Excellent video. I agree with you on the Hass. I’ve seen and tasted from a few orchards here in Riverside and in my opinion. You can’t beat a locally/backyard grown Hass.
Nice trees very entertaining video, creative, enjoy it much thanks for sharing your avocado adventures my opinion differ I thought the don gilllogy worse amazing that your trees can compete with eucalyptus that lamb hass is impressive recovery,
Great video, it was really good to see how all those different varieties have been doing this year! Looking forward to seeing how all your trees do next year. I'm hoping some of my newly grafted trees take off next year🤞
@@AvocadoTalk It has been pretty mild here too. We've not had any frosts or freezes in December this year. Although it looks like it is going to get much colder at the start of the new year.
Thank you for all work you do with these vids. You’re the only one growing all these varieties and giving us updates on how they perform/taste. Also thank you for the JB scions i got 2 to take im hoping once it warms up they start taking off
Thanks for the video, I ve been following your channel for years, I don't think I've missed a video. I live near you here in Corona California, so what works well for you will likely work well for me. I currently have 5-6 avocado trees, two are over 20 ft in height, so I feel those two have made it. The others are smaller and more vulnerable. I've likely planted over 20 trees, so about 70% failure rate. It's a difficult tree to establish here in So Cal
Hello Neighbor...I'm glad you didn't give up. When I first started, I too killed a couple of trees. If you got a weak tree, sometimes there is nothing you can do. Continue to baby your small ones and they too will be like your 20 footers. I hope you got fruit from your tress. Looking forward to a great spring flowering and fruiting season in 2025! Stay in touch and Thanks for watching!
Congrats on your collection. My oldest trees are heading into their 3rd winter. The CARMENs have fall bloom fruitset allowing them to hold. I'm expecting the GEMs to hold fruit as well. Going on a HASS planting rampage as per your recommendation thank you for sharing 🍻 Stay hydrated Happy New Years
Home grown Hass are excellent, it's fun to try to get the shiny new stuff like GEM but the good old Hass is a must have in my opinion . Happy new year and thanks for watching!
Hey REM - Another very enjoyable video. I liked that you had the different categories, and even focused on which trees were not doing as well as expected - very helpful for those of us who have lost a few trees. Keep up the good work!
@@neurocognitive I forgot to mention the Oro Negro you got me. I ended up moving it out from a shaded area since it got colder and less daylight hours now and it took a wrong turn. Hopefully it makes a comeback.
Your trees are looking good overall. This year the fruit set was disappointing on my trees. I need to do some maintenance on my trees for sure and I still need to graft onto my Bacon. Thanks for the update on your trees. I hope our 2025 is fruitful for sure.
@@gabeleon2922 I actually didn't fertilize at all this year, fruit seen smaller on my Hass and Bacon and all sorts of other things. 2025 I plan to go back to my fertilizer plan. At least 3 times, early spring, summer and Fall.
@AvocadoTalk I plan on fertilizer with Jack's 10-30-20 Blossom Booster in Spring and then switch to Jack's 20-20-20 for Summer and Fall... I need to apply more mulch as well with a good compost.
@@Avo7bProject we actually have had a mild winter so far, hopefully your trees make it through January. Second red might be able to handle your area 🤔. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Hey REM, love your channel. Keep 'em coming. A couple questions: 1) what are the ages of your in ground trees, Sharwill, Lamb, SC Gold and Sir Prize, and 2) did you get your Second Red as a cutting from Marta Marvienko? I understand she has been able to get several grafted trees from the mother tree in Santa Rosa. I was able to get some of my own cuttings from the mother tree in SR and have about 5 grafts on my Bacon that are pushing lots of new growth. Hoping for some flower buds this next season.
1) Sharwil: planted 6/2022 - 4 feet tall and now a monster SC Gold: Grafted 4/2022 - just a scion twig and flowered spring 2024 and has 40+ fruit Sir Prize: planted 3/2021 - 3 feet tall and now first year with fruit, can't wait to try it. Lamb: I have 2 the one come back was planted 4/2021. My other from Brokaw planted 6/2023 and is now bigger than this one. 2) I got the second red from a friend that went to the mother tree in SR and cut me some scions. Not Marta. Happy New Year and looking forward to great spring! Thanks for watching!
