This shows the importance of the car listen even with top tier engineers😂. I have arc 3 which gives the car listening option but nothing replaces the process
I love Darrell's work. I recently realized how many cool bands he's worked with. Also, I feel like I learn way more from this kind of fly-on-the-wall masterclass than I do from any video where someone's just spouting abstract rules at you. I want to see what someone actually does on a mix, in real time. That's all that's relevant.
Agreed- thats what I give a shit about I love abstraction and philosophy but not in a mixing class. Maybe not at this point in my progression…skip the foreplay and give me the main corse 😇
So cool to see real time start-to-finish instruction being applied to mixing! It’s interesting how this kind of teaching approach is standard in a lot of coding, 3D modeling and art/drawing courses, glad to see someone finally applying it to music!
Really enjoyed this and the Daniel Nelson R&B, but the subtleties are incredible. Do you have a basic level video somewhere here or could you recommend one?
Great video - except one major issue: music volume should go down when Darrell speaks. It’s impossible to hear what he’s saying. Otherwise great lesson.
These tracks are mixed by Darrell, he didn't;t produce or engineer them. They were recorded by the artists themselves, so any potential tuning would have been done by the artist.
Love your content, but for this one, I stopped watching after 6.33 mins because the vocal never gets turned off, thereby drowning out Mr. Thorpe's (probably stellar) explanations. I simply couldn't focus on what he was saying, and that's without suffering from any kind of attention deficit disorder.

Great sounding heavy track.

She sounds great so leave it alone. Her command of the mic does your job for you. Perfect music is an irony of itself.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!

I'm looking for 70's rock or AOR rock. Thanks much.
Damn mixing really good

Does he mix strictly itb at this home studio? Sounds great I can’t even compare using outboard gear 😂
Pretty much! Almost always in the box from what I know, with occasional breakout!
@@Producelikeapro Amazing! If you’ll excuse me I have some homework to do.
@@henryhuynh2099 Aha! Nicely done
What’s the name of this song at the end of the video I like that one I wanna share it with my friends
Is there any vocal tuning in there?

Based on the Lyrics I think they want a loud Bass Drum.😆
Indeed! Metaltastic!
Ironically he turns down the kick 🤣
:)
Thanks ever so much Audrey
Can't hear what he is saying most of the time. Music is way too loud when he speaks. Cool sounds though
Hey Warren, What's up with the mixing contest? Any updates?
As soon as we've finished listening to ALL the mixes we will announce the winners!

Please duck the recording when you're talking. It's very confusing to try to make out what you're saying with the recording as loud as that.
They Felipe! Thanks for the comment. We will be sure to duck the audio in the future.
What a truly terrible song...
