      It’s a shame V-Rods we’re overlooked back in the day, because to me it’s the only Harley I’d be interested in buying.
      Makes sense it’s popular with MCs in Germany because the engine was co-developed with Porsche, so there’s a perfect American/German national pride mashup

    I’m just a rider not in a MC but I always thought it was more about what you do to make it yours than the brand. Anybody can ride something off the floor or pay someone to customize it for them but it takes real talent, dedication, and some imagination to really make it a unique part of you.

      My first "two" or for the matter of getting i license was a 71 , 650 Triumph Tiger. It was a basket case when I bought her. Within a couple years she was full restored and customized for my pleasure. The former owner had trophies on his shelves for being the fastest in its class. Even as a basket case it gave me my thirst for riding.

    Not in a MC, much respect for all MC's. After having a chat with a Sgt. at Arms, Bandito one night. He asked me what kind of bike I had? I said I didn't have one at the moment. He said, what are you looking for? A Harley? I told him No! He looked very surprised. I told him I couldn't support a manufacturer who wouldn't support the people that kept them going in the lean years. I told him I wanted a Victory or Triumph. A week after talking with him I bought an older Victory, 2 weeks after that I bought a Triumph. Didn't really like the feel of the Triumph after riding it for awhile. Ended up trading the Triumph to have work done on the Victory. Loving my Victory! Currently in South Mississippi, moving soon back Oklahoma.

    Interesting to be reminded about the Triumphs as I knew two ex pagans (from the 80's) and at least one of them still rode a heavy custom Triumph that would shake you apart on the road if you did not know how to handle it. It’s very different in the UK, roads are different than in the US and the weather is always shite! Shiny Harley customs usually mean you don’t do the miles. So many clubs seem to have forgotten the “motorcycle” part of MC and too many don’t ride many miles. In the old days it was a matter of pride to ride year round. I’ve been riding since the late 80s my dad and my uncle were ton up boys in the 50s. It’s in the blood. I ride year round to go to work and as my preferred transport - my main bike is a BMW r1200gs. It makes you happy to ride in the cold the wet and on shitty roads. My ‘bike meet’ bike is my Moto Guzzi 1100 cafe racer I built myself. Knowing how to work on your bike has to be at the heart of the culture. Suzuki Bandit 1200, Yamaha XJR13 or Suzuki GSX14 are all pretty common in the UK club scene. Interesting channel we do things differently in the UK L&R to you and all your followers

    Victory bikes are still made they are just badged Indian now. Polaris owns Indian and they owned Victory also

  • @powderhound907
    @powderhound907 2 года назад +7

    Victory folded when Polaris bought the Indian name and didn't want to deal with two companies. Indian actually runs a lot of Victory technology and look. The new liquid cooled bikes are running a design created by Victory just before folding. Victory also got their look from Arlen Ness, who designed their bikes.

Single spring seat, black Paco springer front ending, everything port and polished weld filled squish ring to get that bathtub shape around valves. 2.1 pnut tank military green tiny front fender military green, chopped rear fender with a raw High sissy bar with natural petina. Homemade round oil bag mostly rust and sealed with clear. Z mini hangers black. Chrome spoked wheels with the super thick and high sidewall bias ply type tires! I've lived out West, MidWest and Dirty South. Most bikes I've seen depends on length of riding. As you ride you find your preferences, I've seen older riders usually on softails for a more comfortable ride cause that hardtail is hell on the back. My first was a '77 Sportster and now I have a '12 Fatbob and love it. Saves this old broke soldier's back.

    Polaris consolidated Indian and Victory. Both good bikes.
    My main ride is a #Sportster, with a dressed #Lowrider #EVO for touring and long runs.
    There are several 1% clubs in Southern California that exclusively ride sport bikes, and a few that ride dual purpose and adventure touring bikes, and I know of one diamond wearing stunt crew that ride Groms.
    Outlaw racers (people doing non-AMA racing) ride a lot of CZs and JAWAS on speedways, and XLR-750 Sportsters are popular for that, too. Most 1% clubs here like big bikes, a lot of Road Kings and Road Glides, and an Electra Glide here and there. Street glides are not as common. The other really popular bikes are Dynas, then Softails, though chopper and Vicla guys like the softails and the big (1200) Sportsters.
    Personally I prefer my Sporty. It's kind of ridiculously hot rodded, but I'm an old racer so it fits me.

They can be updated with bigger Evo style motors from companies like S&S, and even fitted for Twin-cams. Shout out to the Buell designed FXRs. Harley's best handling motorcycles!
