissors near his eyes.
You're welcome! I have been using these same type of scissors since I started grooming 16+ years ago and these exact brand of scissors for over 15years. I have never had an issue but when I first started I was much slower and more focused on the proper techniques and holds. Thanks for watching 🐶🐾
I kept clinching and closing my eyes while watching this video. Please don’t try this at home.
ANY NEW GROOMERS DO NOT DO THIS!!! omg so ridiculous.
Lol. I have trained several people. As long as you learn the proper techniques, you can groom any dog without restraints. This is just a quick demonstration with a very compliant dog. I groom all dogs without restraints, even the ones who are not compliant. I show all the techniques I use in my full-length videos on my channel. Although this may not be the way you would groom dogs, this is how I have done it for over 17 years. 🐾🐶
@@k9clipz-doggroomingtips7422 wasn't talking about the restraints.
Looks like my Morkie. That being a cross breed of Maltese & Yorkshire terrier. That helped me understand the direction in which to cut the face. I will be watching more as they come along. Thanks for sharing. 💗
Glad you enjoyed the video! I should have a few more of that breed already uploaded on my channel if you'd like to check it out. I have set up the videos in playlists with the breed of the dog in the title or description so hopefully it'll be easier fir you to find what you are interested in!
@@k9clipz-doggroomingtips7422 Thank you so much. I will check out all of your playlist.. I really enjoy seeing you groom the pooches. You are very gentle and have a light hand that instills calm. I look forward to more of your videos. Thank you and best of luck. 💗

I can NOT get my dog to stop flinching away when I try to cut his face. Pls help!
Please go to my channel where I have full-length videos of dogs that are not so well behaved as this one. I have created playlists to help you find what you may need to help you with your pup. Start with puppies first grooms and dogs resistant to being groomed. There I show you more of the holding techniques I use. Remember I've been doing this for just over 17 years so it will take patience and a lot of practice but you will get there! Please let me know how it goes. 🐾🐶
I would be scared and shaking too if someone cut my bangs with pointy scissors close to my eyes😮😢! Yikes!!!
Он похож на моего пса 😅
So cute! 🐾
Good lord, do not point the scissors directly around the eyes like that. Much safer angles to come from. Dog doesn't look washed either (?)
You're supposed to wash the dog before you cut their hair what about the matted hair and the hair what's going to stick? When you do those hard-to-reach or those hard places first and then wash the hair then do the rest? Only thing I agree with people on about this woman as far as criticism is maybe she could use a grounded scissor but at the same time she must know what she's doing if she's done it for years doesn't use restraints and still never stabbed any dog. Auntie bear she was very precise with the scissors as far as how close she was able to cut
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.
You need training definitely no protocols or ethics. Brutal. Horrible demo.
This is actually awful..
Lol, this dogs owner liked the video!
Cómo tiembla 😢
