I'm a total newbie to all things mosaic but I've stalked for a while.. finally caught me with your fairy magic 🥰🧚🏻♀️💕 yarn finally arrived today I'm just having my first go at the swatch and hoping it's as easy as it looks.. takeaways from this very helpful video - keep it loose 😉 use your back bumps and also I need exactly those scissors in my life right now please 🤩 I've never been so excited to start a project thank you! Xx
If this is your first time doing mosaic overlay crochet, please do the swatch. This is my first time. I had to do the swatch 3 times to get the suggested gauge. One with a 4mm hook and the next 2 with a 3.75mm. The swatches were coming out way too big but the 3rd time worked! The fabric should be dense almost like a rug. It reminds me of filet crochet where you have to get the stitches right or the motifs will come out stretched or wonky. I had to tighten up my foundation chains and row 1. You may not have this issue, but better to do the swatch to see :)
It's very interesting watching this. I have never done an overlay mosiac before, so this is going to be a first for me. I have done Mosiac when I have done ones by Elenora Tully from Coastal Crochet. So I will be learning something new.
Have a question after i do the 1st repeat do i add a single (double) crochet next than add for double or trebles crochet afterwards than a single than 7 for row three repeat
that is effectively the first stitch of the second repeat. The first repeat ends with 4F, and the second starts with 3F, so you will have a run of 7F in total x
I bought the pattern today and i have done the foundation row and row 1 so far. Am very much a beginner. I have found that if i mark the 24 stitches each time it helping me ( 24 x 8 +5 for the edges gives 197) hope that sounds right 😂
You will need to purchase the pattern from Ravelry (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fairy-dust-mosaic). In the Ravelry listing you should find a link to my Rosina Crochets fb group, which includes a coupon code for a further discount off the Ravelry price xx

That is the beauty of mosaic crochet ... it looks really complicated and impressive, but its actually just basic stitches and a lot of counting! xx

This is stunning. I’ve just bought the sprite pack and the pattern.
thank you xx
Thank you this was very helpful. And I have always put my slip knot on the hook the exact same way that you do. 🤗

I'm not completely sure what you are asking, but the single stitch immediately after the first chain on each row is only worked once xx
