Pretty exciting seeing you prune this oak. It may be small, but the shape is so sweet. Should be interesting getting a look at the roots. Oaks can have some weird tap roots that are prone to fusing. Looking forward to see how this species behaves.
Cheers Sue, yeah im very curious to see what state the roots are in. I wonder if i removed the tap root or not, i cant remember!
Nice tree good to see it coming along nicely
Cheers bro :)
A slow grower, but I really love the foliage. Cheers broski
Cheers bro, yeah a slow grow fo sho!
@@BackGardenBonsai would it grow faster in a larger pot or in the ground?
Yep, much faster.
I like a nice holm oak. This one seems really healthy. ALSO mice like them apparently so mine are gone. Happy Easter!
Cheers bro. Mice attacks suck!
nice. how's the little birch doing?
Cheers, yeah its doing okay, i will probably have to place it in its own pot when I repot it
Bro get a lazy susan. I resisted it myself for a couple years. But it helps doing pruning and root work. Plus you spin trees around almost not stop.
ive got one. its useless. lol. only works for very heavy trees. i need one that is for cakes/ make my own, then it will still spin well with a light weight
@BackGardenBonsai really!? I love mine it was like 10 bucks off Amazon. I like to set my tree on it and rake my roots like Nigel sanders does. Really helps that detail root pruning. Then I can easily study each tree to plan which pruning decision I want to make. Most of my trees are all under 5 years old and have been trained in clip and grow since sprouting so that might be why I find the lazy susan easier.
